Weis' effect on KC offense? (1 Viewer)

Am I the only one that thinks KC players should be slightly downgraded because of Weis?

The offense last year still had a lot of Chan Gailey influence. As we should know, the offense has the ability to feature a single player. Last year, that was Jamaal Charles.

Now Weis' system, on the other hand, historically spreads the ball around more. It uses smash mouth elements in the run game, to control the clock. It also does not use RBs as receivers very often.

In 5 seasons as the Patriots OC, Charlie Weis had 2 seasons with a 1000 yd rusher, and one season with a 1000 yd receiver.

Does anyone believe that Weis will be the same OC he was in NE, or do you expect him to feature certain players?

I would suspect that he tailors the offense to the weapons he has in KC as opposed to trying to mimick what he did in New England. What I would be most concerned with about Weis is that he has been out of the NFL for several years so his feel for what NFL defenses are doing these days is stale.

I think he will tailor the offense. But looking at that team, there are many weapons. You know Thomas Jones is going to get some carries, in addition to Jamaal Charles of course. You also have Dexter McCluster, Dwayne Bowe, etc. I think there is more talent at the skill positions than people realize. Certainly enough that Weis won't necessarily feed Charles the ball 20+ times per game.
