* CAR vs NO -- CAR D impressive against GB last week. Not generating the same amount of pressure (14 sacks), but a solid D. NO offense in the dumpster with rookie at QB and now no Shaheed. That said, CAR hasn't been favored in...forever...and after a big win over GB, wonder if this is a come out flat game.

I think it comes down to Tez & Woody for me. Woody is in essentially a 50/50 time share for usage and, you can expect 14 or so opportunities, and he is being used in the passing game (12 targets over the last three games). The matchup sucks. People don't run against the Jags a lot and, when they do, they don't do it well. Still, with Mills under center I expect the Texans to try to run more than normal.

I believe Godwin is trending out again and, I don't think the Pats are as good as their record and numbers suggest. Look at their schedule, excluding games against the Pats their opponents are 25-43. That's gotta be the easiest schedule in the league by far. Tez should see maybe, another 6 targets and maybe he can make something happen with that.

Don't love Hock with JJ until JJ starts looking like a legit NFL QB. The defense beat the Lions.

Demario will Pop off a couple times per year but, I wouldn't rely on consistent usage.

Unless it's Dillon Gabriel, I always start a QB. And Jacoby is playing lights out so far.

Personally, I think Doubs will see more volume with Kraft out. I also think Wicks is trending out (trust but verify). The Eagles pass D is middle of the pack, although they haven't allowed a lot of TDs which, I consider a more volatile stat and, their offense seems more likely (on paper) to put pressure on the Pack to score.

Downs has found the end zone three weeks in a row and, has had 8, 7, 3 & 9 targets over the last four. He's a fine option but, teams don't pass on the Falcons (#1 in attempts and #1 in yards against, although they have allowed more TDs, 13, than the Eagles (8).

Tried to obtain K. Williams and Bijan in package deals. Nope. However, the same owner offered me Javonte Williams for Pickens. Per various trade value charts, Williams is valued higher than both Rico Dowdle and Chase Brown (and I am in discussions with the owners of both of these guys).

J. WIlliams was on my avoid draft list preseason and boy have I been wrong. His production is undeniable. Plays in a great offense and literally has nobody stealing touches. Could go grab Blue for free for a handcuff too. Doesn't do diddly in the reception department though.

Again, trading away Pickens would give me:

* QB: L. Jackson
* RB: J. Williams, T. Pollard, I. Pacheco, J. Mason (B. Corum, E. Wilson, R. Davis)
* WR: J. Chase, T. Franklin, A. Pierce, P. Washington, M. Washington

I guess another way to put this question is, is trading Javonte better than Rico or C. Brown? What would the priority order be?

Non PPR, I like what Harvey has been doing lately but, he's still getting less than a third of the snaps and a miniscule amount of touches. His three week run feels very fluky (Drew Bennett lite).

I'm a fan of Slayton but I don't see the upside, especially in non-PPR.

Good options.

Nico went 8-66-0 with Davis Mills against a very good Denver D (even without Surtain). The Jags pass D is definitely worse.

Swift has been on a tear, Monangai will certainly see an uptick (maybe 40/60) but I don't see a scenario where he leads the Bears in touches (barring injury) and, I think Swift is far more effective when he doesn't have to be used as a true feature back.

Sutton plays the Raiders. The only downside is if the Broncos roll, a distinct possibility. The run game may be front and center in the second half so, you may need to hope for high efficiency.

As I said, good options. Personally, I go with the guy that I enjoy watching the most and, for me it's:

* C. Watson vs PHI - Golden and Wicks could both be out, plus T. Kraft gone. PHI D has been beatable.

* P. Washington @HOU -- Not a great matchup, but BT trending out and T. Hunter out. J. Meyers on the way in, but he may take some time to get acclimated and the coach has already indicated Washington stays in the slot. Again, bad matchup, but he should get plenty of action.

* Tez Johnson vs NE -- Godwin probably out. Evans probably out. Egbuka in. Otton could play a larger role. That said, Tez has popped and this could be a high scorer vs. NE.

Yeah, Watson is poised and the Eagles have a middle of the pack pass D which, is probably related to having a top 10 scoring offense.

In PPR, this week Washington seems like gold with Jakobi getting up to speed and BTJ limited at best. Hate the matchup a lot though. Even with Davis Mills at QB, I think the Texans can make any team play ugly and, the Jags sink to the level of their competition. The upside is, I think Trevor will be looking for his safety net a bunch.

Tez has a nice opportunity. Probably 6-7 targets with TD upside.

