Week 11 - Injury Thread (1 Viewer)

FYI...someone took some obvious sarcasm of mine in a game thread and quoted it as injury news.

I responded to your sarcasm right after you posted it & knew right then that's what it was. Obvious fro the post you quoted...lol.
Still, this kind of making up a real injury result will never be put up with. People expect real information in a thread like this. Not jokes that looks like real information.J

Bass 'n Brew's post was in the gamethread not the injury thread. Personally I think the joke was pretty obvious but I can see how it was misunderstood. He probably could have added something to the post to make it painfully obvious he was having a go at the guy he was responding to.Anyway, it was others that ran with it and posted in the injury thread. It's too bad it wasn't nipped in the bud earlier.

From Rotoworld:

Shaun Phillips-LB- Chargers Nov. 19 - 9:07 pm et

Chargers OLB Shaun Phillips appears to have aggravated his calf injury in tonight's game against the Broncos.

He has been on and off the field throughout the first quarter, but currently is on the sideline. His return is uncertain.

You really think it was obvious. KJ was on sideline, carted off, everyone was waiting for info, and then 2 guys posted the fake stuff. It sucked!!!

Marlon McCree landed hard on his right knee just before the half and had to be helped to the sideline by two trainers -- he couldn't put any weight on the leg at all.

from cbs

News: Lions RB Kevin Jones hurt his ankle at Arizona and was carted off to the locker room in Week 11. Head coach Rod Marinelli admitted that the injury was a sprain, but said after the game, "I don't know how high it is yet." He left with 8 rush yards on four carries and was replaced by Arlen Harris.

Analysis: Jones may have suffered a high-ankle sprain, which is an annoying injury that can limit productivity for as long as a month. Moreover, the Lions play a Thanksgiving game in Week 12 (more on that later), so Marinelli may have pulled Jones out from this game to try and keep him as fresh as possible for the meeting with the Dolphins. Monitor his status over the coming days.

more news, but still not very clear.

I don't want to SPAM up the injury thread so this is the last thing I'll say about it. It was obvious to me this was a joke aimed at the person who had just said he'd crap his pants if Jones broke an ankle, but I can also see how it was misunderstood. What sucked is that then it was brought to the injury thread as 'news' and it took hours before we realized that the original source of the 'news' was a poorly executed joke in response to a :ptts: post.

That is INCREDIBLY ENCOURAGING!!! thanks for the info! I'm happier now, even though KJ cost me the win today. Let's keep 'em crossed shall we?

A) I didn't post anything in the injury thread about KJ or an ankle injury. Everything I posted in here was a fact and followed up with clarification as events unfolded. If obvious sarcasm, jokes, and teasing the :ptts: folks isn't allowed in a game thread, please update the TOS and notify the staff to also adhere/enforce this policy. B) Would real information include a break down on how tightly a player was holding the puke can (especially when he was leaning on said can rather then holding). DISCLAIMER: SMITH WASN'T PUKING FROM AN INTERNAL INJURY. ALTHOUGH IT WAS REFERENCE TO AS AN UPPER TIER PUKE IN THIS THREAD, THE GAME ANNOUNCERS CLEARLY MENTIONED THE LINGERING EFFECTS OF A FAMILY FLU.

Take this as your notification: There will be ZERO crap like "player X just broke his ankle" with no other clarification in any game thread. Do not ever do this.

People read these threads for serious information. They expect what is posted to be accurate. If you want to play amateur comedian, take it to the FFA, not a game thread. And especially not saying the starting RB is out for the season with an injury that has in fact taken him out of the game.

Yeah Thanks, I subscribe for a number of reasons. I have been with this site since cheatsheets.net and crap like this does not sit well with most. Thanks Joe for your support.

Honestly this doesn't make any sense. why would marinelli "save" him for the t-day game when there's a game right now to try to win. sportsline again has poorly written, most likely incorrect information on a player.

I agree. There's no way he was held out because of a turkey day game. If it was a minor ankle tweak he would have been back in the game. But I have to believe if it were broken we would have heard something by now.

Packers | Rodgers OUT for season

Mon, 20 Nov 2006 10:29:15 -0800

ESPNews reports Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (foot) will miss the remainder of the season due to a foot injury.

I dont understand what is going on with Kevin Jones. The game is approaching, and yet there is no known information about the severity of the injury he suffered against the Cardinals in the first quarter. What is a fantasy manager supposed to do??????????????????????????

FWIW I expect we'll know more this evening and tomorrow late afternoon.

whoa. talk about a major impact to that team.Favre is banged up and even if they wanted to they can't give rodgers any game time the rest of the season to prepare themselves for a favre-less 2007.
