Week 7 WW Defence (1 Viewer)

I have the Bills currently, but am not too confident in them. My waiver wire is quite thin (and I stupidly dropped the Vikings a couple of weeks ago!) so am searching for an alternative.

Who are people going with this week?

Pats! Dropped the Bucs in 3 leagues and loaded up on the Pars in every league.

Tough week for rent a defense. I'm also taking a shot in Oakland but I'm not happy about it.

Dallas I on my wire. @ car. That's a possibility. They're a "safe" defense in that they don't give up a ton of pts. But they won't get you many pts either

I still have Arizona right now, but I'm not tremendously confident in them. I saw that Bloom is recommending the Bills, but I just don't trust them enough to go with them, especially since the Titans offense is looking a bit stronger with Hasslebeck. The Raiders was another thought of mine, but they have yet to have more than one sack in a game, and even in their best showing of the year, a game where they picked off Matt Ryan three times, they only ended up with 10 total points in my league (only a point less than the Cardinals).

As much as I don't really want to play Arizona again, I think I'll have to stick with them because there just isn't anything that much better on the wire. Plus, they've gotten me a minimum of 6 points, even when they've played relatively poorly.

Curious why they have the Panthers D listed so high this week, as they're sitting on my wire. Skins D against NYG seems intriguing for some reason.

My first gut impulse looking at the schedule was Buffalo. I'm sticking to that. They are strictly a matchup play, but going into their bye at home with the division lead in their sights, they are a great play. Buffalo is cheap/free and will be available because people still remember the beatdowns they suffered to the Pats and Niners. But they responded very well against the Cardinals last week and this week face a toothless Titans team. High floor and high ceiling here imo. Buffalo :thumbup:

Carolina has been pretty solid from a fantasy perspective this year, and the Cowboys turn the ball over a lot. As a Panthers homer, I don't trust them... But I understand the thinking.

Liking what I see in a IND/WAS combo from this point on...matchup wise. Hard to get behind either one of these, but there is potential

My WW defense is super-thin (10 available in a 14 team league).

I'll be rolling with the Bills vs. the Titans. I planned on using the Colts vs. the Browns but after last weeks performance, I'll be dumping them for Buffalo.

As an Indy homer, I'd stay away.

We've got a poor defence at the best of times, but with Redding & Mathis injured we can't get to the QB, and are currently missing Davis who is our best corner. The fact we let the Jets score so many points with their terrible offence should be a warning to all.

GB available in my league. While I like their upcoming matchups (@STL, JAX, ARI) leading into their bye, are they too banged up to trust? Had BUF earlier in the year (going with DTBC recommendation), but hard to trust them just because they performed well against ARI.

Dude, grab Green Bay while you can. They have 3 straight great matchups and if they find their 2011 swagger like they had against Houston on Sunday night, they could be good to have. They are banged up with injuries, but Aaron Rodgers seems to be in full go-for-the-jugular mode, and that could lead to some sloppy second half turnovers and easy defensive points.

Oh, be sure to check that someone didn't drop Chicago or Seattle due to the bye/matchup last week. Happened with SEA in one of my leagues.

I grabbed NE in a handful of leagues last week expecting Wilson to #### the bed, oh well. At least I get to hold for another "plus match up".

MIN was on my WW in my 10-teamer, I dropped NE for them.

I'm going with DAL in one league because I essentially have no choice. I'm open to swapping for another DST with a higher ceiling later in the week, though. I think CAR might have actually improved during the bye.

I'd grab the Bills and hold. Look at their remaining schedule:

TEN - Yes

BYE

@HOU - No

@NE - No

MIA - Yes

@IND - Yes

JAC - Yes

STL - Yes

SEA - Yes

@MIA - Yes

New England's schedule is pretty good as well but I imagine they are not on the waivers in as many leagues.

im not sure why carolina is so high ranked either :confused:
Dallas w/out MurrayAnother road gamePanthers coming off the byeRomo has been known to be ... erratic. Makes Carolina an intriguing option. ,. can't get behind a "high" ranking; but I could see a respectable effort.

