Week 14 - Venting Thread (1 Viewer)

To make the playoffs, I needed to win and the guy I'm tied with to lose. I did my part.

My rival's opponent, who has a playoff spot locked already, starts Chester Taylor and Joe Horn. My rival had Deuce left last night and about five points to make up... According to Fanball's (unreliable) live scoring, I am out of the playoffs by .1 point, thanks to this boob starting two inactive players.

This is the sort of thing that caused my decision a few weeks back to leave this league after this season.

Oh, and :ptts:

eta: the boob in question last changed his lineup on 11/19, which would explain Taylor and Horn. I officially hate fantasy football.

F U MARIAN BARBER... Benched J.Lewis and KJ over u11.2 points on top and my opponent has Holt... PRAYING
I'm cussing out Barber too (or maybe I should say Barber III). His big fat zero helped end my season and keeps me out of the playoffs. That and the fact that my opponent had Maurice Jones-Drew. :wall:

I start 3 of the top 11 scoring RB's in my league, but they managed to only outscore Reggie Bush by 3 points combined (LJ/West/Addai). Throw in Romo doing nothing and I find myself down 15 going into MNF.

All 6 years of my league I have had at least 8 wins and a high playoff seed, but I can't catch a break in the postseason. A 52-25-1 regular season record over the past 6 seasons, but 2-5 in the playoffs.

I am tired of being the most dominant regular season team year after year only to be busted on by friends for collapsing in the playoffs.

I need Big Game to have one tonight or else it will be another long offseason.

Cruised in as a #2 seed, played team with Gore and MJD!!!! He toyed with me all week, had Droughns starting before Thur., then switched to Edge. 10 min before kickoff, he switches to MJD on a "hunch". Oh well, need 20 pts from Big Game tonight for the upset and the $$$.

Also sat Bush :wall:

At least there's no one to blame but myself. First year in FF, only gets better I guess.

I was up against the Tomlinson owner, and he had just tied my league consecutive wins record the previous week. So I had a chance to make sure he didn't break it. On Thursday, FWP got me out to a 37-point lead. I was feeling much better about my chances at that point. I had Jerius Norwood in my lineup, waiting to hear about McGahee's status before I switched him out. But McGahee was a dreaded GTD for the afternoon game, so I played it safe and rolled with Norwood. Damn.

But after the morning games, I still had a slight lead. I essentially had two IDPs, Javon Walker, Anquan Boldin, Vernon Davis and Martin Gramatica against Tomlinson and two IDPs. My IDPs, Gerald Hayes and Adrian Wilson, combined for seven lousy points. Javon Walker disappeared again with Cutler at the helm. Anquan didn't do much either.

I was slightly behind going down to the wire when Vernon Davis caught a long TD pass to put me up by about six. I thought that gave me the cushion I needed, as the Denver-SD game was winding down and Tomlinson had been kept under control. The came TD #2 for LTII. I was suddenly down by a few points. Then Cutler gives Tomlinson a late-game gift deep in Denver territory and next thing you know I'm down about ten. I lose the game after leading pretty much the entire day.

 Cutler, you *******!

Let me vent against Willis Mcgahee first. I took him first, 12th overall, in a league I ended up paying about $3,279 to be in. I benched him 3 weeks ago when he first came back from his injury because I was unsure what kind of load he could carry and he went on to have his best game year to date. So I put him back in my lineup last week and he sucked. So I benched him again this week mainly due again to injury concerns and he went on to have his best game of the year. So in a major league my first round pick proceeds to have his best two fantasy games of the year the 2 weeks I benched him. :wall:

BTW-In this same league I usually flip flopped between Kennison and Mark Clayton all year for my third WR spot and the two big games Kennision had were on my bench and the 2 of the 3 big games Clayton had were on my bench as I made the wrong call between these two all year.

One word: Fason

Perfect timing for Chester to miss his only game of the season. So much hype for Fason. Didn't hear jack about Pinner all week. sucky sucky sucky.

