Week 14 2025 who should I start thread **OFFICIALLY UNOFFICIAL** (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
This is where we ask questions and offer help.

Thank you to all the posters who come here to offer that help.

A couple notes:

I attempt to give well considered responses to all questions posted. I can't get to everything, but I'll try.

1) This only works if people participate. If you ask for help it is good form to offer help to someone else.

2) Please post the matchup. e.g. Penix vs Den or James Cook @ Mia (a lot of you are missing this one. We don't necessarily have all the matchups memorized, please don't make us do your legwork. TIA)

3) Please post important league scoring considerations (e.g. PPR, super-flex etc).

4) Please go easy on the nicknames, save that for other threads. We can't help if we don't know who you are talking about.

5) NEW REQUEST: Please remember that if you come here asking advice, it is greatly appreciated if you offer advice to others. TIA

View this as an exercise to help focus your thoughts about teams in general. Players you own may not be involved in these WDIS questions but certainly you will own players on many of these teams. Analyzing other players will help you identify things you may have otherwise not considered.

(Joe Edit: When you ask, please let us know which way you're leaning. And more importantly, why. What do you see as the pros and cons. Most people will be much more likely to help if they feel like you've put in a little work on this as well.)

Let's move on to week 14

@Joe Bryant @FBG Moderator

Can we get this pinned please?

PPR: With CMC, Rico and TreVeyon on the bye I am left with ETN & Chris Rodriguez as my only RBs.

The problem is with our roster requirements I can't fill a full starting lineup this week.

I need to drop a WR to pick up... either a RB, Defense or Kicker and I must start that player.

Which WR would you drop?

Zay v PIT
BTJ v IND

I do need a walk off grand slam type performance this week but, I am still leaning dropping BTJ. He played 75% of the snaps last week but, he is clearly behind Jakobi ATM. He only saw 3 targets but, that game was never close, this week could be closer.

Zay plays every down, it's a strong matchup and, he was very close to a nice game last week but, he doesn't have the kind of upside BTJ does (on paper).

Same PPR league. Who do I pick up to start this week after I drop a WR?

Zonovan v LAR
Perine @ BUF
GBP D v CHI
WAS D @ MIN
CIN PK @ BUF
JAX PK v IND
DEN PK @ LVR

I'm leaning the GB Defense. I really need a home run and, this feels like a statement game for them. If Minnesota starts Brosmer again WAS D is certainly viable.

It's a buncha random number generators really. Any insight is appreciated.

0.5 PPR - 6pts all TD's

Pick 1 QB:
Bo Nix at Raiders
Sam Darnold at Falcons
Trever Lawrence vs Colts (on waivers)

Pick 1 Flex:
Courtland Sutton at Raiders
Jordan Mason vs Washington
Kyle Monangai at Packers
Darren Waller at Jets

I think your thinking in the right direction
BTJ would be my drop given the choices

League 2 PPR:

Caleb @ GB
Darnold @ ATL

Leaning Darnold. Caleb is mobile but he's a game manager. Darnold is in a slump, for sure and, ATL is a run funnel defense.

TE:
Pitts v SEA
Schultz @ KC

Leaning Schultz but, I guess it depends on London's status.

I would drop BTJ over Zay only because like you said Zay is on the field and he gets targets. 5+ targets in every game this year except 1.

As for who to pickup, I agree that GB is going to make a statement this week and I think Bears are set for a let down. Too many people are talking about them this week and they are the new #1 seed in NFC. I don't really like any of the other options.

Nix for me because it couldn't be a better matchup, he can still run and, has a reasonable floor.

Nix>Lawrence>Darnold
===============================

Sutton as well for the same reason.

I like Monangai but, man that's a tough matchup and, I think the Packers are going to try an make a statement.

Mason is a little more interesting if Jones is out but, that team is a mess ATM.

I'm rooting for Waller but, I can't see him in any lineup unless the building is already on fire.

Sutton>Monangai>Mason>Waller

Green Bay defense would be a decent choice
Washington's D is interesting if JJ isn't back, that could be a "home run"
Cinncy kicker will regress
Tough choice
If you hear Brosmer is starting again I might take a chance on The Commies Defense
Good luck

QB:
Stafford at Cards

Dak at Lions

Flex:
Javonte Williams at Lions

Nico Collins at Chiefs

Drop 1 for weeks 16 and 17 as I have week 15 bye locked up

Mike Evans
Terry McLaurin
Marvin Harrison
Michael Wilson

Thanks!

QB is close but I would go with Dak. Potential shootout. LAR could get up early and run the ball a lot in the 2nd half.
Flex - Javonte. KC D is tough at home.
Drop 1 - Do you need to start 3 of these here? I think McLaurin could be huge down the stretch, WAS playoff schedule is favorable except PHI in week 16. Evans could have a lot of competition for targets. Wilson has been great when Harrison is out. I would lean towards cutting one of the AZ WRs but I wouldn't fault you for cutting Evans.

Agree with Darnold. Huge game in Lambeau and I suspect a slugfest.

