Week 9 Waiver Wire (1 Viewer)

Right now it looks like it -- I dropped JC for him and only have Rawls, D. Henry and Powell -- Powell worked out last week, but seems Seattle might lean on Prosise more --Want to hear more about D. Murray too -- Henry is an option as well --
Wow we have a similar rb situation.  start 2 rbs ppr.

Got ware, ingram.   gio and j. white on bye. got henry and dixon on bench.  thinking about picking up prosise. want to hear about wests injury as well but henry could be a decent play even if murray plays

Dixon is available; may have to go grab him --I'm a Ravens fan, so skeptical about him and how this whole team is functioning right now.  Cant get any worse than last week with 6 yards rushing.

White was dropped (very short benches... and an idiot) for Sproles this morning, I have Lewis warming up, obvious pick up for me (though 2 days waivers and probably won't get him)... I'd have to drop Snead anyway.

Rankings are real high on Ripkowski. I'm guessing everyone just assumes he has a good chance of plunging one in at the goal line?  Just can't get behind that play with Rodgers throwing it so much as of late.

Only way i play dixon this week is if west is hurt or I hear dixon is starting

Don Jackson is JAG. Montgomery is still questionable and who knows if he plays. It is very possible they go into this game with Ripkowski and Jackson.

I've been real high on Ripkowski on numerous threads. He is looking great. He isn't a fantasy stud. He will get the goal line carries, but RBs haven't had many opportunities for GB this year. He's someone who is fun to watch in real life but not really a fantasy option at this point at least.

Perkins becoming startable relies on:

  • Jennings being phased out
  • Darkwa being phased out
  • Rainey being phased out
  • Giants' run blocking improving
  • Game scripts going in the right direction
  • Eli not killing them with turnovers
Kinda seems like a lot to expect.
Well, the Giants beat reporter seems to believe that Perkins role will begin to increase out of the bye.  Jennings flat out sucks.  He can't find the open hole and just plods into the line.  Darkwa?  Like someone already stated, he has his chance.  Perkins out snapped Darkwa 15-0 their last game.  Rainey is NOT a between the tackles runner.  He does have great hands, but IMHO, so does Perkins.  If Perkins showed that he has improved in pass protection, I can see him being the featured back sooner than later.

Yeah, I would never play him this week.  Just stashing if he goes off --and its possible  --Harbaugh has to be getting heat with this offensive performance so far --and Steelers have been kind to RB's

I don't want to touch that dumpster fire... what is it now, a RBBC of 5? Perkins may emerge by week 16 but if you're still playing then you probably have a better option at RB.

Perkins won't be saving anyone's season unless the Giants commit to him.

Stranger things have happened.

Looks to me like all the big RB adds are 1 week plays and risky at that. I like the idea of adding Perkins but as a life long fan I'm fairly positive they will underuse him for way too long. They'd rather trot out some near retirees who have 0 chance of breaking a big play. If you have the room and don't see anything better, he's probably worth a stash for a couple weeks to see if his usage increases. He needs to do a ton with his limited carries to earn significant time.
I hear this refrain all the time. I get it why people feel that way but they make these decisions for a reason and they're correct.  They aren't playing fantasy football and the "near retiree veteran" can also be trusted far more than the rookie to not do something stupid. Missing a blitz pickup and getting your quarterback injured is also a big play.

Stranger things have happened.
I think Perkins is more of someone we should all consider for next season. Especially in leagues that do weighted keepers. Perkins is someone you can keep for a very low draft pick. I am not really sure he emerges as a fantasy relevant RB this season. You're right, stranger things have happened but unless Darkwa, Jennings get hurt I'm not sure there is a whole lot there for him to emerge this season

I believe Darkwa is an afterthought.  Perkins even out snapped him 15-0 against the Rams.  Although, I agree with you about holding him in keeper/dynasty formats.  If you have room on your roster and like the idea of a potential RB lotto ticket , then hold onto him.

The thing about Perkins is I don't trust the NYG coaching staff to commit to him even if he did explode. Somehow they'll limp into the playoffs and figure it out there and be competitive.

Yeah idk how to read this anymore.  Montgomery is a play when he's healthy... but his backup?  Is it Ripkowski or Jackson?  Well usage last week with both healthy suggests Ripkowski is a better bet than Jackson, no?

Is quizz safe to drop? Or are people holding based on Doug still being unknown?
I dropped. Foot injuries always linger and often end with a trip to IR. Add in Martin's eventual comeback and I don't see him having a ton of value ROS.

I'm not starting either of them, but if you're desperate, this is the week to start a GB RB. Indy has the worst run D this side of SF.

I kinda would love to see GB just give Ripkowski 20 carries and bludgeon the Colts... Rip is 6'1" 246lbs and is averaging 4.9 YPC.

ETA -- just looked into this... Ripkowski got 4 of his 6 carries on Green Bay's next to last drive when they took 8:33 off the clock and scored the go-ahead TD with 4 mins left in the game... I'm not sure Knile or Jackson even set foot on the field that drive.  Obviously the final drive where GB had 30 seconds to try to get in FG range, they threw the ball every play.  The next day they cut Knile.

