Week 5 Injury Thread (1 Viewer)

Not that anyone is in any rush to use Patriot players but David Andrews is done for the year so there is a chance their line could be even worse...which at this point is pretty impressive.

*Neither Mixon or Pierce able to return to practice despite 3 weeks ago us all being told their injuries were not severe and being told last week Pierce was close.

*Per Doc Chao, Nabers needed to get in a LP today to get cleared. He was not seen at practice. So if Chao is right, unless he did things behind the scnenes to be able to get a LP designation on today's practice report it would appear he's out.

*Diontae Johnson fine, back at practice today.

Two potential big RB issues to monitor:

*BROB not practice yet this week. Meanwhile Ekeler back.

*Singletary not practicing this week. Saying he "has a chance to play" and would for sure have sat out if the Giants had played Sunday instead of Thursday.

*AR back at practice. I'm stiil not sold he plays and owners of Downs and Pittman are sure hoping not.

*They are acting like their is some element of suspense to JT playing this week. There is not.

*Doubs not spotted in open portion of practice, heard he likely stayed "inside".

Maybe not injury related, but interesting:

*Miles Sanders not spotted at open of practice after getting in full practice yesterday.ETA-he was just ill, was thinking he might have got traded.

. — Downs was doing really well when AR was in the game
He had one catch for 11 yards.
That’s correct. AR was playing really well in the first qtr and had the Steelers on the ropes. He connected with Pittman a a few big plays. After he went out Pittsburgh mounted a comeback. The Colts were more predictable with Flacco IMO. Had fewer options and the Steelers defense played better when AR went out.

I watched the game. Steeler's fan and agree Richardson came out looking good but it still remains he only connected with Downs once so I don't know how you can label that as Downs doing really well.

No need to convince me of Downs talent. He's actually my most owned and drafted player this year. Was all over him. I mentioned this in his thread but I recall having a WR starved team last year that picked up him and Dell and before Downs got injured it was Downs who I was putting in lineups over Tank. But that production was with Minshew. His big game this week was with Flacco. I would not have been drafting him if I did not think he could produce with Richardson but at this point it's still just an idea and nothing we've seen like when the backups get in. As such, with a ton of players on bye this week for my teams and a load of Nabers teams, I'm pulling for AR to sit a week and not try and find out how Downs does with him, rather put that off another week when I have more starting lineup options.

I believe I agreed with you on Downs for 11 yards with Richardson. He did connect with Pittman for a few big plays and you also mentioned him as probably better with Flacco. My point was, besides being wrong about Downs connection with AR, was the Colts were more predictable with Flacco and the Steelers defense seemed to be better and preferred to play against Flacco than AR.

Remeo Doubs (personal) did not practice Thursday.

"I don't know. We'll take it one day at a time." when LaFleur was asked regarding his availability for Sunday.

Yes good for Wicks if Doubs is out due to the matchup.
But I'm more interested in whether Doubs got traded. GB seems to have a crowded WR room. Well not at this moment with Watson going down.
But if they think Watson will come back sooner than later, as they haven't put him on IR yet, then maybe.

We have seen "personal" designation before. But teams usually are public about it. Such as having a baby. Or attending a funeral. And he isn't sick.
So the secrecy is worth speculating if involved in a trade.

I doubt he is OTB.

Why not? He’s under contract through 2025. That’s not a long term deal. Making about a million/year

Chiefs has a shot at acquiring Doubs more than Adams

Probably because they are 2-2 and Love is back and Watson is hurt again.

Yeah. Not sure why anyone would think GB is selling now or at all and why Doubs would be on his way out. The room is not all that crowded and Doubs has been a guy Love has gone too in big times if games before.

I mean I guess at this stage we're way too far down the other way for my opinion to be worth jack, but this thread was infinitely more useful when it was just used for in game things that haven't immediately been reported everywhere on the internet and news of active/inactives for game time decisions, rather than someone reading Khalil Shakir is out in multiple different places and feeling the need to tell us when anyone clued up knows already and anyone else has 48 hours to find out

One of my favorite injury update podcasts - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8KjgtDjQgA
I noticed the video says Mixon and Pierce are out already. Yahoo seems to agree, as they have both projected for 0, and Akers/Ogunbowale projected for 15+ as a duo. But when I try to find anything definitively saying Mixon is out, nothing comes up. Same with Pierce.
When he distinguishes between in / out / GTD, these are just his opinion, considering what he knows.

Oh yes, I know these are just his opinions and he makes that perfectly clear from the beginning of the video. I was only pointing out he says Mixon and Pierce are OUT, and Yahoo already has them at 0 points. Yet Rotoworld's most recent is still holding onto slim hope for both of them. FWIW, I agree with the doctor in the video, and already have Akers in my lineup.

