***Week 3 Picks*** (1 Viewer)

First of all, take these all with a grain of salt.

Secondly, these are for educational purposes only.

Third - I think it is a major mistake to try and predict all games.

My ranking system is based on "Stars", which gauges how strongly I feel about each pick.

So, here they are:

*ONE STAR GAMES*

Detroit Lions vs. Philadelphia Eagles (over 44) (1 star)

This looks harder than it seems - and it is Philly's fault. This Jekyll and Hyde team can score 40 on their own, and they can also shut down anyone on any given Sunday. Assuming a return to normalcy, 27-24 seems likely.

**TWO STAR GAMES**

Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets (-3) (2 stars)

Health issues play a factor - Chad Pennington, Zach Thomas, Joey Porter, the Miami secondary - seems to favor the Jets. Historically these two play each other tight in the competitive AFC East, but I think the Jets win by 6 or more.

Carolina Panthers (-4) over Atlanta Falcons (2 stars)

I usually am not a fan of road favorites in divisional games, but... HAVE YOU SEEN ATLANTA? Probably not if you are reading this, as I would assume anyone that watched the abysmal Falcons had been rendered blind, at least temporarily. Carolina gets healthy on the ground and on defense against a hapless Atlanta team.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Seattle Seahawks (over 50) (2 stars)

Fifty? Five-oh? Half a century? You bet. It will take 27 to win this game at a minimum and I don't see either team struggling for scores. 34-31 sounds likely.

***THREE STAR GAMES***

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Denver Broncos (-3) (3 stars)

Let me know in what phase of the game, or what matchup, favors Jacksonville. O vs D? D vs O? Special teams? I think we'll still be wondering on Monday. Denver by at least 7.

New York Giants at Washington Redskins (-4) (3 stars)

DC is happy again with a team that is winning, 2-0 for the first time in a long time, and they get the hapless G-men coming to town. If Plax cannot go, well, this won't even be close. Even if he is a go, the Redskins have only given up 25 points all year. I still have issues calling a divisional game more than 2 stars.....but I'll try anyway.

 of the Week - Denver

Enjoy.

(Yes Week 2 I got my hat handed to me, amongst other things - but I don't think I was alone. 3-10 in "star" scoring after a 4-3 Week 1).

Yes Jeff, I'm back again to critique your Gambling Ways! :D Det/Philly OVER 44 :suds:

Jets - 3: Hmm.. As you said in your analysis, these two teams usually play tight games. I see this as a possible push, with the Jets winning on a late FG.

Panthers -4: Panthers should be able to cover this number. They have always played much better on the road that at home.

Bengals/Hawks OVER 50: I think Seattle's D will keep this number a lower than the posted 50, so I would say this is going UNDER.

Broncos -3: I don't like the way the Broncos are playing now. They have had two close calls and had no business winning last week. This looks like a trap game. Both of these run defenses are horrible right now. IF Jacksonville can commit to a running game with Taylor and Jones-Drew, they have a chance to win IMO. If they conitinue to play like they don't know what they are doing, the Broncos should cover. This again looks like a PUSH to me.

Washington -4: Wow, are the Giants really this bad? The G-man's secondary is bad and I see Campbell picking them apart along with the running game. I like Washington and the points!

Good Luck!