I have Baltimore, but picked up Oakland this week. Need to see how the Ravens play this week to get an idea if I want to keep them or drop them. Those injuries just might kill them as a top fantasy D/ST. Need to see how Suggs does coming back from injury.

I like the Raiders this week. The Jaguars looked awful at home two weeks ago against the Bears, and I don't really see it getting any better for them on the road in the black hole.

Currently have PIT, but don't know if I want to trust them, though their matchup this week (@CIN) is favorable. NE is available. Would you drop PIT for NE?

I couldn't get the Packers Defense so I picked up the Raiders. Blaine Gabbert, I will feast on your flesh!

I'm giving the Browns a shot this week. Defense has looked better with Joe Haden back and they're always among league leaders in INT's every season.

The Raiders are so tempting, but I keep going back to the fact that they have only had 4 sacks the entire season. It always hurts to not get those extra points for sacks. Granted, it will probably be a relatively low scoring game, so that helps...but you'll mostly be relying on Oakland getting turnovers.

My gut says to pick them up and play them over the Cardinals defense, but my brain has me sticking with Arizona...for now.

I second this. Gonna have to roll with ARI again. While I'm worried about potential pick 6's from Skelton, I'm not sure I trust the other shakey DEFs out on the wire more than the Cardinals at this point.

I'm in the exact same situation. I feel like the Raiders should destroy the Jags, but I really don't like relying on TOs.

From the trash I have to sort through...

1.BUF

2.CAR

3.DAL

4.IND

Staying away from Arizona and Cleveland, I have more confidence in Jacksonville getting healthy offensively than the Raiders being worthy of a start

The Packers are a great play this week if available(should be owned or already claimed though). Others that could be available in some leagues:

1. Patriots

2. Cowboys

3. Bills

4. Lions

I got Raiders DST this week and don't feel good about it. Tried this last year when they had some good home matchups.

It just seems like you have to actually have some good playmakers on DST to put up points. Just playing a sorry team at home when your own defense is sorry doesn't cut it.

I expect 1 INT, 2 sacks, no special teams scores, and 19 points allowed.

Bills - maybe, just maybe, and they look poised to play well in front of teh home crowd. You can do it, Bills.

Then Skins - hey, they're coming on and they have scored well against good teams

Then Raiders - they *were looking good against the Falcons, but the bottom line is they're a bad scoring defense with no "up" games, and in my experience relying on those types to come up with a big game out of nowhere rarely generates success

- Flyer alert: The Saints, they had a decent game against the Chiefs (hey a good matchup is a good matchup), and they actually put up decent DST points on the Chargers, and they are getting some (uhm, wow) sacks and three straight games with picks. The Bucs' O? Meh.

I actually Like the Cowboys for this week.

Out of the rest of the WW calibers mentioned.

We'll see how it works..

I went with my gut and took the 4th worst scoring D, in DETROIT, lol! Granted, they already had their bye but still. I expect them to ride some momentum of that comeback win in Philly (off the bye) and take it to Cutler on Monday night. Hoping for fumble return or pick 6 (although they don't pick off many passes). They do a decent job getting to the QB and should be amped and fresh for the big matchup on national TV. Also like their matchups after this, lots of young QBs. Wilson, Ponder and Gabbert. FBGs doesn't suggest any of those matchups to be very good but I like going against young QBs with a boy named Suh, and co, and will take my chances. They are due for their first D/ST TD of the year, I hope. And the O can put up some points so maybe a blowout or two will help things...

Oakland was out there, btw, but I just couldn't pull the trigger with only 4 sacks on the year staring at me...and a crap team. Not much there, so what the hell, we'll see if Detroit can get on a little roll here.

I think that's a bad idea. Call it a hunch, but I think Carolina will retool their offense to get back to the basics and stop trying to be so cute with their playcalling during the bye week.

Titans have been outscored 106-31 on the road this season in 3 blowout losses...

I have the craptastic options of:

OAK

DET

CAR

CLE

I'm thinking of rolling with OAK though. anyone think DET (even if they get lit up) will get enough sacks & turnovers to make them a better start than OAK?
