Week 4 waiver wire pickups (1 Viewer)

tyrod taylor for big ben owners
i dont understand how people dont draft a quality # 2 QB in case things( Injuries ) like this happen?
 I almost never draft a #2 QB or a #2 TE unless I'm going the QBBC approach. If I get a good QB, I just ride them...The way I see it, After the top 10 QB's, the odds of any guy panning out consistently is a crap-shoot. I'd much rather grab a WR/RB in a positional battle and hope he pans out, and take my chances on the WW or FA for a back-up if needed.
This depends greatly on the league. Shallow bench leagues I always carry just one. Deeper benches can be much more difficult to find an adequate replacement, and I like a good alternative.

Agree, plus there is "usually" someone on the WW in 12 team leagues who can give you some innings. In one 12 team PPR league I am in, I drafted Big Ben as my only QB and on the WW we have Dalton, Carr, Bortles, Winston, Fitz, Mallett, Cousins, Bridgewater, Alex Smith, Cutler and Romo.

Frick - I am a Romo owner in a 12 team league - unfortunately having ALex Smith as my backup. So when I had to go to the WW to find a QB1 to start ahead of Alex Smith my choices we Taylor, Carr and Bortles. Got lucky to snag Taylor and probably could have gotten by with Carr. All other QBs are on lockdown and owners are so skittish about injuries they won't trade their backups.

Dalton on there as a Ben owner. How much would you be willing to spend of your FAAB?
looks to me like a brutal stretch of defenses coming up for him, plus a bye. they also are likely going to make an effort to make strides in their run game. and he usually goes to crap in the winter months, should ben's injury last longer.

i wouldn't burn a ton of ur faab, and would probably look elsewhere.

Crockett Gilmore/Maxx Williams for Gronk owners this week? Gilmore didn't play in 2nd half, though he was on the sideline, so unsure of status....
Yeah, I pre-emptively added Crockett last week and now I am thinking that was a waste. I can't trust him.
I did the same thing. I was at the Jet game so I didn't see what went down with Crockett. Who is the TE add this week for Gronk? Ebron is already gone.

Clay had a good week and NYG is a decent matchup given they had lots of LB injuries. Barnidge had a big week but it was against OAK so I wouldn't trust him. Fleener might be worth a shot if he was dropped.

larger leagues / deep benches - Robert Turbin RB CLE

listening to the pettine presser today, he mentioned crow missing several "holes" or runs - didn't sound happy about it. duke is more of a COP guy. a couple more below average games by crow and that gets us to week 4 - when turbin is said to be returning. IF he's heathy and the ankle is good, the door to a staring RB - though it is the browns offense.

pettine desperately wants/needs to get the ground game going. if crow ain't getting it done, I can see turbin getting a serious look. YMMV

well i drafted Big Ben in the 4th rd (6 pt passing td) and then grabbed Newton a few rds later....now i lose Ben for up to 6 weeks but feel good having Cam as my fill in...i will drop a bench player for a week in week 5 to grab a WW Qb for 1 week

Be surprised if he wasn't already picked up but Karlos Williams with how bad Shady looks. If Shady still isn't badly hurt I can't seem him staying the #1 until the end of the season. At least Lynch has the excuse for being hurt.
Karlos is available in one of my 10 team leagues. I guess I should use my #1 waiver on him.

Bilal Powell and Theo Riddick in PPR

Don't see Ivory lasting, and even when he's played Powell has looked pretty decent as a PPR flex.

No way Joique continues to plod along, and soon the Lions will be looking to the future. Liked Riddick last year, but he never got a legit shot.

Similar to you, I drafted Romo and grabbed Newton a few rounds later. Sans Romo, I too am pleased thus far with Newton. Will try and pick up Alex Smith for week 5 game against the Bears in Arrowhead. Hope Smith has quiet and unremarkable game tonight v. the Pack.

targeting him and Palmer.
How is Palmer on any ww? He's a top 5 fantasy QB right now.
So is Tyrod. The top QBs in my 6 pt TD league are Brady, Dalton, Palmer and Tyrod. Cam, MM, Bortles and Carr are all in the QB1 mix as well. This was not the year to take a QB early.
Or running back for that matter.
Huh?

