Week 1 Venting Thread (1 Viewer)

Has anyone's season(s) been devastated by Week 1 events?

It's certainly early to throw in the towel but for all the quitters out there here's your chance :banned:

In my start 2 QB league my starting QBs (Brady, Young) were destroyed this week and I'm last on the waiver priority. Outlook: not so good.

Feel free to chime in with your sorry situations.

;)

etc, etc...

Outthought myself & played Ginn over Bowe which cost me 12 points. I'm down 30 with ADP & Zach Miller left tonight instead of a much more manageable 18.

Got Brady in a dynasty league..have Randy Moss also. waited 9 months for the Brady/Moss connection (traded for Moss in the offseason) and that is up in flames until next season. Have to believe that Moss takes a hit with Brady out as well...also have Burelson who got injured to add icing to the cake... :hot:

I own TO and Witten, opponent has Barber. Witten to the half yard line earlier, Barber with the TD. TO to the half yard line (pretty sure on replay that he was in), Barber with the TD. :wall:
Same boat except I also own Romo. Now I need a good game out of Peterson or it will cost me a win. I wish Phillips would have at least called a Timeout to give the replay booth more time.

My 3 WRs & TE combined for 7 pts (Colston, Coles, Ginn, & Utecht). Cant wait to get back Marshall next week and sign Fasano or Rosario. I have a feeling my 1st rd pick (Addai) is gonna piss me off all year.

I started out pretty well in most of my leagues, my only real vent is something I knew was going to happen. I should have sat LJ, but my other choices were rookie backs who I wanted to see play first. The only other thing, that will probably bother me all season, is figuring out who to start at my 3-armed QBBC. I chose poorly in week 1.

And Parker scores two three TD's today. Where was that last year when I had him? :lmao:
As I was watching the games yesterday, that was all I could think of. I took Parker in the first round last year and he scores 2 touchdowns all year. So why don't you out do last years production in the first game this year. :bag:

I started:

Addai, Joseph IND RB 5.70pts

Jacobs, Brandon NYG RB 13.40pts

Maroney, Laurence NEP RB 5.10pts

and left Turner, Michael ATL RB 35.60pts on the bench.

:P :hot: :hot:

This stuff always seems to happen to me:

Two fantasy leagues:

-In League 1 I'm down by 16 points (no decimal scoring) with Adrian Peterson left for me and nobody left for him

-In League 2, I'm up by 16.2 points (decimal scoring obviously) with nobody left for me and Adrian Peterson left for him!

The best I can do is manage to tie in one and win the other if Peterson has 16.0 or 16.1.

I guess the upside is that I'm virtually guaranteed at least one win out of those two, unless Peterson somehow scores exactly 16.2 points, in which case I'll have 2 ties!

I. Bruce - WR SF

No catches; but WORSE is based on the play-by-play breakdown, it looks like they did not even target him the whole game.

What is worse?:

Having your whole team(s) crap the bed (which was the norm for me the last three years in week 1), or...

League 1 (10 teams) - Scoring 100 points (non-PPR league - very tough to break 100), good enough for the second best score of the week. Guess who I faced? Yup, the #1 team. (With my beloved Steelers D on the bench while the vaunted San Diego D got scorched by Carolina)

League 2 (12 teams) - Scoring 153 points, good enough for third best score of the week. Again, faced the #1 team (he got 51 points out of Turner).

League 3 (12 teams) - Scoring 116 points (thanks for nothing, Coles), good enough for the second best score of the week. And what's this? Oh, I faced the top scoring team in yet another league.

Meh. Finally had teams that started off scoring points, only to get screwed by the schedule.

My "elite" WR corps including Colston and Holt: Totaled around 6 or 7 points between the two of them.

Combine them with Carson Palmer's 6 point outing and I have around 13 points total between the three.

Yeah...I saw that coming...oy...

Wow. That has to be the worst I've read yet. For a start 2 QB league, that is basically death for your team.

To my following players,

S-Jax

Holmes

Thanks for #### ing the bed.

In conclusion, F### you.

