Week 6 Waivers (1 Viewer)

Meredith went for $1 above my bid.... but was able to snag Hogan for just $2 and picked up Kerley straight off waivers. So a successful waiver wire period in my books.

Of course I said the same thing a couple weeks ago when I missed out on Jordan Howard and snagged Dwyane Washington and Kenneth Dixon. So, here is to hoping this WR go around turns out better than that. I just needed some good bench depth behind my main trio of WRs.

Do you think Hogan or Meredith is more valuable ROS than Hurns?

We had some discussion on the choices / ranking of Hogan - Kerley - Meredith earlier. I think that's a pretty common available combo judging by posts in this week's thread. They are by far the top 3 WR adds this week.

Hogan has a clearly defined role. He is the only reliable big WR (obviously they have two great big TEs), he is THE deep threat coming from the outside. That's a boom / bust role, running 9 routes, but it's not dependent on volume. So it doesn't matter if he has high volume, they're gonna send him down the sideline or to the post every week. If you've owned Torrey Smith in the last 6 years you know what that is like.

With Kerley, I've been saying all year "this isn't sustainable, he's had his chances before, he was gonna get cut by DET before they dealt him for a backup lineman." But he's led them in targets 4 out of 5, and actually has more targets than Smith & Patton combined.

Ashlon is not healthy. He's averaging 6.20 targets per game versus a three year average of 9.46 (higher when healthy.) Meredith isn't a #1 but he's a good route runner and at 6'3" should see a lot of RZ looks. He did well in a spot start last year but this is the first time seeing him in a feature role. He's blown by Royal and really doesn't have competition unless / until Jeffrey gets 100% - which may not happen.

I still think people are sleeping on Kerley. He's the only one of these three that has sustained production in 2016. He has a slightly favorable schedule (I count 8 plus matchups, 6-7 for the other two.) He has little competition for targets - and easily the worst QB situation. Solid WR3/Flex.

Going forward, Meredith has the most upside as he should continue as the #2. He won't get 12 targets a week but 6-8 is right in line with what Bellamy/Royal were being fed last year. High end WR3/ low end WR2.

Hogan won't see his role increase but if you can accept carrying him as a WTH Flex, go for it. Equally likely to get you 19 or 3 in full PPR. If you have a solid 3 WR lineup throw him in there & see if he hits, won't kill ya if he doesn't.

1 Meredith

2 Kerley

3 Hogan

Is where I am at tonight.
Wasn't able to get any of these 3 in my league, but I did get Robert Woods. Where would you rank him amongst these guys?

What is good value for Doug Martin? What would you offer for him and what would you expect in return?

Edit - posted this in wrong thread, lol. My bad!

He had a dud of a week vs la. But the targets are there. Much like eddie royal we have seen this trick before
Read on ESPN that he would have had a TD, but his feet were out of bounds in the endzone and Tyrod also missed him wide open on a bomb. I know he didn't actually get the points so it's kind of pointless, but if one of those plays happens, his line is much different. Also, the Rams aren't the greatest matchup. Next 2 weeks look great, then hits a tough stretch with NE, SEA and CIN, but after that it is amazing again.

Meridith seems like a Tyrell Williams clone. I drafted Kevin white and he has never had a game like Meridian last week. If he played, even vs the Colts I doubt he would have done this. But if White did the shark pool would all be drooling over him much more than it has for Meridith. I traded away Tyrell Williams for a Te and picked up Meridith to fill his spot.

Miami's cutting of Isaiah Pead told me Foster was close to returning... they may still be a mess, but he's a PPR asset IMO.
Yeah, don't understand holding on to Foster until the week he's set to return. If, and it's a big if, Foster can stay healthy, he's definitely an asset. I'm considering playing him over both Jeffery and T. Benjamin this week.

No Thielen love? Or did I miss it?

Guy looks to have a role in this Offense, with not a ton of competition for targets aside from Diggs.
It's widely considered Thielen only did as well as he did because Diggs was out. It's generally going to be Diggs and Randolph as fantasy relevant on that team and Bradford doesn't throw enough to sustain a third person - especially with Patterson also seeing 6 targets in each of the last two games.

Missed all 3.

:kicksrock:

Looks like my league mates are finally finding their FAAB rhythm (new for our league this year.)

Gonna sit tight & not churn this week. We have a limited number of moves - 32 per season / 4 per week. Will let the roster simmer for a week. Not much out there

FAAB is new for our league this year as well and we are learning our way. One week someone is spending $22 on Tyrod Taylor. Another week I am getting Zach Ertz for $0.

