Week 17 - New England Patriots at New York Giants (4 Viewers)

I don't care what anyone says Randy Moss is the best receiver in the game right now!
He has incredible hands, but his route running is sub-par. He is who he is, because of the team he is on. If he is so great, where was he in Oakland?
"sub-par" , lol.
Maybe he meant sub-par compared to other hall of fame receivers?
I would consider that as a truth.
Just to clarify - no I mean sub-par among any NFL WR standards. He has always been a poor route runner. Back in the MIN days sometimes he didn't even run routes, he just ran down field looking for the open seam or he would just out-jump people for the ball. This isn't my opinion, this was made known from quotes by Daunte Culpepper after Moss left Minnesota. Moss is an incredible talent and that talent has lifted him to great heights, but he is no master at his craft, by any stretch. :goodposting:

Kudos to the Giants for playing their starters this long. They have nothing to gain here, and they're playing like it's a real NFL game.(note: I feel that teams that have playoff spots locked up think of these types of games as exhibition games)
As long as this is close they will keep all of their starters in. Two reasons:1.) History2.) Huge confidence boost heading into the playoffs. And, for Manning this could help define his career.

Now really, I'm not saying this to be a jag or anything, but how is that not illegal contact against Harrison on that play?

At least Eli and the Giants came to play early...it's not like they're known for this.

Big drive right here...need to stop the Pats.

He has incredible hands, but his route running is sub-par. He is who he is, because of the team he is on and the protection his QB gets. If he is so great, where was he in Oakland?
:goodposting: Randy is one of the best ever but his gaudy numbers are a product of the system. Put TO on that team and he would have several take-it-to-the-house TDs because of the protection.
Plain and simple, Randy Moss is "the system" on whatever team he is on.

Wow, did Brady ever lift a weight in college?
How would Brady currently grade out in an NFL scouting type of combine compared to other NFL QB's?I mean, does he have a good arm vs. the average nfl QB? Is any of his success raw talent based? Or is he simply just an intelligent QB with good physical skills, and excellent intangibles and leadership?
Physically, hes now 6'4" 225 with one of the stronger arms in the league and decent foot speed. He's in the proto-typical mold now.
His foot speed is well below-average. He just knows how to slide in the pocket better than anyone since Marino.

Just going to keep a runing tab of why the Giants lost this game:1. Toomer drop on third down2. Phantom illegal contact call against Giant defending Stallworth, negating a third down sack of Brady3. Moss gets away with pushing off on a TD catch4. Giants punt. You never give their offense the ball on purpose.

He's no Vick, but he's hardly Leftwich/Bledsoe. Plus, he juked out Urlacher. His legs may not be a bonus, but they're hardly a negative.

just a thought...

does anyone else think the TD record has been totally under the radar? mean, when Manning was going to break Marino's record it was the biggest story in sports for at least a month.

Similar to McGwire chasing Maris > Bonds chasing McGwire

You're not crazy, the Manning thing was unbearable near the end of it. The perfect season aspect is overshadowing Brady's accomplishments, as well they should.

NFL Network had a great shot set up: Brady on the sideline with Moss approaching him and the two starting to jaw about the TD that might have been and yet they cut away to show Bruschi for no reason. Why the addiction to these quick camera cuts?

Just a casual observation, but seeing the Giants get flagged for holding on the kickoff reminds me of how good the Patriots are. I mean, they never get called for holding on kickoffs.

Uh oh that doesn't look pretty. Shame that this could happen.

:hophead:

Thats the risk you run for trying.
