Week 6 Injury Thread (1 Viewer)

We talked about having one big Injury thread vs a new thread each week here and most folks said they'd rather have a new thread each week. So here we are!

I'll start one each Monday.

A couple of things to please keep in mind that would be really helpful if everyone can do.

1. Please use the players real name when you're posting. And please be specific as you can about the injury. If you don't know, say you don't know.

In other words, "A-Rob just got blown up!!!!!" sucks. "Allen Robinson in on the ground with what looks like a knee injury" is way better.

2. Please let us know the source and share a link if possible. If you're watching the game and saw the injury, please say that. If you read it on Twitter, please say that and give a link. If you got a Sleeper Alert, please say that and click through on Sleeper to the source that's usually a tweet and share that link.

3. Please let us know what happened after the injury. This is super important. Was he:

Carted off

Helped off with assistance

Walked off with a limp or something

4. Please update if they come back to the game or sidelines. Hopefully it's a "He's back in the game and looks ok". Or it may be "He's on the sideline without his helmet". That kind of thing.

You get the idea.

It also seems like this thread would be good during the week to have a pinned place where we talk injuries not just from the game as they happen but also leading up to the games each week.

One of the best things we do at Footballguys is the Monday Injury Rounds from our Dr. Jene Bramel. https://www.footballguys.com/article/2022-nfl-injury-rounds-monday-week06

Let's start with that.

We can talk about the players who are dealing with injuries up till game time.

And then once the games start, talk about injuries as they come up.

Excellent. The Dr Jene monday report is great an I use it every week but since the midweek article has been discontinued and not everyone in the forums has a subscription It is great that you are encouraging following injury information in the weekly injury thread as well.

Thanks. Jene felt the midweek report wasn't bringing enough value to the reader so he chose to focus on making the Monday report even stronger and then focusing on the Game Day Expectation report at the end of the week to bring readers the most insight.

I don't know if Jene was short on time this week, in which case fair enough, but I was fairly disappointed by the lack of information within this week's Monday report. I'd like to know how much I can upgrade Stevenson based on how long Damien Harris is likely to be out for, or how aggressive I should be in picking up Eno Benjamin given Conner's injury, if I need to make a roster spot based on the likelihood of Olave/Hines passing the concussion protocol, or whether I should downgrade DJ Moore hugely based on the situation with Baker Mayfield. All those players in question have nothing more than one line saying probable/questionable/doubtful (if that) in a list of "injuries to monitor". I'd rather Jene have expanded on any one of those rather than tell us that Penny is done for the season, in redraft at least we can work that one out for ourselves...

Thanks. I think it's important to be clear though on who does what. Jene is super knowledgeable but he's almost exclusively about injury. And players returning from injury.

In this case, almost all the talk on Stevenson will be from Sigmund and Cecil on the Waiver Report and Upgrade. They also now are doing an extended podcast report on the Waiver info with time stamps to help folks jump to positions. https://www.footballguys.com/podcast/the-audible-week-6-waiver-wire-show-fantasy-football-2022. And then Bob Henry and Justin Freeman will dive hard into the Rest Of Season value which is another piece of it. https://www.footballguys.com/rankings/rest-of-season

Yes, but I bring up Stevenson as his value is directly affected by Harris's injury. All I see is Harris is doubtful week 6. Getting someone else's takes as to where they see Rhamondre in terms of value rest of the season is useful for sure, but I'd like to have seen something like Jene saying something like "based on video this looks like a mid-grade strain, he's going to be out week 6 for sure, it's typically a 2-3 week recovery period, but with the Patriots having a week 10 bye, don't be surprised to see them not rush Harris back" so I can better gauge how long I can have my back who isn't injured as an automatic starter for.

On almost all cases with Jene on this, if he doesn't say something it's because he truly doesn't know. He is often criticized for that, but I appreciate that about him.

And I don't mean to derail this into a defending Jene. I think he's the best in the business and he'll keep doing what he's doing as he has been for a good while. I think Footballguys has the best injury insight of any site I know. I don't want to derail into that.

For this thread though, let's use it to talk up what we're seeing on players heading into the week. And then of course on game day. Thanks.

My problem with Dr Jene is he's just such a damn calm and cool demeanor. Like nothing fazes the guy. I can picture him telling me...
"Well Mr Simsarge, looking at the video review of your injury from the game tape suggests that based on the mechanism of two 376 pound human behemoths separately removing your spinal cord from your torso, you're probably already dead. But the Monday MRI should confirm that you'll be on IR for a few weeks at least. "

" Phew, thanks Dr Jene, I was afraid it might be serious"

I agree with you...which is what I liked about the mid week injury report....btw Ive heard that one of the national guys (cant remember which one) is saying Harris will be out multiple weeks.....Of course multiple weeks could be 2 or it could be many more than 2....but NE is usually conservative about playing injured players.

LOL. If I ever saw Jene really worried, I would be scared to death.

Thanks for doing this. I really like having a pinned weekly thread for injuries.

For anyone who doesn't already know. Carson Wentz has a broken finger:

Steelers are missing their Top 3 corners AND Minkah Fitzpatrick Tom Brady, Chris Godwin, and Mike Evans could all go NUCLEAR this week

Via Rapsheet:

Actives/inactives:
-- Bengals WR Tee Higgins is up.
-- Patriots QB Mac Jones is out, and so is RB Damien Harris.
-- Dolphins OT Terron Armstead is out.
-- Falcons TE Kyle Pitts is active.
-- Saints WR Chris Olave is out after not clearing the protocol.

J.K. Dobbins was held out of the second half in the Ravens' 24-20 loss to the New York Giants in Week 6.
Dobbins had seven carries for 15 yards with about 11 minutes left in the first half but didn't see another carry after that.
"His knee tightened up. It just didn't respond, probably to the turf maybe, I don't know," Head Coach John Harbaugh said. "But it tightened up and he couldn't go."
Kenyan Drake ripped off a 30-yard touchdown run to cap the second-quarter drive Dobbins was still involved in. After that, Drake continued to carry the load and finished with 119 rushing yards on just 10 carries.
Drake said Dobbins, who was playing in his fourth game since last year's major knee injury, was helping him from the sideline.

"Like Harbaugh said, I felt like the knee didn't really respond well to the turf or whatever," Drake said.
"It's always next man up mentality. He was in my ear being my biggest cheerleader in that sense because we're all brothers at the end of the day. Hopefully he can continue to get that knee right."
Dobbins has gotten stronger with each game, but the artificial turf at MetLife Stadium is known for being harder on players' bodies.