I ended up dropping Kerley for Booker.

Getting our league to adopt this kind of waiver process a few years ago made it much more enjoyable. I'm currently in two leagues, and one of them still does the worst team gets first crack at waivers every single week. I'm probably exiting that league after this season.

So how do you run a FAAB waiver system? Never done it. Might look into it for our league.

Every year, each team gets allotted a certain amount of "money" to spend on waivers each week. We do blind bidding every Wednesday, and you just bid money on the player that you would like to pick up. The team with the highest bid gets the player. After Wednesday waivers, the player pool opens up to free agency until their games start, and then get locked again until the following Wednesday.

My league has a minimum bid or free agency pick-up of $1 and after we spend all of our FAAB money we can't pick anyone up. But, we do allow the trading of money, so if you run out towards the end of the season, you can trade a player(s) to pick up more money.

I like this process since every team has an equal chance of getting the player(s) they want week to week.

Then we have Cutler coming back which might turn into Jeffrey getting 20 targets per game and screw Meredith
I wouldn't necessarily count on that. Hoyer is only the second QB in Bears' history to throw for three consecutive 300 yard games - of course the only other QB that did it did give way to Cutler once he returned from injury. This is a different regime however that seemed tired of Cutler.

McCown 2013? That was an awesome month long run. #championship #notashamed #wwqbsallyear

Definitely a lot of smoke surrounded Cutler this week. CBS reported he's fallen out of favor with the coaching staff, Fox wants less turnovers from the QB position, ESPN regurgitating the Black Unicorn comments he's a baby & not a leader (like this was a secret?)

If Hoyer keeps playing well - unlikely, but he's been very good so far - Jay probably spends his last season in Chicago on the bench. The guarantees have run out on his contract & the Bears look like they're finally ready to move on. Not clear who Plan B is - probably find out in late April at the draft - but sure seems like they're ready to throw in the towel.

Side bar - is anybody rolling with Hoyer as anything more than a bye week filler?

McCown 2013?
Yes. Kind of a sad commentary that two journeyman QBs are the only two QBs in a franchise's history to throw for over 300 yards in three consecutive games.

Of course I follow a team where Ryan Fitzpatrick set the all time record for touchdown passes in a season - so there's that. :P

Is that the record previously held by Vinny Testaverde?

I've got him in two dynasty leagues... grabbed him of the waiver wire.  One as a start-up this year where I bought Stafford as my starter and didn't really invest in a back-up, landing Lynch for $2.  I missed Siemian, but got Hoyer off the wire for a couple bucks in FAAB.  Last week I started him over Stafford with the Colts matchup being great for Hoyer and the Eagles matchup bad for Stafford (on paper).  Turned out to be the right decision in the end, though Stafford did play well.  This week, Stafford gets the Rams while Hoyer draws Jacksonville... not sure which way I'll go.

In the other league, I've got Cousins as my starter and Hoyer (also off the wire) as the backup.  Last week I played Hoyer with Cousins going up against Baltimore, with pre-game reports of 40 MPH wind gusts (though they didn't seem like it to me).  I'll keep evaluating it as we move forward.

I don't think Hoyer is going anywhere... I think I posted it before somewhere, but he reminds me a bit of Jake Delhomme... guy that was always pretty good as a backup whenever he was given the chance, then he becomes the starter and has a solid season.  Has one HORRIFIC playoff game, and everyone's ready to tar and feather him.  Hoyer's rarely going to win a game by himself - that's just not the type of player he is.  But he can produce with talent around him.

I have him in there. Can go Bortles, Hoyer and Mariota is on the wire. I think this is the game when the squeaky wheel (AJ) gets the grease which is common in the NFL. Hoping for a shootout. Still not convinced though but he is just passing it around and they have weapons.

Think he's more than just bye week fill in but a streamer at this point. Started over last week over Matt Ryan in Denver. Unless I grab someone over Hoyer between now and Sunday, likely to start over Ryan again for 1 final week. In 6 pass TD league Hoyer's finished QB11, QB8 and QB6 in his 3 starts.

Outside of the Chicago elements, really couldn't ask for a better ROS schedule for the Chicago QB. Only 1 date with Minnesota on fantasy schedule.

I picked up Hoyer to cover Brees bye with the intention of dropping him this week, now he looks like I'll have to keep him as a decent insurance policy and to keep him away from the competition.

Am I crazy for thinking Tavon Austin is a sneaky play at Flex this week?   I'm thinking about picking him up and starting over Coates (if hes doesn't practice today).
