WCD **Miami at New England** (-2.5, 41) (1 Viewer)

Marcus Jones and Jack Jones both listed as out already. That means NE is down to some scrubs at one CB position, at least. Not a good day to be going up against Tyreek or Waddle (I'm going against Waddle and have Marcus Jones as a CB, hence me following the NE CBs).

Dolphins starting QB on the shelf with ANOTHER concussion.(someone please step in before we see something on the field we don't want to see) Even with that The Fins have the better QB in this game. Lord Vader has lost some his "force" this season. Fins offense, even with a backup will score enough to win this one...

Miami- 30
New England- 23

Teddy is one of the best backup QB’s in the league and there shouldn’t be much drop off in production for the passing game. Also, NE is banged up on the backend, making this a possible smash spot for Waddle and Hill. Teddy doesn’t throw a great deep ball, but McDaniel will find ways to get these guys the ball in space and let them do their thing

Caller on the radio yesterday nailed it when he said all you need to know about the state of the Pats is the fact that a rookie CB being out has a very big effect on their offense.

Both teams are banged up. Miami could be down to 4th choice at LT. And Tua who is unbeaten, 4-0 versus BB. And the Miami secondary has had multiple injuries and now X could miss the game. UDFAs and ST players are Miami's secondary.

My post wasn't about their overall health...it is the fact a rookie CB being injured has an effect on their offense shows what a train wreck that side of the ball is.

As an outsider, it seems that NE has struggled vs good defenses, like CIN, BUF, NYJ, most teams have, but has done ok versus other defenses with some good games on the ground and through the air. The Patriots could easily be 9-6.

They are not a good team...very average with a ton of holes...they are lucky to have 7 wins...D is solid but nothing special against good offenses and their O is in very rough shape...outside of Stevenson there are no playmakers, the O line is barely average, the OC is horrifically bad, and Mac has regressed from last year.

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?

Gesicki sleeper this week? Last start Teddy had MG went 6-69-2
He sleeps most weeks so yeah
-I do like his chances since he is very familiar with the Patriots and the other skill position guys are either in year 1, Waddle saw them his rookie year a couple more times.
I think Mike sets up for that but I wouldn't want to start him in a Championship game today

Starting LT Greg Little's PFF grade: 32.4

CB Noah Igbinoghene: 48.5.
That's going to be curtains
Miami set to drop from 8-3 to 8-8, what a collapse before the Jets roll thru here next week and even then we would need help
The whole season winds down to pretty much today and we have no starting Tackles on the OL
Where is Liam Eichenberg?

Is this going to be a replay of old tapes from previous years or does Miami do something we never saw coming like when Ronnie Brown ran for all those scores?
That's the type of wildcard Miami needs today, they need to pound the football until it hurts.

I don't know about "lucky to have 7 wins". They've had 3 games decided in the final minute by the Rhamondre fumble, the ridiculous hook and ladder and a late penalty that the NFL apologized for.

The defense is 5th in the NFL in points allowed and second in interceptions and has basically been carrying the team. And Mac hasn't been playing badly. He's just not scoring touchdowns because they're ridiculously conservative on offense, trying to get 15 play drives every time they've got the ball.

I totally agree about the lack of playmakers and the painfully bad offensive coaching. You could argue that the play calling makes sense if they were more disciplined but they've been sloppy and get a lot of unforced penalties that make sustained drives nearly impossible. Their old special teams coach isn't handling special teams and their new coach has made a traditional strength into a liability. Their best offensive lineman has been playing out of position since preseason because they traded away their left tackle for a late round pick.

I'm rooting for them to make a run because it's always fun to watch your team try to get into the playoffs but I'm not optimistic. So I think we mostly agree. I just think it's unfair to say they're lucky to have 7 wins.

NE had 4 games they were in position to win (CIN, LV, MIN, GB). I am not making an argument they should or could have won them. They didn’t. Even if they were 11-4 instead of 7-8, they still are a middle of the road team. Making or not making the playoffs is mostly irrelevant to me. They aren’t going anywhere even if they make it.

It’s possible for NE to win today, lose next week, and still make the postseason at 8-9. NYJ, LV, and PIT would have to lose, MIA would have to lose next week to NYJ, and JAC would need to beat TEN. But all of those seem possible.

I should have used the word fortunate rather than lucky...luck implies lucky bounces/officiating and stuff like that and that is not what I meant (although getting Zack instead of White twice and Colt instead of Murray and now Teddy instead of Tua is a bit of luck)...what I meant is this team is fortunate because with their roster, coaching staff and undisciplined play they could easily be a 5-win team...while I will never root against them, I truly despise their current direction and have zero faith that they have a ceiling of anything more than mediocrity unless they make big changes this offseason.

Fins always beat the snot out of the Pats today should be no different.
Have you seen that Miami has no starting Tackles on the OL and also has no Secondary, all DBs are 3-4-5 and worse types, guys walking the street are starting for Miami today
Rhamondre big day today is my guess

Miami quick snaps and they created a false start penalty

Pats should have quickly challenged but Miami knew they fumbled and tried to quick snap
False Start...
Genius! No really

Teddy Bridgewater FLOATS it off his BACK FOOT
Pass floats and flutters and carries Tyreek Hill out of bounds

Miami cannot jump on a clear miscall from the Refs, they end up punting the football with a decimated Secondary
Great job

Thornton might not have gotten both feet in bounds on the long catch

In fact, it was clearly not 2 feet in bounds, you wonder what the referee was looking at.
Same side of the Field they called Hill out of bounds on and he was much closer to making the catch than Thornton

How the Holy Hells Bells was Thornton a catch?
I watched it several times, it's not even close, I don't understand who is sitting in these booths in New York making the calls

Most egregious of any call all season
1 foot in, next foot totally out of bounds
I don't know why i am watching this sport any more, they cannot get even simple calls right

Nice drive.
Did you not see the Thornton call?
Honestly, seriously?
I'd like to see what happened on 3rd and 8 deep in their territory vs that gift

Good job I guess taking advantage of the Refs,
Time to switch to RedZone

I'm just angry with Miami but that was easily the worst out of bounds catch call I've ever seen, slowed it down, cannot see anything the Refs saw other than 1 foot in bounds and 1 clearly out especailly after he ahad control of the ball

Also disturbing they never replayed it when they came back from the challenge/timeout, pitiful my friend.

Agreed…so now we are even with awful calls today.