Gut call, upside play is Watson. Grabbing the higher floor is Washington. Tez falls in the middle.

* J. Mason vs BALT -- A. Jones DNP yesterday and could be iffy or limited. BALT D starting to get healthy. Not sure what to think with this offense with McCarthy. If MN gets down, could see more Z. Scott.

Mason is the lead back this week IMO. He isn't dazzling but, he's on the field the most, will see at least 50% of the RB opps and is the GL option. He just seems to have the right combo here.

Harvey could see a bump in usage if the Broncos roll which, should happen but, I still worry about his utilization.

When I watch Seattle Charbonnet always seems like he's getting the majority of the work but, when I check the stats, he's still clearly behind KWIII.

The logic is that Mills will lock in on Schultz more as a safety valve. Last week Schultz went 4-28 on 6 targets with Mills. Meh. The Jags are weak against TEs in PPR since week 3: Schultz 7, Tonges 13, Kelce 17, Barner 7, T.Ferguson 11, Bowers 39. Schultz should be a solid option but, it's still difficult to love him. Unfortunately you can say the same for all your options.

Shakir has quietly gotten 9, 5, 7 & 8 targets over the last four weeks. He's the defacto #1 WR in Buffalo and, the Bills seem to agree considering they didn't make a move on Tuesday. Considering the matchup, you have to start him IMO.

Goedert is the anti Schultz. He may only see 3 targets but, all he does is catch TDs. Schultz could see 9 targets but hasn't found the end zone all year. The Packers have shut down the Steelers and Panthers TEs the last two weeks but, otherwise TEs do well against them. Probably better than against the Jags (Bowers is an alien and skews the data against them).

Coin toss but, I think I go with the TD efficiency

Plus the Niners seem to have the Rams number.

Who do you enjoy watching more? Great choices IMO. When it comes to defenses I do like to think about big plays, I don't know it for a fact but, my common thinking is that an offense that puts up more points forces the opposing offense to take more chances to keep pace. I would love to see an analysis about turnover and sack rates broken down by how many points a team is trailing by.

I would damn the statistics and go with Shakir for sure. He's getting 7+ targets over the last four and, I think the Bills could put up 40+ on this Dolphins team.

Otton is probably the next option in this tiered PPR format (very interesting BTW, never quite seen that). I believe Godwin and Bucky are trending out (monitor that closely and ask again later in the week) and the Patriots can put up points. The offense should run through Baker as long as Bucky is out.

The final option for me comes down to Washington, Hubbard & Loveland.

I get the logic of starting Hubbard and thinking this could be a Panthers rout and, I like the possibility of him being a GL guy to preserve Rico and his dinged up quad.

I like to think that talent wins out and Loveland will start becoming a true part of the offense but, it was Cinci, there are a lot of mouths to feed in Chi and, I still don't have full faith in Caleb (even if I drafted him as my QB1 in SP League Uno).

I hate Washington's matchup but, I give a week for Jakobi to get up to speed, BTJ is at least limited at best (on top of being a colossal disappointment) and Breton Strange is still out. Who else is going to be Lawrence's safety net?

First, thanks for the in-depth reply. I don't disagree with any of it. I am curious, though... no love at all for Tracy? I mean, I get it... he wasn't very good earlier this year (which is part of the reason Skat took over). And, maybe he's in (at best) a time-share with Singletary. I just figure that, if there were any week he might do SOMETHING, this might be it. That said, he might not have the upside that Loveland or the WR's do.

Also, yes, no positional restrictions based on my list. We got rid of PK and DST last year and added a third true flex, so you can start 1-4 RB, 2-5 WR, and 1-4 TE (total of 7).

I like the tiered PPR a lot. It adds a layer of strategy which I used to my advantage when the league started. Won it in the initial season (2012) drafting Jimmy Graham at 1.11, along with Julio Jones (2.02), Andre Johnson (4.02), and Eric Decker (5.11). Didn't take my first RB until Round 9 (CJ Spiller) that year. Graham ended up TE1, Spiller RB7, and Johnson/Decker/Jones were WR 6/8/11 respectively.

In 2013, I used a similar "wait on RB" strategy and won it again... Took Calvin Johnson (WR4) at 1.04, Demaryius Thomas (WR1... RIP) at 2.09, Tony Gonzalez (TE2) at 4.09, and Julius Thomas (TE3) at 12.09. My top two RB's at years end that year were Joique Bell and Zac Stacy who I drafted in Rounds 15 and 18 respectively.

In 2014, I won it again with the trio of top-six WR's in D. Thomas/A. Brown/Beckham, Greg Olsen (TE5), and my top RB was Fred Jackson (7th round).

