Week 8 Suicide Pick Strategy (1 Viewer)

Congrats to those still alive in their polls, but this is where it starts to really get tough. What are the early picks looking like for week 8? I'm liking the Jets at home against Kansas City A LOT this week. With Buffalo and New England both winning, this is almost a must have for the Jets. Brett Favre vs Tyler Thigpen?!? I'll take Brett at home. LJ will possibly be suspended and out as well. If not the Jets, what are some other options? Houston at home vs Cincy doesn't look bad, but every week seems like the week CJ and TJ could go off and pull out a win so that game scares me a little. Discuss.

Baltimore hosting Oakland? I'm not all that comfortable with it but I'm somewhat limited. I've been trying to stay away from picking road teams so Washington scares me.

I'm actually looking at 5, count 'em 5 games

all home picks.....

Baltimore over Oakland

Ravens are clearly better BUT they could dominate on the field without it reflecting in the score

Flacco has played well for a rookie, but he is a rookie. This could be a nervous three hours.

Jets over KC

Jets were 33-242 rushing vs Oakland, KC's run D is even worse. Will Farve be content to hand off?

NE over St Lou

Three weeks ago, this was my choice. Hazlett clearly has jump started something.

PHI over the Falcons

Atlanta's not really a 4-2 team. Are they?

JAX over Cleveland

The talent difference isn't as pronounced as the other games, but other than the Browns win over NYG, these teams have been performing at their respective levels more consistantly

Detroit has shown troubling signs of life on the road recently, I still think there a safe win vs them on the road but I think they will win as a home dog somewhere along the way. Orlovsky is a decent prospect, and is bound to improve now that he's starting.

My strategy is to monitor the FBG suicide Pool and play a team amongst the five mentioned that isn't getting a lot of play in my MarchPool.

If LJ is suspended i think the Jets will be a very popular choice. Otherwise i could see LJ doing very well. The Cheifs can stay in games against teams with weak run offenses; which i thought the Jets were until last week when they ran all over the Raiders. Huard is questionable against for the game, which is something to look out for.

If both Huard and LJ are playing i'll likely stay away, but if Thigpen and Kolby Smith/ Jamaal Charles are starting than i dont know how i could go against the Jets.

Agreed about the Jets. I am staying away from the Skins this weekend; Detroit has looked capable against decent teams recently (pass D showing up against the vikes, and then their late charge against Houston on Sunday). I never like picking against pissed off winless teams at home midseason.Have to capitalize against the Chiefs while LJ is out... and it sounds like he might be on Sunday again...
