What are you doing to pass the time these days? Anything good happen out of the blue? (1 Viewer)

I'm on Day 8 of self quarantine.     I'm four days into watching Mad Men again.  Up to S2, Ep 3.

Responded to one of those dumb FB posts yesterday, explaining why I and my 22 year old son have to stay away from people because of heart issues.   A friend of a friend commented on my post, someone I didn't know, and he posted a picture of his 26 year old boy, with a heart condition and he has Downs.  Pic was him with the biggest ####### grin catching like an 18-inch trout. Pure joy.  Made my ####ty day a 1000x better.

Day 3 of a 14 day mandatory quarantine.

Yesterday I built a Lincoln Log fort. Out of real logs. I had a big oak tree trimmed about a week ago, and I told them to leave the bigger limbs so I could cut it up into firewood this fall.

So they left me these 5’ sections of logs. So I built a log fort. About 5’ tall. Gonna work on it tomorrow some more.

Going out for rides and walks every Saturday and Sunday with my wife.  3 reservoirs near Hanover PA and  a small park in Carroll Co. MD last weekend. Tomorrow somewhere when I'm done dropping off bird food at my mom's locked-down nursing home, then maybe Michaux State Forest in PA on Sunday. Tons and tons of recorded series to watch on TV.  A drink or 2.

Tiger King on Netflix is the perfect white trash tale...highly recommend!

Is this you?

We are self isolating and staying inside because of my health, but 15 year old daughter has us watching movies and we are playing board/card games.

We are just stepping away from the news and pretty much tv in general. Going to start a walking routine tomorrow.

Time to enjoy the simpler things that I think we lost sight of.

-getting in better shape

-driving range

-stock/market research

-writing screenplay

-work

-shooting at the park

-stuff with the gf

-tv/movies

Walking more than ever. Knocking off a bunch of small projects that never really got attention. Tool organization, cabinet under the sink, that type of stuff. And all the research involved with the Greatest of All Time draft !!

Yard work, getting out and running/walking more, and just enjoying spending time on the back porch listening to the breeze.

i organized a virtual Happy Hour on zoom yesterday. Just myself and a couple of buddies. Still passed some time together (while apart) and had a few laughs.

I'm probably buying another Equinox, my lease is up in three weeks.  Friend is a sales manager at the local dealership, been good to me.
They have some pretty good incentives right now so you should get a really good buy.  I really like the new Kia Seltos but to get a premium color and desired options you have to order and there are almost not incentives being offered.

My neighbor organized a zoom happy hour a couple days ago. It was a lot more fun than I expected. I bet zoom is getting crushed now.

im looking for a good app or website to run an online euchre or poker tournament among my friends. Or maybe a trivia night.

The neighborhood school Facebook moms organized a chalk-a-thon so kids can do chalk art on the sidewalks and driveways. So when people are out walking they can see different stuff.

It was cool going on my run this morning and seeing random art, positive words, and just goofy stuff too.

Sunny day here. Gonna sit out back, work on my log fort, drink some beer, and maybe light a fire in the firepit. Log fort may end up there. Stay tuned.

did this with my FB friends the other night. Just threw a link up and had a few people join. It was cool b/c 2 were people I have not physically spoken to in a while.

I highly recommend doing it, I'll be doing it again in another day or so.

After nine days inside, we took a car ride out an hour from out place to a little waterfall near the Snake River in the Owyhee Mountains. Got a little hiking in.  More people than we expected, but everyone was cool and kept their distance.

found out son is already paying for hulu so get to add that to show binging

finished Mad Men

started The League

Letterkenny

Justified

Tiger King

Anyone have opinions on "The Riches" or "Mr. In-Between"?

We saved Jack Ryan and Ms. Maisal for the off-season. With all the shows shutting down production... hello off-season.

Learning more italian and reading a lot of perugiatoday.it, which is helping my comprehension.  Just bought and gutted a beach condo and doing the 1,000 little things the effin contractor left over, like caulking properly, paint touch up.  Putting together wayfair furniture is a full time job.  Also learned a Wayfair anomaly.  Had a dining table delivered damaged....a corner was peeled and shredded a bit.  We called to complain and they told us to keep it and donate or throw it out,  $800 table.....Obviously i decided to wood fill, sand and stain.

We’ve done this 3-4 times already. Also doing it with my Sales teams. At least restores some sense of normalcy

Had a good thing happen out of the blue today....

Daughter is like Operation Mgr for Cheescake Factory.  Does all the BOH stuff.  Ordering, HR, payroll, deposits, etc...

So CCFactory is paying all their employees 2 or 3 weeks of sick pay.  They have an app for this, but half the staff in the last two days has text my daughter with all sorts of questions. Some of them really lame like , "what's gross pay mean."

Early afternoon, she tells me of this super nice kid, a recent refugee from Nigeria, who does dishes and busses tables, and sends a lot of it back home. Daughter tells me that her and another employee are going to buy like 10 bags of groceries for him.  He's literally out of stuff, with no money and no car.  I was so proud of her, that I gave her $$$ to help out also.  She said there was a lot of

is he a prince?

With all the people walking, the sidewalk in my neighborhood is on my side of the street.

Thinking of just sitting in a chair in our front window and just wave to people all day. Keep a count and see who waves back. Run out and yell at the folks whose dogs poop in my yard.

I discovered I love Roxy Music. I don’t know why I always dismissed them and never gave them a fair listen but holy hell are they good. That’s a positive discovery.

Day 8 of quarantine for me.  The first 5 days was absolutely crazy busy with work over the phone but the last few days I’ve been able to devote some time to my hobby, woodworking/furniture building.  I just now finished my dinning room table I have been working on for a while.  Solid black walnut.  Super stoked, It looks awesome.

Tiny kitchen guy here:

Spice shelf and rest of pantry reorganized.  Re-org'd  the kichen cabinets too and now I have the entire 3'x1' top shelf on my baker's rack freed up for bulk storage items, next time I reload on supplies, which I estimate is about 6 weeks out.