Agree with Schultz. Gets more targets than Pitts, and definitely if London returns.

Biggest game of the year for me and I have some decisions to make:

0.5 ppr

Choose one RB2:
ETN vs Indy
Monangai vs GB

Choose one flex:
Rb I didnt choose above
Pierce vs Jax
Odunze vs GB
Shakir vs Cin
Mitchell vs Mia

Good choices at QB. I anticipate a bounce back game for Stafford and McVay to try to get him that MVP.

Total coin toss but

Stafford>Dak
===================================

I lean Javonte here just because I think he will get his 20 touches and goal line looks. Nico is a good choice if it's PPR but, I don't really like the matchup and, I don't think Stroud is a good RZ/GL QB.

Javonte>Nico
=====================================

If things go well for you, I don't anticipate you having to start either Cardinal WR. I also think Wilson will cede more snaps to MHJ as he gets healthier. McLaurin came out strong and, I like to think Evans will do the same.

McLaurin>Evans>Harrison>Wilson

Man... ETN is still the clear lead back in Jacksonville, Monangai is a 50-50 timeshare at best (realistically). I think that game is going to be fascinating but, my feeling is the Packers are going to seize control of the division.

It's super close and, I could easily flip flop multiple times this week

ETN>Monangai
===========================================

I can't trust any BUF WR but, I guess I can see the matchup as being worth the dart throw. I think Pierce has the best opportunity here. Jax is a pass funnel defense and the IND OL is good enough to give Jones enough time to find him. Don't think we can trust Caleb to sustain WRs in general.

Pierce>Shakir>Odunze

GB D v CHI
LAR D @ ARI

Leaning GB but, they're both good options.

Flex PPR:
GB D v CHI
LAR D @ ARI.
Zay v PIT
T.Franklin @ LVR

Struggling with this. I need a big time home run. I am leaning towards benching Franklin. I hate to bench anyone against the Raiders but, Franklin came down to earth last week and, Evan Engram came to life. Is that the new normal?

Monangai could have 15 touches, maybe a few more if things go well for the Bears. The question is if we think things will go well for the Bears. I know they upset Phili last week and, maybe they are legit. The OL clearly has found their groove and is easily one of the better interior OLs in the league which, suits Monangai's game. But, I still have trouble believing in this Bears offense entirely (mind you I am starting Swift & Monangai in League Uno but, that's out of necessity. My other option would be Pitts).

I lean Pierce, but I don't think going with Monangai is entirely crazy.

Here’s my gloomy QB situation:
Lamar vs Pit
Hebert vs Phi
Shough @ TB
I could drop Shough for Lance to wait for word on Hebert but I’m not confident in SD oline vs Phi either. I think I still have to start Lamar and pray. Shough has decent matchups as my emergency qb. Is now the emergency? I need this win. Strong team vs good opponent who is suddenly healthy.

Can't do Lance.

If you think "holding serve" at QB is enough then, I can make an argument for Shough.

If you think you need big output and, are willing to assume the risk, then it's Lamar. Yeah, he's been off but, he was two bad plays from a nice game last week. Everyone is talking about how the Steelers got run all over last week but, they have been objectively terrible against the pass all season.

I don't love the Chargers this week with their offensive line and, Herbert looked really bad after hurting his hand. Coming off surgery with a healing wound doesn't inspire confidence. Obviously you count downgrade him too much but, there is cause for concern.

For me

Lamar>Herbert>Shough

Zay seems to get targets and may have a higher floor. J Meyers is getting a bigger role as is Strange in the Jax offense.

Lawrence has a better chance of passing in the 4Q over Nix. This just doesn't feel like a Darnold week.

Sutton has the most upside.

I hate Lamar this week, but I couldnt play Shough in a division road game (he hasn't been bad). I wouldnt touch Lance.

Gun to head I'd stick with Zay. Have more faith that the BALT O finds itself vs. BTJ and Lawrence becoming a thing again.

Think I'd lean GB too.

Ben Johnson is basically "hiding" Caleb right now. I'm not sure CHI will be able to run like they did last week. Could force Caleb into some bad throws.

Could also see Lutz having a field day.

Standard scoring non-ppr league. I somehow secured the top seed and a 1st round bye even though I seem to pick the wrong player each week. Let's try it again.

Pick two of these players to start:

Etienne vs Ind - Had a great matchup last week and did nothing with it; Tuten got GL as well
Chase Brown vs Buf - Has been hot and I don't see how I leave him out of the lineup; especially against the Bills
Warren vs Bal - Had a TD last week which salvaged his day; This is another good opportunity by that offense is embarrasing
Vidal vs Phi - Likely splitting time with Hampton; Even if Hampton is out, it's not a great matchup

Start 1 of these players, also a non-ppr:

Tee Higgins vs Buf - Assuming he plays, it's hard to leave him out
Olave vs TB - A TD salvaged his day last week
Deebo vs MIN - Went back to a secondary role with Terry back in the lineup
Johnston vs PHI - Only two receptions but did catch a TD; if Herbert is out, he won't even be considered here

Thoughts?