Have Bell, AP, Charles, or Lacy been bad so far? (aside from Lacy's injury)
ya that makes no sense. seems like the perfect year to take a rb round 1 (besides anderson)
Or Hill

Or Miller

I don't think anyone was taking Miller in the first, but maybe McCoy or Murray. Also, I am not sold that things are going to work out well for Lynch owners.

Ya Miller def not first round. Mccoy, Murray, Hill were possible, but I didn't see any of those three go round 1 in any of my 8 leagues. Lynch/Anderson also were going round 2 in some. The only SURE FIRE 1st rounders this year were: AP, Lacy, Charles, Bell.... all of which who have been solid/look good so far. Anderson seems to be the only big miss.

Im starting to think Theo Ridick is worth a pickup in PPR
went to check this out and dude had 8 catches on 16 snaps. (not targets) interesting, but is he the next guy in line if joique continues to struggle.

Big backs: Joique, Zach Zenner, George Winn (PS)

CoP: AA

Former WR who found a role as a pass catching specialist: Chronicles of Riddick

What are people's thoughts on Alfred Blue? He's coming off a big game this last week but with Foster coming back does Blue disappear or is he a Dynasty pickup/hold?

Not seeing much that interests me this week. I guess ill go after Britt or Ginn for minimal FAAB money because Charles Johnson is a waste of a spot. In the league I have Gronk, Clay is the easy/clear target.

Can't believe I'm getting sucked back in, but there were noises today about Quick finally making his 2015 debut this week. If so, he could be worth a flier. It's not like any other STL WRs are setting the turf on fire.

I picked up Blue for 1$ outa 1000$ the pickings are so slim at RB it's insane. I will happily sit on Blue and pull him out when needed, still a major upgrade over the crap out there.

D. Freeman or K. Williams?

Who has more value for the next week?

Next month?

Rest of season?
I'd say Williams has more value next week as shady is ruled out. For the next month I'd say for sure Freeman as Coleman is out a few weeks. Rest of season is a tough as freeman is a total wild card and it depends how ATL splits carries with coleman back.

I see what you did there.

Disagree in a big way here. Dalton has what looks to be the best set of weapons of his career and is balling. Hill not getting it done on the ground either.

Dalton has looked great so far. The matchup against KC doesn't look to tough as KC has been shredded through the air so far. Seattle and Buffalo still don't look too appealing and then he has a bye. The problem is, and I'm sure this is common in other leagues too, with all the QB injuries, there just isn't much out there on the WW. In my league there's Dalton, Winston, Carr, Flacco, Fitzpatrick, Mallett and Cousins. Nothing to really get excited about. I'll probably spend a little to try and get Dalton for this week, but if I miss, Carr could be my backup plan.

That's my plan in the league I drafted Wilson/Romo in. I think Carr and Dalton are pretty close, actually. Everything last week said that Carr looked good but if he can put up points playing away against a good Browns pass D, then he's legit. Well, that's exactly what he did.

Pretty glad I picked them both up last week in my PPR league. (drafted Bradford)

Anyone dropping Bradford for a new backup?
you mean a new starter? yes. a resounding yes after 3 weeks of his shenanigans.

looking like carr or vick as the best available options. in a doomsday scenario, fitzpatrick (as im last in the waiver order).

Any news on Julius Thomas. Earlier reports said he might be able to get back by Week 4. He could be a nice option with Robinson and Hurns on the outside.

Why Vick?
Hopefully the offense being as good as it is will elevate Vick...Also, not sure what year but it was (post suspension for dog fighting) Vick had a great year. That year I am thinking, I am not sure if he opened the season as the starter or ended up that but I lost a matchup against some crazy Monday night performance.
That was like 5 seasons ago. And the only year he had over a 60% comp ratio. He is also 5 years older now.

I pretty much check every day for news on him. He's put in limited practices the last 2 weeks, so you would think he has got to be close at this point.