Up by 44 points with opponent only having Brees left. QB record for points last 2 seasons was 39 points by Donovan McNabb. Brees puts up 44 and now I need Bulger to score more than 17 for tiebreaker (he had Leinart as his tiebreaker). Doesn't look good for my team.....Most points in the league, got the 6th seed, and could be out. Ouch!!!!

had going...

Vick

KJ, LJ

S Smith, CJ, Wayne

Winslow

lost!!!

1 total TD from this entire group. (KJ)

beat that....

I rolled the dice and put in Pennington over Rivers, ended up losing by 12 and Rivers would've gotten me 16 more points.

I'm such an idiot.

Need 4th place team to lose and I need a win to make playoffs. Loss happens as expected and I post 3rd highest score of SEASON - only to see my opponent this week post new 3rd highest score of season on T Jones TD run - just before he's pulled for the night? !?!@#$^%

Well, the season for my main league has come to an end. 6 extra points by Gould did me in...2 kickoff returns? Are you kidding me - lol

This was not my season anyway. My team made the playoffs despite my stupid coaching choices.

1. Felt the pressure and traded CJ for Steve Smith. The week before CJ started to go crazy. This didn't cause me any losses, until this week. Only a 4 point difference, but it was enough to knock me out this week

2. McNabb going down. Yeah, that put me into the QB dilema. Of course he went down the week after I traded Roethlisberger (also in the CJ trade)

3. Thought it was Addai's time after his big week two weeks ago, and started him over Dunn the last 2 weeks. This also cost me the win this week....

Oh well, one league left.....

:wall:  :bag:

Thought I had no shot when TJ was doing nothing. Then he goes back to back for 60 something yards and a TD. Need 24 freakin' yards from him with almost a whole half to play - and he doesn't get one friggin' CARRY or snap the rest of the game. Unbelievable.

Holy ####. Lost by 5 yards. I didn't even expect to have a chance, that was just brutal. Good luck to everyone else.

Week 1 of our league playoffs....

My idiot kicker Shayne Graham misses an extra point on Sunday. I end up tying my game but lose on the tie-breaker. AAAUUUUUGGGGHHHHHH.

Lost by two when Thomas Jones got that TD (why wasn't that challenged?) on his last carry of the night.

But my real vent is at kicker. I had Elam and didn't want to risk a big fat zero with him questionable and Shanahan being infamous for not disclosing FACTUAL injury reports.

So I picked up a kicker with a really good offense who was playing a pretty good D, thinking they'd move the ball but settle for 2-3 FGs with an extra point or two........Gostkowski.

Elam's 8 pts would have gotten me the win.

Now the highest scoring team in the league (LT2 owner) is out in the first round (second time in 3 years I've done that). :kicksrock:

A season of WR frustration is over in my PPR league and I only have myself to blame.

I went into the season with Horn, Mason and Matt Jones as my top 3 wides.

For the season, I got 297 points out of my WRs.

For the season, I left 152 WR points on my bench. That's 10.85 points per game on my GD bench

It didn't cost me a game until the last 3 weeks of the season. During those last 3 weeks, it cost me the game each week.

The week 12 and 13 games I cost myself would have gotten me into a different playoff matchup this week that I would have won regardless of my WRs as my D/ST, RBs and QB beat the entire team I would have been matched up against.

:wall:

Started Indy's defense :wall: :wall:

Fortunately, I won anyway, and I advance to the next round of the consolation bracket.

I knew I'd find you here!! What a hearbreaker!! :lmao:

The guy I play next week has at RB: Kevin Jones (Injured) - Ronnie Brown (Injured) - Fred Tayor (Injured) Jerious Norwood (Injured) and is left with only Cedric Houston for the playoffs.

*I'm venting for him* - That had to be a frustrating week of football to watch.

