Week 13 2024 who should I start thread **OFFICIALLY UNOFFICIAL** (1 Viewer)

Chaka

Footballguy
This is where we ask questions and offer help.

Thank you to all the posters who come here to offer that help.

A couple notes:

I attempt to give well considered responses to all questions posted. I can't get to everything, but I'll try.

1) This only works if people participate. If you ask for help it is good form to offer help to someone else.

2) Please post the matchup. e.g. Cousins vs Den or James Cook @ Mia

3) Please post important league scoring considerations (e.g. PPR, super-flex etc).

4) Please go easy on the nicknames, save that for other threads. We can't help if we don't know who you are talking about.

View this as an exercise to help focus your thoughts about teams in general. Players you own may not be involved in these WDIS questions but certainly you will own players on many of these teams. Analyzing other players will help you identify things you may have otherwise not considered.

(Joe Edit: When you ask, please let us know which way you're leaning. And more importantly, why. What do you see as the pros and cons. Most people will be much more likely to help if they feel like you've put in a little work on this as well.)

Let's move on to week 13

Also, let's try to remember this is a crowdsourcing thread. I make every effort to answer every single post but I can't always make that happen. So, if you are here asking for help it would be great if you also offered help to others in here.

TIA

I need one flex player in a PPR:

Jonathan Taylor @ NEP (#18 v RBs)
Chase Brown v PIT (#14 v RBs)
Terry McLaurin v Ten (#6 v WRs)
Malik Nabers @ Dal (#18)
DeAndre Hopkins v LVR (#9)
Courtland Sutton v Cle (#27)

At this point, how do I not go with Courtland Sutton?

I am really torn this week in a big matchup: I have a bunch of talented guys-- some not in great situations & I need to sit 1 of them. I really feel like it could go one of about 6 ways

Need 2 RB/3WR/1flex

Achane @ GB
Mccaffrey @ BUF
B Irving @ Car
J Jefferson vs AZ
CD Lamb vs NYG
M Nabors @ DAL
G Wilson vs SEA

Pre-season/early season Data would say Bucky is the sit---> but he is making plays where a bunch of the others, although super highly viewed-- have been insanely inconsistent due to bad qb play, crappy teams, whatever.....

Would love your help

As always ... thanks for running the thread.

Win and I am in the playoffs ...

STANDARD SCORING ... Pick 2 (Barkley and Collins a lock in the lineup)

ARSB vs Chi (Questionable with knee ATM)
JJacobs vs Miami
CMC @ Buffalo

How do you need 1 flex out of that group?? I honestly don't even know where to start--- Definetly not Hopkins I suppose. I feel like Nabers is going to eat but hes hard to trust. Probably one of brown or sutton.

Can't sit Jacobs-- If ASB plays, I'd sit Mccaff-- but I wouldn't blame you for sitting ASB.

No way Mcaff goes 4 games in a row without a TD right??

Buffalo is a run funnel defense but, it's hard to get excited about any Niners ATM. Maybe if Purdy comes back...

I think I like Jacobs here simply because he's your volume play. He had a heavy workload, and it's a short week but ARSB had a short week, a knee injury and a tough matchup so...

Yeah, I think I go with Jacobs.

PPR?

I can't believe I am saying this but I think I bench McCaffrey and Nabers.

Jefferson has been a disappointment relative to draft position but I still like him more on a contending team than, say, CMC on a team that may be out of the hunt. Particularly if Trent Williams is out and Purdy. Fortunately you can make that decision on Sunday.

Nabers may have a bounce back game after complaining about lack of targets but, it's hard to be excited about him when it looks like the Giants have quit.

I don't bench CeeDee in PPR. Rush isn't very good but he can pepper CeeDee with a dozen 6 yard targets and quietly stack points.

Irving has 34 touches over the last two games and a strong matchup. He's a risk but, I think most realize he is a much better runner than White and he can catch a little bit too.

10 team league.

0.5 PPR:

WR2 slot:
  • DeVonta Smith vs. Ravens (If healthy)
  • Meyers vs. Chiefs
  • Cooper vs. 49ers
And at flex:
  • Any of the other two listed above
  • Hubbard vs. Bucs
  • Pacheco vs. Raiders (If activated)

I absolutely hate my WR2. 0.5PPR, do I start:
  • Adams vs. Seahawks Sunday afternoon
  • Reed vs. Dolphins Thursday night
I think we have to pump the brakes on the Jayden Reed experience. He's just far too inconsistent and hasn't had a a good game since week 4. It's tough to miss out on a Reed monster game but at least with Davante you can reasonably expect nine targets.

I think it's time to get Meyers into most starting lineups. Even if healthy DeVonta is a hit or miss prospect, same for Coop. Meyers will quietly get 10+ targets and give you a workmanlike performance with a shot at a TD.

I would go with Hubbard as my flex. It's a good matchup and he's getting tons of volume.

Ugghh I have the same pair. Two very flawed choices. I honestly think I might go with Schoonmaker or Ferguson. I don't feel great about either

I feel the same way against CMC ... ARSB was my initial gut reaction of the guy to sit as I think they run all over the Bears.

