I think he'll be a Questionable for Week 1 come Friday. The really question is whether he practices at all tomorrow. As far as I know, and I've searched for stories, he hasn't practiced for a few weeks.Welker is officially listed as probable (shoulder) for weeks 1 - 17
I opened this thread hoping you'd have a response here. Thanks. Would they play Welker if he wasn't able to take his expected workload, or does his availability mean we can expect his normal production?I expect Welker to play Week 1. He was in uniform and was fielding punt returns in warm ups prior to the Giants game in the 4th preseason game.
The Patriots are capable of anything. Maroney often played in a limited fashion the past two years when he was hampered by injuries. I think just having Welker on the field even if it is mostly as a decoy would help open other things up.Of course Welker could be 100% fine. Or he could miss a few weeks. With NE you never know. Their injury reports are of little help except at least they tell you if a player practiced at all. I imagine Welker will be listed as having taken limited practice reps in the first report. But at least it should vaguely indicate the nature of the injury. The other thing that concerns me about this injury(whatever it is) is that it appears he tried to return from it once but suffered some sort of setback in the 2nd exhibition game. He missed the first game with an undisclosed injury and some practices the 2nd week of preseason. He returned to practice and made one catch in the 2nd preseason game and then he has been shutdown since.I opened this thread hoping you'd have a response here. Thanks. I believe the returners to start the season will be Edelman as PR and Maroney as KR. Depending how things go will determine if they stay as such.Since we don't get pts for return yds in my league, I was really hoping they'd hand punt return duties to Edelman.....still hope they do
No injury reports were filed for the Monday Night teams, so I'm guessing they get an extra day to report to the league.Any practice updates on ol Welker? Im scared. Hold me
Welker could be dead or in prime form and still be listed as questionable in the BB injury report. In my opinion, this is an impossible question to answer.Any homer with update ?
IIRC, the probable shoulder injury reporting went on for four or five years. If Welker is not even on the injury report, he's going to play. But let's see what they classify him as for Week 1.The injury report means nothing in New England. If a player sneezes during the week, he's listed as questionable on the injury report. If I remembercorrectly, Brady was listed on the injury report two years ago as questionable for almost the entire season and started every game.
Deciphering what NE injuries are is not rocket science and I have been translating what they have done for several years now. Clearly the Pats themselves aren't going to say anything with any relevance, so don't bother looking to what they say as evidence of anything.Welker could be dead or in prime form and still be listed as questionable in the BB injury report. I agree that New England doesn't leave people off the injury list that are actually hurt because then the NFL could come down on them for not reporting aninjury. Instead they muddy the water by listing players on the list that are not as "injured" as the report says in order to not give information to the opposingteam. I'm not saying they are the only ones that do that, but they do it often.IIRC, the probable shoulder injury reporting went on for four or five years. If Welker is not even on the injury report, he's going to play. Knee, huh? Well, I'm guessing that could be a cue that Edelman will be returning punts. If Welker doesn't go on MNF, you're right...not many of us will have other options (at least palatable ones)OK, we at least learned something today. Welker was officially listed as Limited Participation in Practice (Knee) in the first injury of the week for the Pats this week.I'm still hearing he should play Monday, but that's still a few days away. I realize people will have few options if they have to wait until Monday. Will follow up with info as I hear it.
Slight change of subject -- what did that even accomplish for Belichik? Why didn't he list Brady as doubtful with a shoulder every week?IIRC, the probable shoulder injury reporting went on for four or five years.
According to lore, the Brady Probable thing was BB giving the league the middle finger for an intrusion in his bitness. Dude's a gansta.Slight change of subject -- what did that even accomplish for Belichik? Because there are actual rules on this sort of think. IIRC, probably = 75% chance to play, questionable = 50% chance to play, doubtful = 25% chance to play. I believe the league monitors how much the players play at the injury levels they are listed at and teams have to be close overall across a long time frame. I believe teams will be nudged to be accurate, but I am not sure what the penalty would be if a team were way off.Slight change of subject -- what did that even accomplish for Belichik? I don't think the Hoodie would have cut Greg Lewis if he was concerned about Wes Welker heading into week 1.![]()
Why? They still have 5 wideouts on their roster and they use their TE's quite a bit. A lot of teams only carry 4 Wideouts. Also Faulk could be used as a wideout in a pinch if they want to go 5 wide.At least we now know it is a knee injury. I suspect he'll play but that doesn't mean he'll be 100% and they may use Galloway more than they would if Welker were completely healthy.StackTheLine said:I don't think the Hoodie would have cut Greg Lewis if he was concerned about Wes Welker heading into week 1.![]()

OK ... but what did feigning a Brady shouder injury accomplish? How did Belichik think his team benefitted? Did he really think every opponent was prepping for Brady's backup somehow? Maybe the first few times, but for years?Because there are actual rules on this sort of think. IIRC, probably = 75% chance to play, questionable = 50% chance to play, doubtful = 25% chance to play. It's Belichick tweaking the league for past injury report issues that have occurred.LinkOK ... but what did feigning a Brady shouder injury accomplish? How did Belichik think his team benefitted? Who the heck knows? If anyone knew anything further, it would have been posted.I saw the knee report on Rotoworld.... the start of a wonderful season of Patriots injury reports.... do I plug in A. Gonz instead of Welker (P. Manning is my QB)?
I asked for a Friday afternoon practice best guess estimate: Welker 85% chance to play on MNF.Any homer with update ?

In general, it's a pretty good idea to go with Yudkin on any and all things Patriot related. You asked who?I asked for a Friday afternoon practice best guess estimate: Welker 85% chance to play on MNF.Any homer with update ?
I dont want to turn this into a WDIS, I'm just thinking if you are waiting on WElker then you are going to be limited to a Patriot, Charger, Raider, or Bills.Any other options ?In the event that Welker cannot play, would you feel confident about Galloway instead? Errrrrrrr....