Regards,

MGT

Why in the f did I ever take a player from St Louis. I should have my fricken head examined. I tell myself that s### EVERY year before I draft or trade "ok, don't take any players from s### teams w/ bad OL's" Good advice that I can't ever seem to follow.

I'd really like to start a thread called "Who in the f### CAN you count on in FF 2008?"

The list seems to get shorter and shorter every year....

F###!!!!!!

There, I feel better now. It's only week one one and things always seem worse than they really are (except in St Louis). I have but one humble request to the FF gods:

"FF Gods, please let S-JAX have a good home game next week so I can unload him. I think he's a good player, but I don't have 3 years to wait for the Rams to get it together. I'm a Lions fan, isn't that punishment enough? Thanks."

Lost by 1 point this week. :goodposting: Why do I do this to myself? I would rather lose by 50 than 1. It would have been nice if Grant could've scored a TD on one of his goal line carries in the first half, or got the ball in the endzone on that long run. The Rodgers QB sneak was also painful to watch.

I don't understand the refusal to put in a backup QB in a blowout. Why is Jay Cutler in there up 34-7? More importantly, why is he throwing the football? If I was a Raider defender, I would have taken a cheap shot at him.

And its not just the Broncos. Its every team in the NFL. I was surprised to see Kolb get in against the Rams this week; Reid has done the same thing as Shanahan.

i really wouldn't want to do the player harm, but the coach isn't in the game and if i break his leg, its not as big of a deal.

I just lost by 1 point. Jay Cutler took 3 kneeldowns to fall to 9 yards(0 points) and his passing yards fell from 300 to 299(-4 points as we get a 3 yard bonus for 300 passing yards).

Colston, Jones-Drew, Chad Johnson, Alge Crumpler combined for 12 points.

Edit: Final scoring gave me the win (166-165)!

Well, the craptastic performances of MJD, Braylon Edwards, Ted Ginn & Dallas Clark were almost overcome by Jay Cutler and a solid IDP group, but alas....I came 1.73 points short.

I basically needed just one more 8 yard catch from any of my players and I win....or if Ginn or MJD had gotten a single kick return (we get 1pt/10 yds) I would have won.

I've asked it once in here and once in the kick returner thread, but.....

WHY FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY DIDN'T TED GINN RETURN KICKOFFS?!?!?!!?

I wasted some time today to try and find out the answer from some Dolphins websites and even listened to Sparano's post game interview...nada. No explination. The best thing I got was that Bess (one of the guys who DID get a KR) was told right before the game that he would get some returns. Seriously? They told him right before the game? WTH?!?!?!?!

All I needed was 1 point from the Minn defense that added Jared Allen this year. Instead I get exactly zero. To add insult to injury, I guess our defensive scoring doesn't give any points to blocked field goals which is the only good play the Minn Defense had all night.

So much for stud WR this year. CJ, Holt & Coles combined for 3 total catches. My other trio of Braylon, Colston and Housh completely crapped the bed too.

;) oh yeah, another reason to LOVE the Misfits!

now, about that 89.42--89.32 L in MOX-I

I mean, did Drew Brees really have to go 343/3?

340/3 wasn't good enough?

Lets see..trade for LT before the draft. Hurt! Barber with the ribs. then lose by .20pts in the first week because of Djax who last year had 1 game over 10pts... :lmao: :D :censored: :hot:  :wall:

I lost in two leagues by a TOTAL OF .09 points! .06 in one and .03 in another...sweet. :lmao:
I feel your pain. I'm in three leagues and lost by 3 points (had the second highest score of the week), 2 points, and 0.95 points (had the second highest score of the week).

Well, my steaming pile of poo TE Scheffler cost me not 1, but 2 games. One league, where he is my TE and another where Cutler is my QB. Lost both by less than a TD. First Scheffler catches the long pass from Cutler and runs like he's in the special Olympics trying to get to the endzone. Then he drops a perfect strike from Cutler in the back of the endzone. I'm beginning to see why Shanahan was reluctant to move him up the depth chart.

