Wes Welker (1 Viewer)

In the event that Welker cannot play, would you feel confident about Galloway instead? Errrrrrrr....
Any other options ?
I don't want to turn this into a WDIS, I'm just thinking if you are waiting on WElker then you are going to be limited to a Patriot, Charger, Raider, or Bills.
Yep. That is the tough part. And someone who didn't get drafted unless you happen to have one of those on your roster.I will probably sit him for a Sunday player and avoid the aggravation.

Welker is officially listed as probable (shoulder) for weeks 1 - 17
I think he'll be a Questionable for Week 1 ...
He is indeed Questionable for Week#1 after his 3rd straight Limited practice on Saturday. My guess is that he'll play but one has to wonder if this is something that is going to hamper his production for a while. We'll just have to wait until Monday night I guess.

Question for Yudkin:

You said 85% likelihood to play on Friday, but today was listed as Questionable, which means 50%. Change in circumstances, or gamesmanship by the Pats?

Obvoiusly, you know that as a MNF game, hard for people to sub out for Welker after Sunday. What would you do if you had Welker and your other option was a weak WR3 type?

Thanks,

Going to be a tough call for some people tomorrow.

Patriots | Welker limited during Saturday practice Sat Sep 12, 04:43 PMPatriots.com reports New England Patriots WR Wes Welker (knee) was limited during practice Saturday, Sept. 12, and has been listed as questionable for Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills.

Given the uncertainty involved with not only whether he'll play but if he does play how effective he'll be I'd probably go with other options if you have them. Of course it depends what your other options are. My hunch is he'll play but he isn't 100%. So I'd peg him down for 50 yards and no TDs at this point. Like I mentioned in the sleeper WR thread I think a guy that is available as a free agent in most leagues (Laurent Robinson of the Rams) is a better one week play right now. Welker could go off and get 150 yards of course but if I had both on my roster I'd start Robinson this week.

If Yudkin says he's a go, I'll go with him. My other option is Ginn. My original plan was to sub out Welker for Zach Miller on Monday, but I may need to use both Ginn and Miller to replace Boldin and Welker. It's week 1 - shouldn't everyone be healthy???

Welker has been taking it easy for weeks. If he doesn't play or hardly plays at all he has a much bigger problem than they have let on. I'm still thinking he will play, but he hasn't done great against BUF (see earlier post). Moss has been the one with the big numbers against the Bills. I'd guess 5 catches for 50 something yards and no TD for Welker.

85% probability of playing was what someone relayed to me, and I really don't think anything changed at all this week to make Welker less likely to play. The Pats listing him as questionable wouldn't sway his likelihood to actually play in my book. BTW, Edelman was also listed as questionable, and I doubt the only guys they suit up will be Moss and Galloway.

As a general rule, if a guy practices consistently during the week, the Pats will have him playing that week and if a guy sits the whole week he won't play. Everyone practiced this week, so IMO they should all be ready to go.

If the game were early Sunday I could probably find out more before people had to submit lineupes. If folks have other decent options and have to submit a lineup at some point tomorrow, you may want to put someone else in. I have that problem with Boldin.

That's exactly what I've chosen to do (start 3 WR league). I have Robinson in my lineup, not cuz I want to , but I just can't chance a ZERO from Welker Monday night since I have no other Monday night options. Fingers crossed...

Any homer with update ?
I asked for a Friday afternoon practice best guess estimate: Welker 85% chance to play on MNF.
You asked who?
In general, it's a pretty good idea to go with Yudkin on any and all things Patriot related.
VERY aware of this. I was curious just cuz of the way he phrased it.
Since heard again that he should be in the lineup tomorrow.
