Week 13 2024 who should I start thread **OFFICIALLY UNOFFICIAL** (1 Viewer)

A thought on these.

I find that if you add more detail on what you're thinking and why you're leaning a certain way, you'll often get more feedback. People want to feel like the person asking has put some thought into it already.

Or I'll often ask, "Make a case for both sides" or "Make a case against both sides". Lots of times, that's where some good discussion or insight can happen.

D question.

* WASH D vs TN -- Not impressed with their performance against Dallas. However, they face TN now at home. Levis playing better but was sacked 8 times last week.

* Dallas vs NYG -- Dallas getting sneaky healthier on D and face Devito and the NYGs sinking ship. Lock could play, not sure that would make much of a difference.

* BUF vs SF -- Buffalo the best real D of the bunch and probably fantasy wise as well. If Purdy out, no brainer, but need to make a decision by Thursday if Dallas is the choice. Also, it looks like nasty weather is being predicted in Buffalo.

Which?

Thanks
Generally speaking, I lean towards the best real world defense. I think more important than the status of Brock Purdy is the status of Trent Williams. So I would check every new source I could today and early tomorrow to see what information there is on their status. If either of them looks like they're going to miss the game, I would definitely start Buffalo.

Ultimately, just because of the nature of defenses, I would probably start Buffalo regardless. They really look like a team on a mission and the Niners sort of look like they're lost at sea. And with a defense you just never know. So why not play the best talent?

Goff vs Chi
Caleb @ Det
Murray @ Minny

thanks
I'd probably go with Murray here. It's just the best matchup and you don't have any concerns about short weeks or any of that. Plus with his mobility he's just a potential number one overall fantasy player in any given week. With that kind of upside and that matchup I start Murray.

Tua vs GB or Darnold vs Arizona, leaning Darnold.
I have the same decision in the football guys home league. For what it's worth, I have Tua in my lineup at the moment. The Dolphins look like they're ready to make a run and tua has pretty much been on fire and getting better every week since he returned. But there really isn't a wrong answer here. If you're not feeling Tua then absolutely go with Darnold.

Hmmmm. Surprised.

I wonder if Milano is back as well.

SF does look clunky. And I’d think even if Purdy plays he way not be 100%. Add in the weather factor too.

Would provide some roster flexibility as well since I can dump DAL D.

Thanks!

It seems like this thread should maybe be pinned and take the place of Assistant Coach forum. That's functionally what it is each week. What do y'all think?
I like that it is confined to a single topic that's easy to find. Pinning it would be cool but honestly I look at it as Chaka's thing and I just check in from time to time. It's up to him what he wants to do with it

Cousins at home against the Chargers
G.Smith on the road against the Jets

I'm leaning Cousins (at home in dome) but all the rankings I've seen are on Smith...

Andrews vs phi
Or
Jonnu smith @ gb

Pick 1 wr
Jameson williams vs chi
Devonta smith @ bal
Cooper vs sf
Hopkins vs lv

Tampa def @ car
Or
Minnesota def vs arz
Jonnu has been on a two game year but I'm worried it's a mirage. Andrews otoh has quietly been putting up solid numbers for two months now. Lower volume but high TD probability. I lean Andrews despite the matchup.

Part two depends on what you're looking for. Jameson is the upside play IMO. Amari has that potential too but something has been off since he got to Buffalo. Hopkins is a decent floor play with a good matchup. I feel like Devonta is the middle ground of opportunities, upside & matchup so that's where I lean.

I've been riding the Minnesota defense for a couple months and have been happy with the results. So if stick with them.

I am really torn this week in a big matchup: I have a bunch of talented guys-- some not in great situations & I need to sit 1 of them. I really feel like it could go one of about 6 ways

Need 2 RB/3WR/1flex

Achane @ GB
Mccaffrey @ BUF
B Irving @ Car
J Jefferson vs AZ
CD Lamb vs NYG
M Nabors @ DAL
G Wilson vs SEA

Pre-season/early season Data would say Bucky is the sit---> but he is making plays where a bunch of the others, although super highly viewed-- have been insanely inconsistent due to bad qb play, crappy teams, whatever.....

Would love your help
It's between Bucky and Nabors to bench. I'd bench Nabors.

Up to you, my friend. I'm not honestly sure how many discreet posters we get every week. Could be a lot, could be 6-7 guys who come back every week. If you think it warrants a pin, I'm all for it.

