Weather concerns (1 Viewer)

Right now weather.com seems to have these 4 games to be rain and wind infested:

- Sea vs St Louis - 70% precipitation

- NY vs Chicago - 80% precipitation (shows rain and thunderstorms all Sunday)

- Philly vs Wash - 90% precipitation (shows rain and thunderstorms all Sunday)

- NE vs NYJ - 90% precipitation (shows rain and thunderstorms all Sunday)

There are supposed to be morning showers in Pittsburgh, but it is expected to clear up by kick off.

Homers - please keep updating this thread with real time info as it comes in from these cities.

Local radio is saying that fog might be a major concern in Foxboro for the Patriots and Jets game. According to WEEI the networks are at least considering moving their camera's around the stadium because they fear the fog may interfere with normal camera positions.I live about 30 minutes from Foxboro. As I type there is some fog (not heavy) but we are having a severe downpour. Keep an eye on this situation. It's still early in the day. But, if this keeps up the weather will be a factor.

WEEI is saying the fog is so bad that they can't even see the stadium from the car lot they are brodcasting from. That car lot is literally across the street from the stadium.

Re: NE v Jets:

Does fog affect players much?

I figure wind and rain = more turnovers but I doubt it is so foggy that QB's can't see recievers.

Wasn't there a Bears/Eagles (playoffs?) game where the fog was so bad the announcers couldn't see the field? I bet the players couldn't see from one EZ to the other, but I don't know how much effect it had on the actual play.

There was a college game this last week Toledo @ Northern Illinios, the refs kept time because the score keepers couldn't see the field.

lol

i think that game you are reffering to was called... THE FOG BOWL for a reason.

lol.

and yes, the players couldn't see more than like 15-20 yards downfield.

Last night, TV station weatherman said Giants game is going to be a "mud bowl" tonight. This news guy IS dramatic but ....

I wonder how the weather will hurt Seattles kicking game - the rain isnt much of a concern, but possible 14 MPH winds...

anyone up there have a feeling on this? Thanks.

It was worse last monday, and Brown still got a few FGs.

If the weather is potentially this big a deal then shouldn't this be a pinned thread, or is this much adoo about nothing?

I posted this in the Maroney thread and feel it is worth passing around.

Raining in New England is an understement. It is torrentially downpouring.

3 or 4 minutes of this and the field at Gillette Stadium will be a mud pit.

Fog has pretty much lifted in Foxboro. But, the rain continues. It is going from a light drizzle. To severe downpours. Plus, it is warm. Around 63 degrees. It's a really odd weather day around here.It is suppose to be like this all day.

Anyone want to weigh in on whether any passing game players from either side are worth playing in Foxboro? I just can't see Laveranues' game translating well to a swampy field, and Pennington's noodle arm won;t help matters.

This is my last decision for the day too. I've pretty much played Coles every week regardless of his status. Maybe the wet field will help him, they usually hit him on the short passes and let him break them. That might it in well w/ the swampy conditions.

Actually, i think Coles becomes a better play because of this bad field. They will likely throw short screens, and quicker routes, that is Coles game. He's not the greatest deep route runner, and in the fog and mud, they won't likely go that route anyway. In a pt per reception league, i think Coles is a good start today.

What happens if a game is cancelled? Pushed to Monday?
for what reason?
They can't play with lightning in the area, am I correct? I'm sure the odds are very slim, but I'm wondering what the precedent is.
I recall a game being stopped for maybe 15 minutes to half hour but that's all. I think lightning hit a stadium light. Storms move with the wind so they can wait a little and feel more comfy

Giants-Bears game

With the rain that stadium's had and will still have before the 7:15 gametime, how do the kickers look? Will there be more wind than the 10-15 predicted?j
