Week 1: I'm benching Ray Rice for... (1 Viewer)

Benching your #1 pick just shows how some ppl are noobs to fantasy football. You drafted Rice #1 so you don't have any type of debate on who to start in that position.Do us a favor and before you hit the "post" button, use what brain cells you have left and think first. Mods delete this threat before others get infected by his stupidly.
quite the contrary..the noobs will play Rice no matter what...the more experienced can see that maybe a lesser back or WR(or QB in flex league) with a much better match up is the way to go. Sounds like the start no matter what crowd here have some pretty crappy benches. sorry you didn't draft better..lol
Why draft a guy in the 1st round only to question should he play him or bench him???
Because you own two RB's who you're projecting to score more than him.

Oh projections? Ahh ok got it. Let me borrow your crystal ball when your done with it.

Yes you want to win the first game of the season but you can't lose the season if Rice has a bad day! If you've drafted him play him, simple as that. He's too good to sit and you know he's going to touch the ball, unless you have another #1 running back to plug in you have to play him, I am and won't regret the decision.

Thank you Bears. Bottom line, I would feel much better knowing I started my #1 draft pick and he goes off rather than overthinking it and benching him and he goes off. If he doesn't do well then oh well, he is your stud, start him.

who cares where u drafted the guy?? if you have options that look better to you, Beanie, THT then play them no matter what people on here say.

I agree...where he was drafted means squat. Not going with the guy projected to get more points(or you feel will get more points) is not maximizing your odds of winning. It's a game folks..

No fkin kidding dude. Now, would you rather start your #1 draft pick over your 8th rounder you think will have a better day and only get 5 or 6 points out of your #1, while the guy on your bench has 15 and you lost by 8?

My #1 rule, and I've been playing ff for 24 years....PLAY WHAT YOU LIKE NOT WHAT OTHERS SAY. If you lose because you listen to someone and you would've been right, nothing feels worse.

The bold is the key here. YOU THINK!!!!! This is exactly my point. "I think" Rice will have the best weeks out of anyone I could have drafted in his position so that why I drafted him in the 1st round. The chance of Rice having a good day is so much greater then a guy I would of drafted in the 8th. Wouldn't you agree?Rice has a elite FB blocking for him, look at what Leach did for Foster

He is going to get an average of 18-22 carries a game

He is a PPR machine

McGahee is gone

Cam Cameron has stated several times, "We will run Rice till he is tired." "Rice is our goaline back."

The acquisition of Evans will allow BAL to stretch the field

Cmon now, Rice could end up being the #1 RB in FF this year. I understand he is playing PIT but I just don't agree benching him when his chances of going off, even against a great Def, is so much greater than any other RB drafted in later rounds.

Look I know I might of been a bit harsh in my initial response, but I find it quite bothersome that this is the 1st week of football and ppl are already debating to bench a guy they drafted #1 overall.

No, I would not agree. So I'm sitting him for guys I think will score more. It's a 10 teamer so my squad is deep. In another 16 teamer I have him in, I don't have any better options so he's in.

You sound too obsessed with draft position. If you could start any 2 or 3 RBs this week, would Ray Rice really be on your short list of options?

I know Rice has some of his statistical worst games against the steel curtains but I know if I don't start him, he will blow up. He has to eventually have a great game against them...

To answer op's question--I'd bench him for anyone NOT playing pit, semi-seriously. And for those expecting big receiving numbers.....rice will be pass protecting a lot more than you think. It is all about over unders...and right from the getgo....you're just "hoping" rice does well--this is a sure way to lose.

As i said in another thread, it still depends on who is on your bench. Wells over Rice--sure. M.Lynch over Rice, ummm....no.

meh I feel better when I know I started the guy I think will score the most points. Not the guy the herd thinks will score the most points. Where you drafted a player means squat the second the draft is over.

classic over thinking it. good job
:confused:Rice has 11 FP right now. I don't think you can conclude this was overthinking it yet. Heckuva 1st quarter for sure, but talk about jumpin the gun.
ok so 12 points before half is jumping the gun. sure thing.
Absolutely. First of all, we have no idea yet how other RB's are performing who people sat Rice for. Not saying Rice won't go on to become the top scoring RB today - but absolutely it's jumping the gun.

One thing I learned is to never over think the matchup. You drafted him for a reason in the 1st Rd so never sit him unless injured.

With that said never second guessed his matchup and started him with confidence. He is setting up to be leading FF RB scorer this week.
