Week 01 2023 who should I start thread **OFFICIALLY UNOFFICIAL** (1 Viewer)

I still La Porta until we see him in this offense.

Moore & Bateman seem like similar options. I could go either way on these two.

My gut is saying Bateman as I do think he is still probably the #1 WR in Baltimore and has proven to be a big play guy so he can make a lot happen with limited targets.

I just don't know how to feel about Moore. He could rise to the #1 in KC and be a monster or he could be part of a whack-a-mole committee in KC that will frustrate fantasy managers all year long.

I certainly hope that Kincaid works out for me as a #1 TE over the year, but for week 1 in ppr, do I play it safe and go with Smith? hmmm

I'm not the guy to ask about TEs.

My impulse is to say Kincaid but that Jets defense looks scary good. Plus it's a Monday night roadie and I think the Jets are going to come out strong. Finally rookie TEs do seem to struggle historically...but is Kincaid really a TE?

I'm thinking Mostert. Not a huge fan but he's the starter and this could be a track meet type game, so maybe some scoring opportunities.

Aiyuk seems like a fourth option on the road in a tough matchup.

It's only week 1 and I have a few dilemma's to consider. Standard scoring non-ppr league. I need 2 out of this bunch:

Akers vs SEA
K Herbert vs GB
D. Cook vs BUF
D. Smith vs NE
Locket vs LAR

As of today, I am leaning toward D Smith and Akers. With Cook playing on Monday night, I don't think I will get a definitive answer on Hall. If I knew he was going to be out, I would slot Cook in for Akers.

Thoughts?
 
Should i start the Jets DST against a good buffalo O who is prone to making mistakes
Or should i pick up either atlanta or Minn against carolina or TB respectively

that's probably the play, but I would have Lockett considered in for Akers, who I dont love.

Akers is probably the right choice. No real competition for touches, Seattle has a suspect defense and with cup out who else is going move the offense?

Devonta is a good a choice as any of your other options who all have someone potentially eating into their production.

Yeah, I agree with your choices.

Swift for sure. He's healthy, the starter (I think), has a great offense around him and your other options are troubling.

I don't play Toney before I see Toney stay on the field for four quarters.

Gabe is on a great offense but I hate his inconsistent usage, the Bills added targets to the offense and this stands to be a tough matchup. But he probably has the most explosive upside of the remaining options.

I like Pittman a lot but what can we possibly say about his upside with Richardson at QB? No earthly idea. But I also don't know who else Richardson will throw to.

Coin toss between Gabe & Pittman so I go with the better offense.

I wouldn't overthink it. Why draft the Jets at their cost if you are going to stream?

I will repeat my mantra about defenses, they're random number generators. Might as well go with the one that has the best talent.

It's rare that I say this but I honestly have no opinion on any of these guys. Anything I say would be a total guess.

IIRC I recall hearing good reports about Richie James, he has the best QB and may be in a high scoring game.

That's all I got.

It's really just a wild guess at this point, isn't it? But I probably lean towards the vet Thomas. I haven't heard anything about any setbacks, he has a, mostly, competent QB and shouldn't be seeing a lot of extra attention from defenses with Olave opposite. I also don't anticipate a great running game so the Saints may be passing a bit more.

Just a hunch but with Kamara suspended I would go with Williams.

ESPN greatly favors Mostert in their projections but everyone here and other sites seem to prefer Swift. Also have Addison and Flowers but wasn't really considering them for week 1 until I see their usage.

I never use this forum but trying to find the least bit of serviceable trash here has me scrambling, I was starting Ritchie but now questionable with a knee

I wouldn't consider Addison or Flowers this week either.

Personally I prefer Swift because he's not injured, definitely has the talent, is on a great offense (we think) and I believe he is the lead back in what doesn't appear to be a very competitive game (on paper). I think 15 opportunities is possible and I think he can do a lot with that kind of volume.

Mind you I think I have a pro-Swift bias for whatever reason.

Mostert also looks like a solid option and doesn't get the credit he deserves. This game could be a track meet so there may definitely be opportunities. He isn't a bad start over Swift. But I think this offense will run through the Tua & the WRs and I question if he can do more with 15 opportunities (his average per start last year) than Swift.

It's close but I like

Mack Hollins is good for a couple blow up games every year but, good luck figuring out when.

This is a tough one for me and comes down to Howell vs Wilson. Both will be missing their WR1s. Both at home against likely not good defenses. I slightly lean Howell.

If you are looking for the best chance of playing time go Tucker. I am trying to figure out how to add him as well.

Honestly I don't think it should be on the radar. I think it is more psychological than anything with the idea of protecting against an ugly, low scoring game.

Predicting game scripts is natural, I do it, but seldom plays out the way we think.

Bottom line is Mixon's production has zero impact on Chubb's production.

But I still like Jacobs>Mixon

RBs- Mattison ,J.Cooks, C.Akers WRs-D.Johnson, T.Lockett, M.Brown-Ari. or do I try one of the rookies - Skyy Moore, M.Mimms Would appreciate all the help I could get.

Yeah, I only tend to do this when I have both players ranked close, and one of the games could be a brutal divisional game that could be low scoring for both teams. Otherwise, I would not let it sway me. Regardless, I still had it Chubb/Jacobs.

For me this comes down to Mattison and Cook. I say Mattison, only because they should walk Tampa out of the stadium.

Just because of matchup I prefer Mostert. We know he will be the RB1 this week (or until he gets hurt in the second quarter). I think we are still kind of unsure of the Swift/Gainwell/Penny usage.

Good options. I don't go with the rookies or any Cardinal.

I like Cook but hate his matchup so I'd pass.

Diontae has a tougher matchup, but less so with no Bosa. He is also such a great route runner it's tough to believe he could get stymied. Should have an okay PPR floor.

Lockett is terribly underrated for his entire career and it's a great matchup. He's your upside play. If you're nervous about Smith-Bazinga, I get it but I'm not...yet.

Mattison isn't exciting but the Vikings should win and he seems like the only show in town. He should have a decent game.

Akers is the only skill player on the Rams at the moment. He should see 20 opportunities in a plus matchup. But it's tough to think the Rams won't be terrible. Still, volume is king.

Because of matchup and uncertainty pretty clearly

Dotson>Hall

Your other options are really a pick 'em.

I probably play the matchup and hope for a short yardage TD (or a lot more) and go with

Robinson>>everyone else at flex

For your WR it's kind of a coin toss. If it was full PPR I might got with Amari but I like Lockett a lot and he has a better matchup.
