Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups (1 Viewer)

Jackie Battle - chance to be a strong rb2 this year. guessing (younger) TJone ceiling next year if Charles is heathly.

Heyward-Bay - my guts says the light bulb is going on for DHB

Mark Clayton - hit or miss, but if he is a hit, he will be a big one

Damian Williams - has chance to be #1 wr for Tenn for rest of year

Greg Little - Might be your last chance to buy low.

Tim Tebow - shaping up to be a decent backup/spot starter qb with decent qb2 upside.

Doug Baldwin - would rank him in tier above except for MWilliams returning

Delone Carter - have been waiting for Carter's opp. did not anticipate a Don Brown apperance. :(

Steve Breaston - looks like he is on the rise. worry about injury history

Curtis Painter - shaping up to be a decent backup/spot starter qb

Alex Smith- same as Painter

Chaz Schilens - getting looks but when is the next injury
I agree with the tiering paulbertini though I would add more names to the list.

ETA: Greg Little

Naaman Roosevelt, Bills - A hometown favorite from the University of Buffalo, Roosevelt stepped in with five second-half catches against the Eagles after Donald Jones went down with a high-ankle sprain in Week 5. Roosevelt will move into three-wide sets with Stevie Johnson and David Nelson, who was shifted outside after Jones’ injury. As we’ve noted in the past with Nelson, the slot receiver in Chan Gailey’s offense offers PPR potential.

From Roto article. The bolded caught my attention.
Was at the game, the Bills completely conceded to the Philly corners, and only through screens and short crosses. I'm not sure they threw downfield a single time. Roosevelt played a great game, but I wouldn't expect numbers like this to be an every week occurrence.

Is Tebow worth burning 1st waiver position on this week? If I don't grab him I think someone else will grab him...

ETA - I know DEN is on bye this week.

Right now I have it as:1. Tebow:

2. DHB

3. Baldwin

4. Damian Williams (might flip with Baldwin)

5. Little

6. Breaston

Plug Battle in there somewhere at 1b or 2b (if I needed a RB, which I don't).

Part of that is based on where I'm guessing others will value players. I don't see Tebow going past the first WW pass. And for instance I still see Little under the radar for most owners, most leagues. Again that's a guesstimate.

Also, Tebow is going to have some very good games and even though I do not personally want a QB I don't want him starting for someone else and burning me.

This is the question I'm struggling with. I do need a qb and my rb depth is ok. The big question is, is he worth the #1 waiver position at this point in the year. I have a trade offer to bring me Vick for Fred Jackson which would save my waiver but I just can't see letting go of Jackson for an injury prone vick. Plus I would no longer have decent rb depth. I'm almost forced to burn my waiver on Tebow.

Having the waiver spot is a curse. You will keep holding on to and second judging each week. Take Tebow - which is probably as good as it is going to get - and just go back to making waiver picks without the worry.

anyone think a non-blount owner would spend very much in blind bidding for graham? my league tends to not go for one-week backups. as a blount owner, trying to gauge how much to put on graham

Curious to hear what kind of winning bids people are seeing for Battle and Tebow.
18-team league, $1000 budget for the year...I got Battle for $125Tebow went to another owner for the low low price of $525 (99% of that owner's remaining budget)

Why so high on Damian Williams? I thought Nate Washington was the WR1 in Tenn.
I read that Damian WIlliams actually took Britt's spot. He also had more targets than Washington last week. And two TDs in the last two weeks. Maybe people are thinking he could emerge as the WR1 in TEN.

Laurent Robinson
This guy is going to get some targets this week against NE. It's going to be a high scoring game, and NE is going to focus on Miles and Dez. 5/64/1If you're struggling to put someone into your WR3, this guy will do....this week.

I wound up taking Tebow with my first WW position.

The Browns are looking for a No. 1 WR and it sounds like Little's going to get the opportunity to be that guy. McCoy's been solid so the No. 1 WR for Cleveland has some nice upside in my opinion.DHB has been fool's gold for years. I simply don't trust him. Maybe this is the season he is more consistent but there's still Moore, Ford and even Murphy to contend with at WR. Plus McFadden catches a lot of passes there. Too many mouths to feed for me to feel good about Heyward-Bey.As far as Baldwin, I like his talent. If he's stopped being a ######## he has the chance to be a nice player. But the best he'll be in KC is the No. 2 WR and I'm not sure he'll be better than Breaston this season. Even if he is, he won't be ahead of Bowe. That's why I like Little more than those other WRs.Again, though, I'll point out Cassel for those who need a QB. He's coming on, has proven he can be a reliable QB2 and should get Baldwin back to upgrade the passing game at some point.
Re: Little, you're engaging in wishful thinking about their WR situation and projecting a rookie into that role that no one has played since Braylon E. in his one magical season. The Colt M. as "Captain Checkdown 2" moniker sure seems to fit, and that offensive philosophy doesn't seem to fit Little's strengths, IMO.Re: DHB, seems to ME that the Raiders pass O has a more consistent emphasis this year. They WILL throw for 230+ yards weekly, and they are obviously committed to DHB as an every down starter/#1 option and they will force-feed him targets. Hard to imagine less than 900 yards and 7+ TD's in that scenario, which means he's a no-brainer WR3 with immense upside in any given week. Certainly worth a nickel on the waiver wire?

I think this is a reach. If Austin and Bryant are covered then witten is the third option.
Witten will be kept in for pass protection.
Why would Witten be kept in for pass protection when NE:- has shown little ability to put pressure on opposing QBs- has a habit of taking away the big play (i.e. make teams go 10-12 plays and hope they make a mistake along the way)Note, while the above defensive approach has shown to be problematic against disciplined teams/QBs like Indy and No in the past Dallas/Romo is notI realize NE took Gates away from SD but that may have been a physical issue on Gates as much as a well-designed concerted effort by NE.As always, just my opinion.

If someone is looking for a QB2 or bye week filler, Jason Campbell may be a good pickup. Seems he has a relatively decent schedule the rest of the year. He's not a stud by any means, but he has a good amount of weapons around him (including McFadden) that can provide him decent FF numbers.