:bye:

:P I was wondering what the hell was going on there.Put me in the "lost by under a point" camp, this time thanks to a late Champ Bailey tackle.

I lost by 6.5. Guys who should have done more:

- Braylon Edwards (2pts)

- Jared Allen (1pt)

These two guys alone should have been able to add another 7pts between them, even with less sucky games.

Guys who did okay, but probably had a bit more in them:

- David Harris (5pts)

- Adrian Wilson (6.5pts)

- Kurt Warner (13pts)

Just an extra point here or there spread over several players would have made the difference.

Coaching decision that outright cost me the game:

- Started Selvin Young (knowing full well Shanny loves RBBC)

- Benched Chris Johnson (wasn't sure if the rook would see quality minutes in first game. Oops!)

Lineman downfield penatly cost me one game....and I need a measily 6 points from Minnesota Defense in another...they got me 2...

Overanalysis can be a killer for your fantasy team.

Case in point ... I read all week how much Kurt Warner was going to light up the Niners, in a game that looked like it had the makings of a shootout. I also noticed that Jay Cutler was without Brandon Marshall and that the Raiders looked to have a fairly solid pass D, leading me to believe the ground games would take center stage.

So what do I do? Play Warner. And lose by five points. Had I played Cutler, I'd have won by two.

It also helped that I faced Donovan McNabb, who had what promises to be his best game of the season in week one. Could someone have tackled Hank F-in g Baskett? I had the third best score of the week in my league, and faced the guy with the second best. Fourth year in a row I've started off with a loss by less than seven points.

Lesson learned as Cutler won't be coming out of my lineup this year ('cept of course for week 8).

So, we lost 134.71 to 134.04.

A big #### YOU goes to the following people:

David Garrard: You had a phenomenal TD/INT ratio last year. Quite impressive really. That doesn't mean you had to go out in Week 1 and do your best to try to match the entire INT total for last year in one game. I mean, good lookin' out and all, but #### ME, throw it to anyone NOT in a Titans uni, eh?

Tony Romo: Had you not thrown that ####### INT in the endzone, Nick Folk would have gotten another XP and we'd have won.

Joseph Addai: You really couldn't make it out of the end zone? Really? What kind of self respecting RB are you? Pansy ###...Thanks to you, Chicago's D got the only safety of the week and we lost.

Aaron Rodgers: First off, congrats on the big win. But seriously, you couldn't have found Greg Jennings for one MORE ####### 1 YARD RECEPTION IN THE 2ND HALF?!? And by one more, I mean ONE ####### BALL THROWN HIS WAY? JUST ONE BUDDY....

Lions Defense: LEARN TO ####### TACKLE. Thanks to y'all, Turner torched us and we lose by a whopping 0.67 points. Thanks, fellas.

The devastations continue....

TD Only (1Q, 2R, 2 WR, 1 FLEX, 1 K, 1D)

QBs: Brady/Delhomme

RB: LJ/Edge/Graham

WR: Colston, Boldin, Burleson, Muhammad, Galloway

Week 1 Score: 0

New lineup after injuries:

QB: Delhomme

RB: No change

WR: Boldin, (Muhammad or Galloway)

:lmao:

The more I think about this week, the angrier I get.

Seriously, I lost by 1.7 pts. Thanks to Braylon Edwards, Dallas Clark & Ted Ginn.

Braylon - worst game since week 16 of the 2006 season. Drops 3 passes in the game.

Dallas Clark - injured in 1st quarter

Ted Ginn - inexplicibly removed from kick return duty with NO warning from anyone in the organization. Good thing you Dolphins kept that state secret out of the media. Heaven forbid anyone actually knows you might take your return specialist off of returns. And thanks for the 2 catches and 1 carry. Stellar.

If I get any of the following, I win:

1 more 8 yard catch

18 more return yards

1 more assisted tackle

Why did 3 of my starters opt to have a game that is worse than ANY of their games last year...... AT THE SAME F-ING TIME!!! ARRRRGGHHHHHH!!!!!