Cowboys are a pass first, pass second & pass third team so I probably lean Ferguson/Schoonmaker.

Maybe if Trevor Lawrence is back I would consider Engram but not before then.

Sorry, probably CMC just because of short week and injury status for ARSB.

Nabers. That Giants team looks like it's ready for the offseason.

pick tree
  • Harrison at MIN
  • Reed v MIA
  • Jennings at BUF
  • Dell at JAC
  • Warren at CIN
I definitely start Warren and probably Harrison because he seems to have the best combo of QB/Opportunity. After that it really depends on if Purdy plays or not. If so, definitely Jauann if not... I think it's probably worth waiting to see and playing Dell if Purdy is out.

I like Reed for the homerun element and if you want to chase that, I totally get it. If you do that I probably stick with Harrison & Warren even if Purdy plays, that Buffalo Defense is strong against the pass and I think they are on a roll.

IMO it is between Brown and Sutton. Brown is a PPR monster and Sutton and Nix are just clicking. I would take either but lean Sutton.

STANDARD SCORING ... Pick 2 (Barkley and Collins a lock in the lineup)

ARSB vs Chi (Questionable with knee ATM)
JJacobs vs Miami
CMC @ Buffalo

Jacobs and ARSB. DET doesn't care if its 28-0 they still score and throw it imo. CMC is still getting legs under him and if no Purdy, or even a semi healthy Purdy, the 49ers can't move the ball.

Need a QB:

Tua @ GB
Darnold v Ari

I absolutely hate my WR2. 0.5PPR, do I start:

NY is suprisingly stingy against TEs. If TLaw plays Engram but if not then the Cowboy that plays.

MHJ Reed and Warren

Full PPR

RBs are currently Hall and Monty (said he will play and could have gone back in last game but they were cautious because of short week)
WRs are London and Lamb

Need a Flex
Pacheco vs LV (people say he is back this week, do I roll the dice or wait?)
Hunt vs LV (only if Pacheco is still out)
MHJ @ MIN
Smith (if he is healthy) @ BAL

I guess, if he's healthy I go with Pacheco. If Pacheco is out I probably go with Hunt. Devonta is volatile even in a great matchup and MHJ, also with a great matchup, has a very low target floor.

PPR league. Redraft. Need to bench one of these guys...maybe one of my harder decisions of the year.

* J. Conner @MN -- One of the hardest matchups for RBs. The AZ offense and Conner didn't inspire much confidence last week against SEA. Only backs doing damage against MN this year are Kyren Williams (23-97), J. Gibbs (15-116-2), and J. Mason (20-100-1). Conner could be involved in the passing game though.

* T. Tracy @DAL -- Devito is banged up but could still play. Lock may actually be an upgrade. Another fumble. Not good. Could mean more Singletary mixed in. Dallas is getting healthier on D. Could prove spunky at home after a big win too.

* B. Thomas vs HOU -- This may hinge on if T. Lawrence starts. HOU D is surprisingly getting passed on. If he and Lawrence are healthy, he'd be tough to sit.

Note: I'm a large favorite.

Thanks!

You aren't benching Connor. If T Law starts then bench Tracy. I still might play Thomas over Tracy even if its Mac at QB as I want no part of the NY offense outside Nabers.

Yeah I think it comes down to Thomas vs. Tracy. If Lawrence is starting and Devito is as well, then this is a slam dunk decision. Will get sketchy Turkey Day morning if Lawrence hasn't practiced AND Luck is declared the starter.

Mooney if he is healthy, just don't trust SF with a semi injured Purdy. If Purdy does indeed play it becomes closer but still lean Mooney.

The state of the Giants has me concerned but, without positive confirmation on Lawrence I would lean towards benching Thomas.

Bucky Irving @ Carolina

Deandre Hopkins vs LV

I think either QB is a fine choice. I think I lean Nix at home.

I probably bench Tracy because the Giants worry me ATM. But you could make an argument to bench any of them.

I start Mooney until I know if Purdy is playing or not.

I think the Otton experiment needs to be put on hold.

If Purdy plays I start Deebo and Mooney. If Purdy is out I start Tracy & Mooney but, you have to make that decision before you know about Purdy for sure so it's all about your risk aversion.

I play Davante over Deandre simply because I think Davante has a more stable target floor.

Standard scoring non-ppr league. I need a flex:

Hunt vs LV - Pacheco may be back although I think they slowly work him in.
or
Stevenson vs Ind - Has been a disappointment lately but still getting the bulk of the carries on a losing team.

As always, thanks in advance for the advice.

I mean, ultimately it depends on Pacheco. He plays, go with Rhamondre. He doesn't, probably Hunt.

D question.

* WASH D vs TN -- Not impressed with their performance against Dallas. However, they face TN now at home. Levis playing better but was sacked 8 times last week.

* Dallas vs NYG -- Dallas getting sneaky healthier on D and face Devito and the NYGs sinking ship. Lock could play, not sure that would make much of a difference.

* BUF vs SF -- Buffalo the best real D of the bunch and probably fantasy wise as well. If Purdy out, no brainer, but need to make a decision by Thursday if Dallas is the choice. Also, it looks like nasty weather is being predicted in Buffalo.

Which?

Thanks
