sucks how many of the high pick players last night impacts my team. here's where i ended up based on a lot of the logic on this thread and across the board. posting this for reference for some of u who were considering similar moves.
14 team 14 player non-ppr salary auction league with a salary cap. winning FAAB bid becomes the player's salary during the season.
my rb's before the waiver last night (start 1 plus flex): j howard, c hyde, rawls, lacy, breida
my wr's before the waiver last night (start 3 plus flex): a brown, l fitz, ar15, ty will (sd), crowder
maxed out my cap on Chris Carson and Nelson Agholor for Eddie Lacy and AR15.
For the RB spot, others available were Cohen, Williams, and Allen. I really didn't want any part of Cohen, I can't ever see there being enough value in Chicago to start both Howard and Cohen. The hype on Cohen looks deserved from a skills perspective, but that one drop aside, Howard is still running strong and Cohen is what he is for this year as long as Howard is healthy, a very good receiving back. Since I was unfortunately vested in the Seattle backfield, it made sense to lock it up with Rawls/Carson instead of Rawls/Lacy. Lacy is a bum. Carson looks like he could really be as good as he looked in the preseason. I'll take that upside over Allen and Williams.
BTW, another owner made Cohen the highest salaried player in our league, almost 30% of cap. This kind of move isn't unusual in the middle of the year for our league for a one week rental types who you can start right away and free up that cap space following week, but this kind of move for a player you have to sit on for a few weeks is rough on the team. He'll have some tough decisions if he needs to replace any of his other players.
For the WR spot I took the guy whom I thought would have the most fantasy meaningful targets between Agholor, Paul Richardson, and Marqis Lee. Lee steps right into AR15's role, but I barely wanted AR15 in that spot with the bad qb play, I don't see Lee having AR15 upside. I may regret not taking Richardson, I really like his upside and how under the radar he is still. Agholor looks to be putting it together, he's a third year receiver, Wentz seem to like him, and I'm a Eagles fan. So, there's that. Will probably start Ty Will (SD) over him for now.
