I can't help but picture Anonymous as a bunch of Warcraft playing geeks-- am I totally off here? I'm not doubting their work-- it's impressive-- but just trying to wrap my head around their group.

Probably about right. I hope they have something more up their sleeve than hacking their website and publishing their personal info on the web. Their site is probably so bad you couldn't tell if it was hacked or not, and you can't shame these people. They beg for attention. Giving them more isn't going to hurt them. Other than lighting them on fire I don't see much that can be done to these folks.

UPDATED: I’m all too gleefully happy to report that Cosmo The God, hacking prodigy and my new favorite person on earth today, has hacked the Twitter account of Dear Shirley, who is the spokesperson for the Westboro Baptist Church. Not only has Cosmo redecorated the Twitter background of the Dear Shirley account to read “Pray For Newtown” instead of “God Hates ####”, but Cosmo has been tweeting messages of love and support to the families in Newtown and updates about the petition to have the WBC classified as a hate group. Even though I can’t condone illegal activity ( I have kids who read my articles, ya know) on the day when parents are starting to bury their children who died after this horrible tragedy, it brings joy to so many of us that a group such as the WBC can have their hate-mongering agenda switched from messages of intolerance and bigotry to one of love and support to everyone affected by this awful event.

Use their personal info to ruin all of their credit

Get the IRS after them for tax evasion

Get their church denounced as a non-profit

Anonymous has them tracked to this motel 6 in Connecticut, but there are also 4 cops there.I do believe they will meet their match with Anonymous. In two short days, with the help of Anonymous, they have secured over 200,000 signatures on a whitehouse petition to label this "Church" as a hategroup. If the government does that and takes away their non-profit status, this group is done.

Interesting. I'm a peaceful guy...and I'd never, ever personally do anything to harm anyone who wasn't putting my life or the life of my family/friends in danger. But my goodness do I sometimes wish for a real-life guy like "The Punisher" (from the movies of the same name)...who goes around righting wrongs, legal system or years and years of appeals be ####ed. There is so much wrong with our country right now...and people are using a lot of that to misinform and mislead the naive/vulnerable, not to mention making a financial gain off said activities. Heck, would Fox News even be on the air if they weren't scaring millions of old people and "good, Bible-thumping Christians" into believing that the boogey-men (Obama, Muslims, illegals, et al) were coming to steal their property and rape their women and children?

Somewhere, at some point, someone is going to need to forcefully (and probably violently) say "enough." It certainly isn't going to be me! But if I see a news flash on CNN or ??? that these yahoos were brought to their knees, crying for salvation/deliverance that will N-E-V-E-R come (for them), I will take some severe joy/pleasure in said news.

Speech and protests usually are enough to get you hate group. Violent actions usually get you terrorist designation.

Don't white power groups also do actually illegal things (at least at times)? I mean the KKK has committed crimes, there are actual gangs that are white supremacists and I see why they are hate groups...I mean, if someone started a "white people are better" group tomorrow that was absolutely nonviolent and never did anything illegal, they just gathered together to talk about their belief that white people are good, would that group be instantly labelled legally a hate group? What if this group was a church?As much as I very much dislike the WBC and what they say and do, I'm not sure labeling them as a hate group with no actual crime committed is a good idea and I also think taking away their status as a church group is a good idea either.Just too much of a slippery slope. Are we then going to go after other Church groups that preach that homosexuality is a sin, because they are just as hateful??ETA: I guess my question is answered one post above...
