From my contacts, the odds are still that he starts the regular season on the regular season PUP list and will miss the first 6 weeks.

Just heard from a reliable source that Wes Welker WILL NOT be on the preseason PUP list and will be an active participant in training camp.

It just amazes me almost to the point of annoyance how many people (incl. media outlets and personnel) are continually attempting to 'downplay' what is in play here. We are talking about a complete ACL tear a little over 6 months removed from the incident. Please stop the nonsensical optimism here as nobody should be expecting, or even holding out much hope, that Welker will be ready to go to start the season. This isn't the YMCA beer buddies league here, it is the full-throttle, intense and physical, NFL. Please stop the madness, the Pats are sandbagging here, Welker will start the season on the PUP.
