The only home team pick I like is CHI. I was going to use NO on the road at DET but I'm not so sure now like you said.

I think I actually like CIN on the road at CLE. MIA looks good but I used them already. I can't trust DEN and I've also used them already. HOU isn't bad either.

I have to decide between Houston @ Oakland or Denver vs. Bills. While in a close call I am tempted to go with the home team Denver, I think Houston is playing much better and much more consistent ball. I'm leaning Houston. My only concern with Houston is a let down after the big Tennessee win. But Denver is so Jekyl and Hyde I don't think I can roll with them. Bills put up a fight today against the Jets.

If I had to pick now, I'd go Houston.

:football:

I've been planning on taking the Patriots at home against the Cardinals for quite some time now, but I have yet to see anyone agree with me (or talk me out of it). A good team, at home, fighting for the division and possibly playoffs vs. a West coast team travelling to the East coast, is already in the playoffs and looked yesterday as if that's good enough for them. What am I missing here? Any New England homers have a reason why I shouldn't pick them?

I am looking at this game also. Do you like it better if Cleveland loses tonight? I was thinking about taking Cleveland, but Cinci looked decent yesterday.

Why do u like cini here? I need to pick teams with losing records to improve my tie-breaker situtation. I took seattle this week and nearly soiled myself...

Yes my opinion completely hinges on how CLE looks tonight. If they fall flat as expected then I like it. If they show some spark, then I'll have to look elsewhere.I think CIN is finally learning how to play together after alot of injuries and changes to the team makeup, while CLE is falling apart. Both teams have had a brutal schedule though.

Larry Fitz, Anquan Boldin, and Steve Breaston vs. the Patriots secondary. NE should be able to score on ARI, but I have little faith that NE will be able to stop the ARI passing attack. I think NE holds on to a slim victory in a shootout, but this would not be my favorite game in a survivor for all the marbles. I think there are better options next week.

Miami on the road is crazy talk imo. I think you have to go Denver or Houston; ultimately Denver since I always try to take home teams.

Nice work on still being in the thing though; I'm in the loser's bracket with 1 hiccup...having nightmares about that stupid Redskins OLman fumbling vs. the Rams.

I'm leaning toward DEN myself but I'm feeling sick to my stomach already just thinking about the game. For you, I think PIT is the best bet. They are on a roll and TEN will be missing Haynesworth and Vandenbosch. And TEN can't complete a pass lately either.

I'm sick to my stomach as well...was hoping the Saints had a reason to play this week to help ease the pain. I am looking at Denver, but they have taken so many people out this year and their play has me worried. But they should try and win this thing at home and not go to SD for what would be a one game playoff in SD. Being from the Buffalo area I do not like picking for or against these clowns either. Makes probably too much sense!! Other options include the Jets (who have not won out west this year), Houston, and maybe the 49'ers....Saints homers, I would like to hear what they are saying down there, they have been off since Thursday..have they packed it in? Or do they not want to be "that team" that loses to the Lions?

Houston is my first option although my hunch was NO @ Det.

Houston analysis-

2-5 on the road, on a 4 game win streak with 2 wins on the road at clev and gb. They are playing well right now on offense. Oakland had lost the last 4 at home and none were really close (you could argue KC was close i guess).

NO analysis -

NO is 1-6 on the road which is a big concern (Their only road win was @ KC although technically their game at Wembley was a road game and in a dome and they won). They havent played a road game indoors yet and are 6-1 at home. So they travel to a dome, which from a fan support perspective, usually the crowd doesnt have a big impact on the game like it does in SEA, Pitt etc..

Denver Analysis -

Their last 7 games L - W - W - L - W - W - L ---- If you think into that, looks like they are do for a win. Spoiler alert on Buffalo - they played well against NYJ and Denver should rebound trying to lock up the division.

NE vs AZ - AZ looks like they lost it so I think NE is somewhat of a safe bet. West Coast teams travelling east this year havent fared all that well, plus the forecast is snow friday through sunday with sunday highs in the low 30s. I was going to go with NE but I looked ahead a few weeks ago and saw this as a scary game bc of the matchups so I used them against Sea (Sweated that one out). With AZ play as of late and the forecast, NE looks to be a good pick.

Thanks, Kyle. I think I'm set on going with the Pats this weekend, just need a little encouragement. I keep hearing about how awful the NE defense is due to injuries, but I think their offense is clicking enough to outscore the Cards anyway. Good luck!

