Week 3 waiver wire pickups (2 Viewers)

Someone just dropped Dez Bryant in one of my leagues. Granted its a redraft but seriously wtf!

Glad I saved my waiver wire 1 in that league. He will be a nice addition to my 2-0 playoff team.
You have a 2 week regular season!? That's crazy! How long are playoffs, 1 quarter?

;)

How many teams? In a 10 team redraft where Dez isn't attracting any trade offers I don't think it's that unreasonable for an 0-2 team to dump a guy who may be out 8 weeks or longer, and then may not be 100% when he returns. That team needs to make moves that will help it win now.
This would be my feeling. Of course I am scarred by holding Gordon last year. It is a real detriment to your team to hold a player that MAY get to play in the playoffs. He could be a difference maker there but it is a long time to waste a roster spot.
I totally agree. I drafted Gordon with my last round pick last season, and held him all the way to the fantasy playoffs, with all but nothing to show for it. I'm a Dez owner this season, in a league where noone trades, and I won't hesitate to drop him for the right free agent.
I was a Gordon owner last year and the year before. The two situations are very different. There's more uncertainty on Dez's return timetable but he is 1000% more of a proven consistent producer on the field than Gordon ever was, with way less off field baggage. When Gordon eventually came back there was still the question of whether or not the prior season was a fluke. Zero doubts about Dez there. I'm 2-0 and probably have a playoff team without him so I have the luxury of not dropping him and he'd be the last guy on my bench I'd drop without any substantial return.

They just seem so similar to me, but would you go with Bortles or Carr off the Waiver Wire this week?

They both have that big play receiver (Robinson and Cooper), both have similar teams...

I'm leaning Carr but any advice?

I'd probably pick Bortles. I like his schedule better than Carr's. I think the Jags have a better D too, so maybe their offense will get on the field more. I could be wrong.

Matt Jones or Karlos WIlliams? Both available on my wire.
Matt Jones by a mile in my book. It looks like he's going to have a substantial piece of the action no matter what, whereas Karlos is waiting for a Shady injury
I'm planning to drop Karlos for Matt Jones in 12 team redraft.
Anyone else you can stop instead? Karlos looks like the real deal and you just know shady will kiss time at some point.

Julius Thomas is on our WW in a TE optional league. I have one spot on my bench open, but I'm debating whether the eventual reward will be worth the wait.

I may have missed it, but has Ryan Mallett been brought up yet? I know he hasnt been killing it, but he has a stud WR and is about to get a stud RB back on the field. He has a big arm. Potential for a WW steal here. Especially in dynasty.

What about Jordon Reed or Crockett Gilmore?
I like Gilmore a lot. They need a playmaker who isn't Steve Smith, and Gilmore looked great on tape. I think he's a TE who can consistently get you 50-60 yards and have his big games here and there.

Alshon Jeffery was just dropped in one of my leagues, I got $150/200 of my free agent budget left and either Danny woodhead, john brown, or james jones is my drop. What's he worth or do I even bother?

Absolutely shocked not a single mention of one ANTONIO GATES .

I know there are weeks 3 and 4 you have to deal without him, but grab him now (or after the waivers clear).

He will be among the most heavily sought after players when that week comes, and all the analysts will at least mention him on sites and podcasts.

If you are among the TE needy, then pick him up now and avoid everyone clamoring for him late week 3 and week 4.

I am starting Heath Miller in one league, and I know that train should slow considerably once Martavis comes back.

You have to think that Gates and his Rivers connection will give you solid numbers the rest of the season.

Before some goof says "he was drafted in my league", he was drafted in 2 of the 4 I am in also, but per Yahoo he is only 44% owned and that should double once week 4 is upon us.

TZM

I dropped Charles Johnson for Brian Quick this week. CJ looks like he's the 4th option in that offense and Quick should be coming back in the next week or two. Rams look like they want to throw the ball a lot so far

Been holding him in one league since Week 1. About to pick him up in another league here shortly. I have Olsen already, but Gates is nice trade bait. Julius Thomas is also out there in the same league.

Long term, how would you rank Ebron, Gates, and Thomas? Ebron will likely cost more (FAAB) than Gates and Thomas who can currently be picked up for next to nothing. I have Delanie Walker rostered as my TE (picked up in a trade) but feel I need to pick up a backup for insurance.

Gates, Thomas, Ebron

and Green has his 2nd concussion in as many weeks...stevie johnson will be great until Gates comes back

I think Stevie is going to stay starter worthy even once Gates comes back. I was thinking Green would finally dent into Gates' numbers slightly this year as would Stevie, but with the news of Green's 2nd concussion, it will likely mostly be Stevie.

Um, Quick has been a healthy scratch each of the first two weeks. The Rams have failed to explain why, other than to say he's healthy. I had high hopes for him coming into the season, but the fact that he can't even make the roster for a team that isn't exactly loaded at WR to begin with raises a huge red flag.

No way I'd drop CJ for him.

What about Jordon Reed or Crockett Gilmore?
I grabbed Gilmore as Cameron insurance. Hard to put too much stock into his performance vs. Raiders, but seems like he might be worth a flier.

That said, Reed has TE1 talent and plays in an offense that's without its best WR for at least a few more weeks. He is absolutely the play here (assuming you have a backup for his inevitable injury).

You guys think Benjamin is for real or just a flash in the pan?

He's still a FA in one of my leagues.
Probably flash, but he has scored too much not to be owned now.

I feel like he may be the Martavis Bryant of last year. He's gonna be boom or bust, but you have to take a chance on him if you have bench room.
The guy he kind of reminds me of is Hurns...

Blew a large amount of FAAB on him for practically nothing.

He could be legit though, that's why I asked. Can't bring myself to watch Cleveland very much.
I think he is a DeSean Jackson clone. He could win you the week or put up zero. But on talent alone, you have to pick him up if he's available. Speed kills and he could easily end up leading the league in long TDs. He runs good routes and has good hands. He's two years removed from the ACL surgery and he's in a contract year. You could do a lot worse than this guy. I just overpaid for him in FFPC, but I really needed a WR.

Thing is that he got hurt week 8 of last season. It isn't realistic to expect him back in full condition much before then. That doesn't mean he won't be the leading WR1 the last 8 games.

Well I went off on the crazy train.... Well my league has most players have spent 50-100% of their FAAB already! Hoping for some huge drops late in the season for playoff crunch. I've spend 2$ off 1000$

Grabbed KC DEF for 1$ next best D left isn't even close will sit on them till week 6 (Rams bye) then drop for a bye week running back (thinnest spot) after and ride the Rams the rest of the year. Their are no serviceable RB's available right now.

I would be worried about Foxer2374 about now. Because this is huge news.

If you have the room - and most of you do - I would take the flyer on Gilmore.

Bennett was a stud in Treastman's offense and that was with Marshal and Jeffrey. There's no second WR in Baltmore which should mean more chances for Gilmore.

He is the only real RZ target as well.

temporarily... BP `s knee is ''getting close''

Yeah that was a career game that's unlikely to be repeated. He didn't suck before because he played on bad teams. He sucked because he sucks. I still can't believe he made that TD catch. He drops that 7 times out of 10.

So Wheaton has value?