I need one flex player in a PPR:

Jonathan Taylor @ NEP (#18 v RBs)
Chase Brown v PIT (#14 v RBs)
Terry McLaurin v Ten (#6 v WRs)
Malik Nabers @ Dal (#18)
DeAndre Hopkins v LVR (#9)
Courtland Sutton v Cle (#27)

At this point, how do I not go with Courtland Sutton?
Damn

Deep team. Gotta be Chase Brown though. This seems like a no brainer as funny as that sounds.

PPR league. Redraft. Need to bench one of these guys...maybe one of my harder decisions of the year.

* J. Conner @MN -- One of the hardest matchups for RBs. The AZ offense and Conner didn't inspire much confidence last week against SEA. Only backs doing damage against MN this year are Kyren Williams (23-97), J. Gibbs (15-116-2), and J. Mason (20-100-1). Conner could be involved in the passing game though.

* T. Tracy @DAL -- Devito is banged up but could still play. Lock may actually be an upgrade. Another fumble. Not good. Could mean more Singletary mixed in. Dallas is getting healthier on D. Could prove spunky at home after a big win too.

* B. Thomas vs HOU -- This may hinge on if T. Lawrence starts. HOU D is surprisingly getting passed on. If he and Lawrence are healthy, he'd be tough to sit.

Note: I'm a large favorite.

Thanks!
Id bench Tracy. Dallas defense is getting healthier. Giants are an absolute mess and Tracy has fumbling issues.

Big, tough call. Playoff life at risk! 1/2 PPR

Pick 2:
CMC @ Buffalo
Joe Mixon @ Jax
Bucky Irving @ Carolina

If Purdy doesn't play I may bench CMC

Pick 1:
Davante Adams vs Seattle
Deandre Hopkins vs LV
Theres just no way I could bench CMC for Bucky unless Purdy is out. For WR definitely Adams

Goff vs Chi
Caleb @ Det
Murray @ Minny

thanks
Yeesh. Goff (feel like they will run a ton), Caleb (hes WAY too hit or miss, could have 8, could have 30), Murray (I feel like he alternates good games vs bad games). I would lean Murray based on his rushing upside.

Andrews vs phi
Or
Jonnu smith @ gb

Pick 1 wr
Jameson williams vs chi
Devonta smith @ bal
Cooper vs sf
Hopkins vs lv

Tampa def @ car
Or
Minnesota def vs arz
Jonnu has been on fire. Gotta be him vs Andrews who disappears quite often

WR- If Smith is healthy Id roll the dice as they should have to pass a lot. Otherwise Hopkins

Def- give me Arizona. Carolina looks fiesty last few weeks.

RB start 2: McCaffrey (at Buf), Irving (at Car), Kamara (vs LAR), G.Edwards (@Atl)
WR start 3: Smith-Njigba (at NYJ), London (vs LAC), Shakir (vs SF), Jeudy (at Den), J.Williams (vs Chi)
TE start 1: McBride (@Min), T.Hill (vs LAR)
Flex start 1: Any of the above

I find that the answers here from Chaka (and others who respond) are more beneficial from randoms on the AC forum. Personally, I haven't posted one item on the AC forum this year. The people on this thread are the real sharks and I like the advice given. As others have said, up to you on how you want to handle.

I think I bench CMC unless Purdy is back... actually Trent Williams status is even more important IMO.

I play Davante over Deandre simply because I think Davante has a more stable target floor

Good point I had forgotten about Trent being out last week too.

If Prudy is out I am sitting CMC. You're welcome fellow owners!!

Problem in is it's the night game and SF won't tell us until like 20 mins before the game.

Full PPR. Start 2 RB, 3 WR/TE, 1 Flex
WR and TE are the same position - we don't distinguish

RB Jonathan Taylor at Patriots (Pats 21 vs RB)
RB Chase Brown vs Steelers (Steelers 12 vs RB)
RB Bucky Irving at Panthers (Panthers 32 vs RB)
RB James Conner at Vikings (Vikings 3 vs RB)
WR/TE Ja/Marr Chase vs Steelers (Steelers 6 vs WR)
WR/TE Cooper Kupp at Saints (Saints 29 vs WR)
WR/TE Terry McLaurin vs Titans (Titans 3 vs WR)
WR/TE TJ Hockenson vs Cardinals (Cardinals 7 vs TE)

Cool. Let's make this a pinned thread each week and we'll point everyone here with start - sit.

