Weather in Chicago tonight (1 Viewer)

The weather for tonight's Chicago/Houston game looks awful. Rain/Sleet with wind gusts up to 30 MPH. How does the field in Chicago hold up under wet conditions?

remember the thread from Hurricane Sandy, in the end it seemed to be, never bench your studs. Kickers on the other hand, i would imagine could be more affected

Windy City will be just that tonight

With a pair of teams that love to play good defense and run the ball, it already was shaping up to be an old-school game at Soldier Field on Sunday night between the Texans and Bears.

So why not throw in some bad weather?

Courtesy of our friends at Weather.com, rain and wind will descend on the Chicago area today.

A cold front will bring precipitation and sustained blasts of air in the range of 15 to 25 miles per hour. As Jon Erdman of Weather.com points out, it won’t be like that Packers-Bears Monday night game from 18 years ago, but it still could be a factor in the performance of the passing attacks.

So if you’re going to the game, prepare accordingly. If you’re not, your decision to stay warm and dry is about to be vindicated.

Weather should work in Chicago's favor. Opportunistic defense working against a wet slick ball in high winds. Plus they have more of a power back with Bush to grind it out than Houston since Tate is hurt. Foster and Forsett need some space to run in.

Haven't seen it this year, but in years past the field has been garbage when wet.

There's no wind here and the sun is shining. No way will the weather change that fast here in Chicago. Weather people don't know ####!

With 10.5 hours to go until game time (and 12.5 to the 3/4 quarters), I am pretty sure the weather can mosey on over and still get the job done. At least, with having to set a lineup within the next 3 hours many people aren't willing to take a chance on a really slow weather change.

I think you're missing some sarcasm. Looks like the worst of the wind and rain could be through the city before game time, but that field is notoriously bad and the prolonged soaking could be the biggest factor. Only players I'd think of benching for this one would be kickers though.

It is not just the weather, but that field CONSTANTLY sucks because of usage. Add in the weather and the field becomes a problem.

I just pulled up weather.com.......looking at the color radar right now, once it starts raining in CHI, it won't stop for a good 3-4 hours (possibly more). A hefty line of rain extending from Texas all the way to Canadian Border/US line

Decided to start Steven Hauschka over Shayne Graham, Bye week for Rodgers/Nelson and with Daniels in doubt, I think I'm looking at a Loss, so every little bit helps...

Fwiw fbg newsletter said worse weather than OPNovember 11, 2012, 11:09 ETHouston Texans at Chicago Bears - Weather AlertSummary:  Around 58 degrees with a isolated thunderstorms and wind from 20 to 30 MPH and gusts up to 45 MPH

Hmm hate these. Pretty hard to benc h Marshall even in a monsoon
I wouldn't bench Marshall. If anything he's Cutlers perfect bad weather WR. Even if Cutlers #s are down I'd expect Marshall to hold his. Plus with his strength and YAC he could do some dangerous things on bad turf.

Over the last few weeks, every time I go through the neighborhood, I laugh at all of the fools that are out there raking leaves.

There's always going to be a day like this in November. A day that allows Mother Nature to take care of the most of that work.

I'm leaving him in. They use Marshall a lot inside the 5 yard line, maybe he pushes a defender down and breaks a long one. Poor field conditions favor the offensive guy, hopefully a defender loses his footing and it's off to the races.

Cutler's bullet to Marshall will cut right thru wind and rain. I'll bench Andre with weak armed Schaub but not Brandon.

The latest from WGN:

A strong cold front extending out of an intensifying low pressure center just north of Lake Superior and oriented north-south through central Wisconsin through eastern Iowa into central Missouri mid-morning is expected to continue an eastward movement today - reaching downtown Chicago late this afternoon/early this evening and then moving out over Lake Michigan. A very strong pressure gradient is associated with this low pressure system with southerly winds at 25 miles per hour with gusts between 40 and 50 miles per hour forecast for the Chicago area this afternoon along with showers and a few thunderstorms as the front approaches.

During and immediately following the cold frontal passage, winds will shift to the southwest and then west-northwest gusting from 20 to 35 miles per hour. Temperatures will rapidly fall 20 to 25 degrees in just an hour or two - from the 60s into the 40s. Fans attending the Bears - Houston game this evening should not only be prepared for rain - but also chilling temperatures. By game's-end readings could be in the 30s with diminishing rain possibly changing over to wet snow.

I trust Skillethead, but weather channel still has it 50 at 11:00 tonight

Accuweather has a wind advisory that is slated to end at 8pm est--cutting it close.

The position that is usually effected by GUSTS of wind is the QB, so by extension the wr.

Been debating starting Dez Bryant over Marshall, but have to think Brandon should hold his #s with some yards after catch.

Wind is howling in the city right now and has been for the last couple hours. But it's also 70 and only partly cloudy. Should be an interesting afternoon.

:banned:

I'm 3 hours directly west of Chicago and it is really nasty. Heavy rains at time and very windy. It was 70 here yesterday and the temp is dropping (supposed to be 25 tonight).
