Westboro Baptist Church (1 Viewer)

JFC.

one day, and i'm guessing sooner than later, these Westboro folks are going to run into some people who don't take kindly to their message. and it's not going to end well.

It sucks that there are Christians who have such misconceptions about God. God is not a God of condemnation, but one of love.

These are Muslims right? It sucks that there are Christians who have such misconceptions about God. God is not a God of condemnation, but one of love.
There is something very wrong with you.
Sorry. I did erase that. But it is a major difference on how God should be viewed by Christians, unfortunately even many Christians still see God as a condemning God.

It was inappropriate to say, but it is still true. A very large number of Muslims hate western culture and do wish evil on us. Their religion centers around strict adherence to rules and severe punishment for those who do not follow.

Congrats...you've reached an even lower level than was thought possible.

It is still true that the Westboro Baptist Church members are Muslim?

This is mid-game for jon_troll. He will go lower when called upon.

Westboro will picket Sandy Hook Elementary School to sing praise to God for the glory of his work in executing his judgment.

F'ing disgusting. This group needs to be stopped. In other countries their heads would be on pikes :hot:
Yes they are disgusting but remember in many other countries gays and a lot of women would also have their heads on pikes. That's what makes the US special, we have rights even in ideas that most people find abhorrent. I do find it rather disturbing that after the massacre that happened Friday that some people think it would be okay for the Secret Service to murder them.

All they want is attention. If everyone ignored them they'd go away. But it's so hard not to want to smash their faces in.

What a horrible, embarrassing thing to say. Even for you. Your level of ignorance and lack of compassion are disturbing.
I know, I erased it as soon as I posted it. But I do have issues with groups and people, including Christians like Huckabee who view God as one who condemns. The should not be Christian thinking.

:lmao: Way to go Jonnay! You're definitely shedding that long held Islamaphobe reputation of yours. Defintiely a  Christian you are!

What a ridiculous person you are. And yet you still try to dig deeper by "backing up your claim" and trying to high horse those "judgmental Christians" when you've just proven (yet again) how low of a horse you really ride.

I will stop. It was Inappropriate and I am sorry.

You actually think these whackjobs are Christians simply because they call themselves that?
What defines a Christian that makes them not Christian? Some born agains think Catholics aren't Christian, so clearly the meaning is vague. Shouldn't the definition simply be those who believe Jesus was the son of god?

It is a bit more complex. You need to understand the forgiveness and love of Jesus and the righteousness which He provides. Too many Christians have one foot stuck in the law and another foot on grace and they confuse the good news which Christ brought

If a person does anything wrong, they are instantly not christian. Up until that point, they are.

Can you be more specific about your statement of "understanding..."? This sounds like a code word for born again.

Believe is a better word. You must believe that Christ is your Savior. It was not a code word

I actually have more anger towards these people than I do the killer.

Yeah, this made me chuckle.jon - I don't give a #### if you apologized. You showed your true colors yet again.

Sorry, you must've missed the first half of the thread and jon's long history of Islamaphobia.
After reading the thread about the school shooting it just reinforces the fact you are not bright.
:lmao:eta: you must be referring to when I greatly disagreed with CE supporting Huckabee's comments. You know, the ones that he (CE) recanted and condemned after many others did the same. Clearly, I am the not-bright one.

Copied this over from the other WBC thread on page 2:

Commentary | The hacking collective known as Anonymous renewed their war on the Westboro Baptist Church today. After the haters in the infamous church posted their intentions to picket the funerals of the twenty children killed in the shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School, Anonymous responded by re-posting the personal and professional information for members of the church on the internet. Now the general public can contact the church members directly and tell them what they think about people who would desecrate the funerals of murdered children.

Westboro Baptist Church has been irritating Americans for years with venom filled message about their demented version of God. According to the many closely related and intermarried members of the Phelps family who make up the majority of the membership of the so-called church, God enjoys killing children and soldiers. They constantly proclaim God hates homosexuals and plans to destroy America for not following the Westboro Baptist Churches version of Christianity. The incredible obsession with homosexuality expressed by Fred and family seems to many as a sure fire case of “thou dost protest too much.”

Anonymous has been after the Westboro Baptist Church for several months now, hacking their websites repeatedly. At one point, Anonymous accused the church of posting a fake threat from the hacking group. They claimed WBC created the letter in order to trick other hackers into attacking the website so the church could harvest internet addresses and sue people. Suing people is apparently the primary activity of the Westboro Baptist Church when they aren’t screaming hate at funerals.

Of course, Westboro denied the charges and taunted Anonymous as incompetent hackers. They claimed their website was protected by God. Big mistake. A few days later, while a Westboro spokeswoman was boasting about how the church foiled Anonymous on a radio talk show, an Anonymous spokesman called in and hacked the church’s website in real time on the air.

Hopefully saner heads will prevail and nothing terrible will occur if Westboro Baptist Church shows up in Newtown , Connecticut. The State Police made the extraordinary decision to assign a trooper to each of the victim’s families to keep away unwelcome attention and protect their privacy. Hopefully this will give them some small amount of peace in their time of grief and suffering.

It is hard to imagine what kind of person would show up at the funerals for these children and promote the hate filled message of the Phelps family and their followers. While we certainly do not condone illegal activity, it is hard not to root for Anonymous as they take it to these sad, pathetic excuses for human beings from the Westboro Baptist Church. If the Church’s website is offline forever, it wouldn’t be a moment too soon for sane human beings.

The Toronto radio station I listen to had one of the Phelps kids on (Shirley's brother, not sure if there is more than one) this morning. They often bring them on the radio and basically try to strike a deal with them in order to get them to not protest certain events - they gave Shirley a lot of air time - it is a huge alt rock radio station, CFNY - in the wake of the Tucson shooting in exchange for some peace. I don't know how it turned out this morning, the host said he had a great deal for their church but needed to talk to a decision-maker and not this schlub they were talking to.

If we insist on giving one sentence answers to questions like this then the answer would be "Those who follow Jesus' teachings and model their lives after his the best they can"

There are as many definitions as people who reply. It changes both due to interpretation and convenience, but also in response to tragedies to make sure you don't include the wrong doers.I think this is the third version given in this thread. But we've done this before.