The Assistant coach never got much traction as you have to leave here and click over. I get it.

Thank you @Chaka for organizing. And answering. And I'd invite lots of others to give answers too. This can be a good group thing. There are a ton of super smart football people here.

Please tag me each week and remind me to pin it when it you post the first one.

I need one flex player in a PPR:

Jonathan Taylor @ NEP (#18 v RBs)
Chase Brown v PIT (#14 v RBs)
Terry McLaurin v Ten (#6 v WRs)
Malik Nabers @ Dal (#18)
DeAndre Hopkins v LVR (#9)
Courtland Sutton v Cle (#27)

At this point, how do I not go with Sutton?
Sutton looks good but Nabors playing with Lock and being the squeaky wheel all week makes me think he will get fed.

Sutton but just barely

Full PPR;

DJ Moore @ Det
vs
Garrett Wilson vs Sea

*Bonus Round*

David Njoku @ Den
vs
Hunter Henry vs Ind , Sam LaPorta vs Chi , Zach Ertz vs Ten (LaPorta on bench, others on wire)

Cousins at home against the Chargers
G.Smith on the road against the Jets

I'm leaning Cousins (at home in dome) but all the rankings I've seen are on Smith...
Cousins has eight TD passes in two games vs the Bucs. He has nine TD passes in nine games against everyone else. Maybe something finally clicks but, unless there is heavy wind forecast for New Jersey I'm going with the consensus here. Geno hasn't been prolific either but he throws a lot more often.

Geno>Cousins

RB start 2: McCaffrey (at Buf), Irving (at Car), Kamara (vs LAR), G.Edwards (@Atl)
WR start 3: Smith-Njigba (at NYJ), London (vs LAC), Shakir (vs SF), Jeudy (at Den), J.Williams (vs Chi)
TE start 1: McBride (@Min), T.Hill (vs LAR)
Flex start 1: Any of the above
Is Dobbins out?

A lot depends on the status of Purdy, Trent Williams and Dobbins. So, right now, with the uncertainty we have I would start Irving & Kamara.

London is a must start for you IMO. JSN & Jeudy have tough matchups but are your best players so you should probably start them. Shakir is the backup option if you simply hate the matchup for Jeudy or JSN.

McBride all day, every day. Taysom has been a lot more consistent this year and has massive upside but McBride is straight up elite.

Flex depends on a lot of things as detailed above. It also depends on what you really need. IMO Taysom is probably the best bet but, again it depends mostly on what is going on with SF.

0.5 PPR

Need one:
Smith-Njigba @ the Jets or
Brian Thomas Jr vs Houston

Which TE?
Kraft vs Dolphins or
Gray vs LV
I'll take JSN. If Lawrence starts maybe I consider pivoting but, probably not JSN is having a breakout year on a high volume passing offense.

I probably chase the points with Gray but, both guys are low floor options.

Love vs Mia
Goff vs Chi

.5ppr Flex
Evans @ Car
Achane @ GB
London v LAC
BTJ v Ari

Need 2
Love. The matchup is just better for a lot of reasons.

Achane feels like an auto start IMO and, personally I'm sticking with Evans. Better matchup on a high volume offense. But I understand if London feels like a better option.

BTJ doesn't interest me in this scenario.

WR/TE Ja/Marr Chase vs Steelers (Steelers 6 vs WR)
WR/TE Cooper Kupp at Saints (Saints 29 vs WR)
WR/TE Terry McLaurin vs Titans (Titans 3 vs WR)
WR/TE TJ Hockenson vs Cardinals (Cardinals 7 vs TE)
WR/TE Rome Odunze at Lions (Lions 27 vs WR)
Okay meister, are you really asking if benching Ja'marr is an option? Kupp? Nah, those guys are smash starts.

At RB I honestly think I go with Chase Brown &... am I really going to say Bucky Irving? I'm very tempted but, push/shove I would probably chicken out and go with Taylor. Even if I think Irving is probably the better call at this point.

For WR3 I'm ride-or-die with McLaurin at this point. I wish he got more volume but even with what he gets he's had one down week since week 3.

At flex, I go with whichever RB you didn't choose above. Yes, I leave Conner on the bench for Irving...(And yes, I could chicken out on that too).

Sutton is on fire, I would start him. Could make a case for Nabors also.