I'm the only one on here pimping Ripkowski to some degree. He's someone to keep an eye on. Mike Alstott type player (Alstott was 6'1, 247). I think he's a beast and will have an important role in the GB offense. Fantasy relevance is only there if Montgomery doesn't go or gets significantly hurt; if Montgomery is out this week I'd advise to strongly consider starting Ripkowski if you're in a bind

Yeah, he could have Asiata-level upside. But I suspect he's more of a poor man's Kuhn. You're basically counting on him to punch one in.

Again, I wouldn't necessarily recommend him or DJax. But as far as fliers go, you could do worse.

Yeah I agree as to his role being a growing one and an important one for GB.  I almost see him as the Montgomery complement and handcuff in a way, and the best bet of the RBs for a TD.  With bye Armageddon at RB for me, I may end up running Ripkowski out there.

Reports are Starks practicing in limited fashion today. Unimpressive pre-injury but should get back soon and I would think stands to be the #1 RB for GB upon return. Thoughts on when he returns to the game field and his fantasy value?

If he comes back unhampered from injury, I think he has mid-RB2 value with a low ceiling. They'll still run a committee situation, but I think Starks is the most talented of the 3-4 backs they're using and should end up with 40-50% of carries.

Disagree here big time, but I agree that Starks might have low to mid RB2 value if he can be "the guy"

IMO Ripkowski is the most talented RB that they have this season as far as running the ball goes

Remind me again what his injury was. PCL sprain?

Meniscus surgery
Right, I knew that. Trying to remember any other RBs coming back mid-season from a meniscus cleanup. My (totally unsupported) guess is that they wait until he's back at full strength and then throw him back in with a relatively full workload, with Ty holding down the passing-back role (which is not necessarily limited to third down).

Starks should get the lion's share of the carries when he is back. He is not very good though so I would expect that ship to sail after about 2 weeks of seeing 2.0 YPC and they will get Ripkowski more involved and/or Montgomery

mcarthy is a stubborn dude, I think if Starks is healthy, he will be the guy, he likes him.
As a former Lacy owner, this is why I think it doesn't matter who steps in as RB.

Lacy's 5.1 ypc was cool, but 0 Tds and only one week of double-digit FF points.  Will Starks do better?

Apart from the appeal of the WR scat back, do you think MM will use his RB differently in the second half of the season?

If you're in a pinch and need to swing for the fences take a look at Stills this week. He's been seeing more snaps lately as the expense of Parker and the following are the lines put up vs. NYJ by WRs..

Green - 12/180/1

Goodwin - 2/112/1

Coates - 6/139/2

Wallace - 10/120/0

Pryor - 6/101/0

You'll notice that they're all burners.

Gold. I did this very move with the same thoughts on Jet's D. Nobody else bid on him and he cost me zero. I feel better about him than most of the other WW fodder.

Great data that confirms the eye test that the Jets have been getting burned deep all year. I picked him up, although as of now he's on the bench for Coleman. I'm a heavy favorite, so I want a higher floor guy. But if Montgomery sits again, I'll fire him up.

Ugh, if those are your two options you're in a world of hurting.

I like Smith more this week but think Hightower has more ceiling rest of season.
Yes I am due to Miller, AJ Green, Reed, Thompson on a bye .. missing Charles, Rawls and Quizz to injury

Starting Ben or Stafford, Bell, Crowell, Dez, Doyle and either Smith or Hightower...8-0 so bad week but good year going.

Nick Foles is starting at qb for kc. To me that means tyreek hill is a must start.  It's clear they have chemistry together and he targeted hill 6 times last week.  Expect that to continue.

My Stills call may not pan out due to projected wind speeds in MIA. I'm seeing 20mph winds so if you picked him up keep an eye on the weather.

Tyrell Williams sat out again today due to his knee injury. He hurt it in the ATL game is definitely not right, it was blatantly obvious last week vs. DEN. I have a really hard time not seeing Inman have a solid game this week. There's just no one left to pass to.

Love the call on Stills, but also good call on weather. Though you never know until the games start what the true weather impact will be.

Other hail marys at WR I've been contemplating are Austin (likely rostered in deeper leagues), Quick, and Britt -- Case Keenum is not the most reliable, but the CAR secondary getting burned through the air most definitely is. One or more of these guys is likely in for a big day.

Also was eyeing Dontrelle Inman. Benjamin is a little dinged, which may make open up opportunity for Inman on the other side. Gates and Tyrell Williams likely to get theirs, but think there will be plenty to go around against a TEN D that is in the bottom quarter of the league in terms of points/yards allowed to WRs.

New Player Note Thu, Nov 3

Updating an earlier item, Tyrell Williams (knee) was officially "limited" in Thursday's practice.

Advice: As was Travis Benjamin (knee). Neither player was spotted by the media, but evidently got in some work during the closed portion of practice. It's similar to what Williams did last week before suiting up. He should be considered a go for Week 9. Benjamin's status is hazier.

If you have the spot and the original owner dropped him. Sammy Watkins. I'm going to try and grab him next week on his bye, he is out of the walking boot and the Bills are aiming for a week 12 return. If I had the room this week I would pick him up now while he is free.

I was thinking the same but it's still the same Bills and he'd be taking up a roster spot for at least 4 weeks.

My mistake, still like Inman and Gates.

Janis with Cobb out?
With Cobb out last week Janis played on 94% of the snaps and saw 4 targets. Davis played on 58% and saw 4 targets. Janis seems like the safer bet.
