Week 1 pickups I'm considering (1 Viewer)

Add Estrada, drop Barret

Add Blalock, drop Gordon

Add Ryan Church, drop Sosa

Add Trot Nixon, drop Edmonds

Sounds good to me.

2 games is a pretty good determination of how the season will unfold.

Hell, I've got Eric Byrnes, and I fully expect a .500 season this year

First two are mistakes.
I agree. No way would I make those moves. I don't see Blaylock having a very good year at all and its too early to cut Gordon, he would be picked up in a second.Barrett is going to have a good year, not great but good. .280 16 70I do like dropping Sosa and picking up Church.

This brings up an interesting point.

I find myself more hesitant to change my roster in baseball as opposed to football. Given the longer season, it just seems like a week is not enough time to evaluate any guy on my roster with any possible certainty.

Is that more common? To be honest, I don't think I'll make any waiver/FA moves in my league for at least 2 or 3 weeks, just to get a feel for my team. The only caveat would be injury needs.

I do the same thing, unless it is an issue of injury (as you said) or replacing a last round pick that i just took to take someone. i usually wait a couple of weeks in football, too..exc. for picking up players that others dropped too soon to get a week one wonder. :) actually, i'd do that in baseball, too.

Do it. Edmonds is still not healthy, and looks clueless at the plate. When healthy last year he still looked clueless. Cardinals offense is pathetic right now, and won't be even close to Cleveland's even when it is clicking.

I think Edmonds might be done as a fantasy performer

Agreed. It's way too early.I would only make a move this early for two things - injury or if a guy you thought would have a full time job starts to get platooned.I've got my eyes on how the Rockies are going to use Taveras with Finley for example.