Thanks, but the one good thing is I did not lose all that money. This league was introduced to WCOFF by a member who posts on here by the name of Captian Hook and this was the first year WCOFF held this league which of course is a seperate league from their main event. To summarize as best I can in this 12 team league we each paid $5k to join. $2k went towards the base entry fee. $1k went towards blind free agent bidding for the year which you could not exceed $1k but any unused portion will be returned to you after the season. The final $2k of the $5k went towards bidding for your draft position for the first two rounds and you could, as some teams did, actually go over the $5k and if you did so you just had to pay with a credit card and again any unused portion was returned to us. The way the bidding for draft position went is you bid on your spot in the first round and than immediately made your pick. The pick you bought in the first round set your draft order up in the third round and beyond with the usual serpentine order. So if you bought the first pick you also got to pick first in the third and of course last in the 4th. The bidding for the second round draft pick was just for that pick.

So, the $2k base price which totalled $24k made up the prize pool of $10k to first, $5k to second, $3k for third and $1500 with the remianing $5500 going to WCOFF(which I found to be quite fair). 100% of all FA spending and 100% of all draft spending went into a pool which was divided which is evenly divided out over 16 weeks with the weekly high score winner getting 1/16th of the pot which I tought would end up being around $1500 per weekly high point but due to soft FA spending ended up being around $1350 and again this is paid out to the high point team for each 16 weeks.

I needed to explain that to say I won high point one week so I got around $1350 of my $3,279 back so I did not lose it all. But what has me upset is my bad lineup decisions might not have only cost me a chance at the playoffs and the $10k but it did cost me high point this week so I pissed away $1350. I've still got two weeks left to try to win a week but I'll be without one of my best players, Kevin Jones.

I would like to say the league concept as introduced by Captian Hook was a pretty cool concept so I'm not unhappy I joined the league just unhappy with my starting lineup decisionss.

HOW MUCH OF FF IS LUCK?

Here's the answer:

Guess which team did not make the playoffs:

My team is by far the best in this league, I just had ####ty luck. It happens.

TOTAL POINTS:

Me: 1004

Team A: 964

Team B: 913

Team C: 869

Team D: 868

AVERAGE POINTS PER GAME:

Me: 71.7

Team A: 68.9

Team B: 65.2

Team C: 62

Team D: 62

I scored 10 more points per game than two playoff teams. Ridiculous.

Times lost when scoring over 60:

Me: 4

Team A: 2

Team C: 2

Team D: 2

Team B: 1

Times lost when scoring over 70:

Me: 2

Team D: 2

Team A: 1

Team C: 1

Team B: 0

Points scored against:

Team A: 921 (This includes playing against me in my highest scoring game)

Me: 919

Team D: 872

Team B: 859

Team C: 777 (ridiculous)

Games won when scoring under 60:

Me: 0

Team B: 0

Team D: 1

Team A: 1

Team C: 3

Games won when scoring under 70:

Me: 1

Team A: 1

Team C: 4

Team D: 5

Team B: 6 (again, ridiculous)

Games below 60 points:

Me: 3

Team B: 3

Team A: 4

Team D: 5

Team C: 7 (unreal)

Games below 70 points:

Me: 6

Team A: 6

Team C: 9

Team D: 9

Team B: 10

Games over 70:

Me: 8

Team A: 8

Team C: 5

Team D: 5

Team B: 4

Games over 80:

Me: 5

Team D: 4

Team A: 3

Team B: 3

Team C: 2

Games over 100:

Me: 3

Team B: 0

Team C: 0

Team D: 0

Team A: 0

And finally, the worst stat of them all.

What my record would be against all four playoff teams if we had played every week:

Team A: 7-7

Team B: 8-6

Team C: 9-5

Team D: 9-5

Unbelievable.

I think the honest answer is that it's like poker. Skill will win out over time, but on a hand by hand (or year by year) basis, luck can prevail.

This year was the equivalent of me holding two aces, going up against two kings, two jacks, two threes, and two twos, and getting beat by every single one of them after the cards have been played.
