Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups (1 Viewer)

Green has twice the talent of Starks. If he looks better he won't be splitting a whole lot.
Question is is he worth the pick up since Benson's been only getting 15 or so carries a game with one TD thru 5 games. GB is a pass first team, think I'd rather take a chance on Best coming back. How about David Wilson of the Giants for wk 6 WW.

Green seems to have a lot runs that go nowhere, but on the long one he made two guys miss once he was through the line. The next time Starks does that it'll be the first.

Alex Green look fantastic to me.... a 3rd round pick a yr ago getting his chance on a offense that can move the ball... YES PLEASE!
He had one long run. I'd have a hard time finding any other plays where he looked even average, let alone fantastic.
:goodposting:And I'd extend this to every other career run to date. If Benson is out, expect Starks to see work if healthy.
If Starks is so good why was he inactive and not the #2 back instead?

Because Starks can't pass block, which was established last year.Starks is a 2 down back. I think those thinking Green is going to handle the brunt of the load (if Benson's out) are in for a rude awakening.

Just watched the Patriot game and Bolden is for real imo. If Ridley keeps putting the ball on the ground he will see more action.

He's surprisingly still owned in a high percent of leagues.
It's probably best not to judge the future value of WRs from the weeks when they play NO.
It's not all match up, here's what I posted in a thread asking if Meachem was a crazy start this week.I'm not taking the chance but I'm eying him down on a couple of my WWs. I said coming into the season that he was essentially a 27 year old rookie and it'd take a bit of time for him to catch on. That coupled with the OL woes and there hasn't been much time for Rivers to find him. They've also narrowly missed hooking up on several deep plays. Now that Gaither is back and Meachem has had a bit more time in the system, I'm expecting him to catch on sooner than later. Norv also doesn't seem to be too worried about it. He's worth the stash still if you can afford the space. He can be a good match up play/bye week replacement down the road. Anytime SD isn't facing a team with a stout pass rush/secondary and Rivers has time to find him, he can make a big play.

Nick Foles.
:goodposting: Stashed him in a bunch of dynasties, but watching Vick flail the last couple weeks have started to think he may get a shot sooner rather than later.
Nick Foles IS one of the better rookie QB's this year imo, and judging by the success MOST of the rookie QB's have had for whatever reason (be it the NCAA pro/pass heavy systems, more high school exposure to pass heavy systems, etc.), he will be PHI's answer if Andy Reid has the balls to bench Vick - which he doesn't. They just need to send Vick on some pass/run option plays and watch his ribs snap.

Givens took over Amendola's spot when he went down. Bradford was force feeding Amendola ... does Givens get a chunk of that? He isn't the best route runner so might be more of a Meachem-ish boom or bust weekly guy.

I know the Arizona running game is garbage anyway, but depending on the status of Williams maybe William Powell gets his shot? Of course, that is if he himself is cleared to play after his concussion. With bye weeks in full swing and injuries mounting, any RB that can be reasonably expected to get double digit touches is worth rostering.

I assume Leonard was put on the list due to Scott's injury. I think it's just as likely that Cedric Peerman would pick up that meager number of carries. BJGE didn't look good this week, that is true, but I don't think he's fumbled away the job just yet.

i think he might be just that right now but this playing time will help him. he's a buy-hold for me because i expect his value to increase as the season goes on.

Must unexciting waiver wire through week 5 that I can remember in 20 years. I mean, the only one of note in our league is Morris, and that is only because for some reason our commish didn't allow pickups before week 1 (we had in past years). After that, maybe Jackie Battle. That's it. Brutal year - nothing but scrubs every week. It can't stay this way - there will be some gems to be found in the next few weeks as teams start giving other players shots.

Best

Meachem

Tebow

Joique Bell (no, I'm not joiquing)

Green

Tate

Givens

Wright

Cook, if available

Gordon

Rams DST

Bucs DST (home vs Chiefs)

:goodposting: It will be a full-blown RBBC. Not to mention Rodgers and Khun at the GL. Probably worth a grab if you've got junk on your roster but not anything to spend on or get really excited about.

Brady Quinn and Kirk Cousins
Can anybody comment on how they looked yesterday in the event Cassel/RG3 are too concussed to play week 6?
Brady Quinn looked sharp. Got the ball out quickly and fired a nice pass to Bowe for a TD on a slant pattern (called back due to illegal contact by McCluster). Not bad.
Looking like it will be Quinn this weekend:Although Matt Cassel (concussion) has yet to be ruled out for Week 6, coach Romeo Crennel says it's "highly unlikely" he plays against the Bucs. With the Chiefs on bye in Week 7, it appears they prefer to give Cassel two weeks of rest instead of rushing him back. Of course, the fact that Cassel's play was screaming for a benching before his injury is surely a factor. As it is, Brady Quinn is almost center to be under center in Tampa. Although Cassel has been horrendous, it's doubtful Quinn — who has a career 67.3 QB rating, 52.5 completion percentage and 5.4 YPA through 356 pass attempts — will be any better.Related: Brady QuinnSource: Adam Teicher on Twitter Oct 8 - 3:18 PMhttp://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3237/matt-cassel

Pick up Bucs DST, for home match vs KC?

I'm in a league where we use REAL MONEY for our Free Agent Auction Bidding system. I'm looking for value here. With our league, the RB position is so scarce, that I expect Alex Green and one of the Cards' backs to go for a bit of $$$.

Thankfully, I'm in the position where I can just make a preemptive pickup on the cheap. Here are my top pickups:

1) Steve Smith (STL) - Despite the Givens talk, the Rams want to move the football and kill clock; Smith is that possession receiver that Amendola was. A better PPR play than anything. For non-PPR, I'd roll with Brandon Gibson over Givens.

2) Kellen Davis (CHI) - With Jeffreys and Earl Bennett sidelined, I think this makes Davis a sneaky TE15 for the next few weeks, particularly in the red zone, where more attention will be given to Marshall. I don't buy the Devin Hester resurgence hype, I'm sorry.

3) Jamie Harper (TEN) - this is a long shot, but if Tennessee loses (+bad CJ0K game) and Arizona wins next week, don't be surprised if we hear "Johnson to Cardinals" talk. I have no logic behind this, it's a home run play. With Ringer out the next month or so, IF you have a deep bench, this is the play.

I'd like to weigh in on the Benson talk too. Alex Green will have his chances, but if Green Bay falls behind early in the this game, don't be surprised if we see more of Randall Cobb in the RB position in shotgun packages, even if Jennings returns. We saw in the Indy game, if Green Bay needs to play catch up football, they go to Cobb as his ability alone makes him a threat to score each time he touches the ball. I think Cobb will be a GREAT Week 6 play if you're not sure.
