Wesley Woodyard moved to MLB Stewart Bradley Surgery (1 Viewer)

(RotoWire)Bradley will undergo surgery on his left wrist that will sideline him for several weeks, the Denver Post reports.

Analysis: Bradley was in line to work as the Broncos' starting middle linebacker, but thanks to his injury, the team plans to move Wesley Woodyard from the weak side to the middle, while bumping Danny Trevathan to the starting weakside linebacker role.

what happened to Nate Irving?
In my mind it's all about how your skills translate to the football field. Irving's haven't to date. I don't expect that to change. I'm not at all surprised he's not in the starting lineup.

It should be a decent boost to Woodyard's value though. Trevathan looks the part to me. I think he's going to surprise a lot of people.

he's projected to start at sam assuming Miller is suspended and he's made some plays in the run game in the 1st 2 preseason games. He was practicing at mike during TC until right before the SF game. He could certainly move back to mike once Miller is back in the fold.

As for now, Denver moved Woodyard to mike and is going to start Trevathan (who could be a tackling machine) at will and Irving at sam (assuming Von is suspended). The Broncos signed mike Paris Lenon today, but that's likely a depth move.

As for 3 down LBs, Woodyard and Trevathan both look like they will be at least in the near future. Nickle packages this year and last have included both and both those players are probably the best coverage LBs Denver has. Not sure if the Broncos plan to keep Irving in on 3rd downs. They typically move Von to DE on those downs. I'd assume they don't and probably substitute Shaun Phillips or another pass-rushing DE in nickle situations.

This is a very good breakdown of this situation and exactly how I see it as well. Hoping we are right as I have Woodyard and Trevathan. :hifive:

What will be the rotation be once von is back? Still trevathon@wlb woodyard@mlb and von@slb?
probably

Chris Harris told me that one of the reasons Wood is starting at Mike is cause Trevathan has been so good, they had to get him on the field