I'll see your worse and raise you worser. Rookie LT Caeden Wallace also placed on IR.

The sad part is this is actually a loss…not sure what they have in this kid but he doesn’t ’t even get to develop now…with the state of this o line I can’t see them having more then 3 wins this season.

May I ask why you checked this thread on a Friday in the first place?

That isn't intended as the common snarky "No one told you to come here." response. It's a sincere question. Did you think there was some injury news that you may have missed?

Personally I like having a "one stop shop" for things like this. I view it similarly to the WDIS thread. Rather than going to the AC Forum and/or the individual player threads you can go to one place to crowd source information and opinions.

Keep up the good work @JohnnyU

I just saw there was a bunch of posts in it, likely for no real reason (from my perspective), and I couldn't recall whether I had already displayed my displeasure at the decline in quality of the thread previously. So, as I had seen Shakir was out from multiple sources at the same time, and as to cover any potential unseen "must have content" clause, it seemed as good a time as any to voice my thoughts as to how the thread has become much less useful. Frankly there should be next to no posts in this thread at this time barring a four sigma injury event, which basically involves an asteroid hitting the stadium, in which case we really don't care about whether Kyle Pitts has tweaked his hamstring

It is my belief that the current week injury news thread be created after the Monday night game from the previous week. That way we can track current injury news that will be relative to this current week's games. There is more going on with injury news than what's just in the in-game threads as @titusbramble mentioned, and frankly, by then it's too late and that will be more relevant to the next week's games. We want news that affects our decision making when setting lineups and making add/drops before the games have been played, not after, or during.

Not criticizing anything going on in this Thread, however, to be fair, the News Blogger covers most of what's being posted in here during the week, and like the Forums, it's free to everyone, Subscribers and non-Subscribers, alike.

Any news I want, regarding a Player, I go to his Thread, and if I'm a good boy, Faust has me covered.

Last I will say on it, I like a SINGLE injury thread each new week. I won’t be starting another, but I’m sure someone will. Not pointing at you because I responded to your post, but I think it’s foolish and petty to be bothered by it.

No idea what the news blogger is.

A thread like this is useful for a 1-stop place to find injury information for everyone. Saves time from tracking down individual player threads. If a player is out, I want to know about it ahead of time, so I can make a roster move if necessary- and I am not wired up 24/7 to get the latest breaking news.

This is exactly the type of thread I use. I’m not an Insta or Twitter guy, so everything I need comes from threads like this.
Twitter is amazing at gathering your info for you. I recommend it for sure.
I don’t use X, but I like Rotoballer since Rotoworld went to crap, only caring about gambling and a busy screen.. There is something to a one stop shop that people here using many different sources post to. I see value in that.

Even FBGs isn’t Johnny on the spot with everything. A thread with many posters posting news from many sources is better. Sorry.

I check this thread daily. Usually more than once. I appreciate it's presence here in the SP so, please continue weekly @JohnnyU if possible. I have other alerts and ways of being informed but, I appreciate posters viewpoints also, even if I may disagree with them. I'm not an expert and want to read contrarian views. The worst thing I could imagine is believing I know it all. The best way (even if this game is mostly luck of the draw) to be successful is to be open & willing to listen/read other folks thoughts on any given situation. Injuries account for much of that "luck" factor, good or bad.

I lnow not an injury. And probably better for the Doubs thread but wanted to add a my bad for being so dismissive. No real trade rumors yet by word is he skipped Thursday and Friday because he is upset about his usage in the pass game.

Dude, thank you. I didn't know that existed. Seems pretty useful.
It should definitely be more prominent. It doesn't appear on my screen after clicking Home. What displays is just a short list of the latest updates, and you can only get to the News Blogger by clicking one of them. A big clear News Blogger link would be so much more intuitive. Anyway, thanks.

17 seconds ago San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (ribs) is expected to play against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5 despite being listed as questionable, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Kittle had been limited in practice but is trending toward playing Sunday, just one week after an impressive showing against the New England Patriots in which he caught four passes for 45 yards and one touchdown. The 30-year-old is one of the NFL's best tight ends and should be deployed as a high-end fantasy TE1, even against an Arizona Cardinals defense that has performed better than expected so far this season.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller

A.Jones hasn't played for now the 2nd drive, he was limping on the sideline without his helmet. Announcers said he was hurting a bit but didn't elaborate.

Edit - announcers mentioned Hammy. They showed him trying to stretch/jog it out.
