Wayne Gandy/Atl LT (1 Viewer)

been following the story all week that big Wayne is sidelined with a bum hamstring. This guy, while not Ogden or Pace is a solid NFL starter. He is in his upteenth year in the business and has only missed one game his entire career.

My question, since it is tough getting eloborate news on linemen, does anyone know how he is progressing?

LT is a key position, he has a rookie backing him (albeit form Louisville, probably has coach's faith) who will face Julius Peppers and friends. Look what has happend to St.L when Pace went down. ATL has given up 13 (!!!) sacks in two games.

Im looking for insight. Personally, Im thinking this may be the last week you see Joey Hesiman play a meaningful down for the Falcs.

Q: On the status on Wayne Gandy:

A: "He was out there at practice today and did almost everything. We had to cut him back on some of the reps, but I thought he looked pretty good. I hope that he will be ready by this Sunday."

He's not a solid NFL starter anymore. You didn't see him struggle much last year because they didn't have the speed rushers up against him. Remember he wasn't on the QB's blindside last year, Vick is left handed, where Harrington is a righty. Gandy is showing just how slow he is. Not sure if it was the undrafted rookie that came in for him or not, but it seemed like the offensive line performed a little better when Gandy went out. Gandy is a non-issue for the Falcons, their offensive line can't get worse without him.