Of course, it's not always that easy, and after a three-peat to start the league, I'm still now looking for my 4th championship a decade later.

Leaning towards leaving the JAC WR's on the bench this week (HOU is stingy against the pass... #3 vs WR's), and pulling the trigger on Tracy (should be a high-scoring game vs CHI), Shakir (start your studs?), and Loveland (who's trending up). Thoughts?

I would damn the statistics and go with Shakir for sure. He's getting 7+ targets over the last four and, I think the Bills could put up 40+ on this Dolphins team.

Otton is probably the next option in this tiered PPR format (very interesting BTW, never quite seen that). I believe Godwin and Bucky are trending out (monitor that closely and ask again later in the week) and the Patriots can put up points. The offense should run through Baker as long as Bucky is out.

The final option for me comes down to Washington, Hubbard & Loveland.

I get the logic of starting Hubbard and thinking this could be a Panthers rout and, I like the possibility of him being a GL guy to preserve Rico and his dinged up quad.

I like to think that talent wins out and Loveland will start becoming a true part of the offense but, it was Cinci, there are a lot of mouths to feed in Chi and, I still don't have full faith in Caleb (even if I drafted him as my QB1 in SP League Uno).

Very disappointing.

I have Schultz in because I think the Colts will be plenty fired up after acquiring Sauce but, Pitts is still good for 7 targets/game. But, if CJ Stroud is out with a concussion, I think I have to pivot to Pitts.

I like Pitts more by a pretty wide margin. In general, I think he's a better TE (Mooney has been a decoy with Penix) but adding no Stroud, to me, is huge. If I did weekly rankings, I'd probably have Pitts in the 10-15 range. I don't think Schutz would be in my top-20.

On to week 10 and another week of trying to guess the right lineup. Standard scoring non-ppr league.

I need to pick 3 out of these players and 1 must be a WR:

Warren vs LAC - Getting volume which is huge and had 2 TD's last week
Etienne vs HOU - Decent last week and had 58% snap share
Vidal vs PIT - Had a juicy matchup last week and did absolutely nothing with it; 72% snap share but that could go down this week
Johnston vs PIT - Was targeted this week and caught 4 passes and a TD; 2nd on team with a snap share of 68%
Olave vs CAR - His lowest targets of the season with 4; Is that a sign of what is coming for the rest of the season? Shaheed now gone so that can only help
Deebo vs DET - I've fallen into the Deebo trap too many times this season; he doesn't perform when expected

I think I'd have to go Olave against Carolina, especially with Shaheed gone, I think Olave is 10+ targets until we know he isn't. I like Warren against the Chargers as well. I think Watson is not really an option out of this group. For me its between Washington and Tez, and I lean ever so slightly toward Washington just because he seems more PPR friendly.

* Z. Charbonet vs AZ -- Should be able to score on AZ. Could get a TD plunge. He is who he is.

* RJ Harvey vs LV -- Not getting a ton of touches, but he's making them count. Floor is soooo low here. Would hate to stare at 4 points starting tonight thru Sunday.

* J. Mason vs BALT -- A. Jones DNP yesterday and could be iffy or limited. BALT D starting to get healthy. Not sure what to think with this offense with McCarthy. If MN gets down, could see more Z. Scott.

I wouldn't start Harvey tonight. I think you wait to hear more on Jones, and if he sounds like he's getting his normal role, I'd go Charbonnet. If Jones is out, or very limited, then Mason.

* DET @WASH -- No J. Daniels. No McLaurin. Mariota in. Mariota can move the offense, but is prone to a mistake or two. DET with a decent amount of sacks (28) and INTs (8).

or

* CAR vs NO -- CAR D impressive against GB last week. Not generating the same amount of pressure (14 sacks), but a solid D. NO offense in the dumpster with rookie at QB and now no Shaheed. That said, CAR hasn't been favored in...forever...and after a big win over GB, wonder if this is a come out flat game.

Judkins probably does have a better matchup, but I think Kyren is on a much better offense. It would have to be a much bigger difference in matchups than this for me to consider benching Kyren for Judkins.

Need to start a total of 7 from the list below (sit 4). This is TIERED PPR (0.5 for RB, .75 for WR, and 1.0 for TE). Assuming Dowdle plays, I have him, Egbuka, Jefferson, and McBride as locks, which means I need 3 of the remaining 7. A few other thoughts....

Shakir seems like a logical start, but MIA is #1 in fewest points given up to WR's.