Im going back and forth on Houston and NO... I feel one will lose and this will knock half of the 20 people left out (if not losses from other upsets - like Miami)

I've been going back and forth between Houston and Denver. In my earlier post I was leaning Houston. Someone please talk me off the ledge because I'm now leaning towards Denver. I think Houston is a better team than the Broncos and I also think the Raiders are a worst team than the Bills, but the fact that the Broncos are at home and are playing for a division crown makes me think that Denver will have much more to play for and will less likely lose. Houston is going for a winning record at 9-7, but they are on the road and out of the playoffs. I think Denver clearly knows that they can't go to SD and beat them so I'm hopeful that Denver will go balls to the wall this weekend and beat the Bills by all means possible.

I'm in the same boat. Rolling with HOU. I'm in the detroit area and most people will pick NO, so I'm bucking the trend and praying for an upset.

Buffalo News today is saying the Bills maybe going with the 3rd string QB (Gibran Hamdan) this week, rather they demoted J.P. to 3rd string now....depends on how Edwards practices this week. today, limited..., but the more I think about this, Detroit will play well, but can they keep up with Saints O? Unlikely, go Saints!!

Any last-second thoughts on some of these teams that have been tossed around? Question for some of you guys that have mentioned taking the Saints, Broncos, or Texans - if you had New England available, would you rather have them?

Beginning of the week I liked NE and Den. Now I'm not so sure. Weahter in NE is supposed to be terrible. And DEN may not have anything to play for if SD loses in TB earlier. HOU has been hot lately and should beat OAK but that pick worries me for some reason. NO @ DET also worries me. I'll probably roll with NE.

I'm mauling over between SF and NE. The weather scares me a bit in New England, but with Boldin out most likely, I wouldn't be shocked if the Cards settle with having Leinart playing the second half. With SF, DeShaun Foster showed he still has a bit left in the tank and ran the ball pretty good.

I really want to take the Broncos, but with the way Marshawn Lynch is playing i could see him having a field day and the Bills trying to run the clock the whole game. The thing that scares me is that gameplan seems logical, too logical that **** Jauron won't do it.

Houston also looks good. Although they are only 2-5 on the road to this point, their 5 road loses are to the Steelers, Titans, Colts, Vikings, and Jaguars (in OT). They've also won their last 2 road games against the Browns and Packers.

I think both the Texans and Broncos win. If the Bills go with their 3rd stringer, i'll take the Broncos. Otherwise i'm leaning towards the Texans.

My gut says take Baltimore tonight over Dallas and duck the gimmie/scare games all together.

Seriously though,

1 - I like NE first as ARZ seems to be CONTENT to have made the playoffs. They didn't even show up in MIN last weekend.

2 - HOU. Their road record scares me, but Schuab is back and the team is building steam. I like this team right now.

3 - NO. This is the no brainer pick looking at it a few weeks back. Today, I see it as a trap game. How can NO players not expect a win going into this game?

4 - DEN over Buffalo. I just don't like taking division games in a survivor contest unless it's PIT over CLE or CIN.

I'm going with Denver most likely. I'm a bit worried that Tampa Bay will beat San Diego meaning Denver will have nothing to play for. The only other team I see myself picking this week is Houston. They are playing REALLY well right now and are playing a team in Oakland that might be the worst team in the sport. Teams who I've used are below.

PHI AZ NYG JAC DAL MIN TB NE CHI NYJ CAR PIT TEN SD IND

I've gone from Houston back to Denver now I'm leaning Houston again. I didn't realize that SD is an early game while Denver is a late game. If TB takes care of SD, there will be no sense of urgency for Denver. I could see the Rat packing it in after a quarter or two, just like he did last weekend. Denver, not unlike Arizona, will be happy to just make the playoffs. Houston is of course out of the playoff hunt, but they're playing very well and are facing an Oakland team that seems like they've mailed it in.

Unless I missed overnight realignment, these teams play in different divisions.
I think he means he don't like picking division games, so thats why he has DEN > BUFF there on the list.
i don't think so. He already has 4 other non-divisional games on his list. I dont think he would include another one just because.

I've still got Philly left. I haven't seen anyone mention thinking about Philly over a Washington team that seems like they are mailing it in too, and possibly without Portis. Philly is a road team too but I think I like them this week.

Hous at Oak - Steady Rain this afternoon

AZ @ NE - Wintery Mix with 20-30 mph winds

Buf @ Denver - Cold

NO @ Det - No weather impacts

Weather change anyones mind today - What about the Detroit missing two key players on D at S and CB as well as the loss of S McDonald? No one has discussed them.

Maybe a couple of "key" players missing from Detroit is a good thing for the Lions. They haven't won with them. I'm still waffling between New Orleans and New England. I've got 4 hours to change my mind from picking New England.

I'll admit it when I blew it. My mental fart thinking they were in the same division. :shortbus: Despite that, I'd still stay away from this game. DEN has been way too inconsistent. There are other matchups that I like better.
