What are your unpopular 2009 fantasy football opinions? (1 Viewer)

for me its Kevin Jones will take away from Forte more than people think.

I can see the bears having some larger leads than last year in the 4th and giving more garbage time to Jones. He is young, 27 and 2 years removed from an injury. The Lions did not use him properly, they gave up on the run way to soon during a lot of games. I can see Jones geting 400 rushing and 100 receiving and 2-4 TDs.

Mine is:

Calvin Johnson will not live up to the ADP and hype he is receiving. Once Stafford gets in there, which should happen by the 4th game if not sooner, I expect teams to completely lock down on CJ and expect others to beat them and make Stafford make reads to his 2nd and 3rd options.

Matt Ryan might not be the second coming of Peyton Manning (in FF) and his passing numbers this year may stay relatively flat or regress slightly.

1. Warner has a very reasonable chance to play 14+ games this year

2. Very few rookies are going to perform well their rookie year unlike last year

3. Donald Brown is going to end up the #1 RB from this year's class.

Regarding #3. Do you mean this season? Or just in the future?

Roy Williams numbers are much better than the 60-900-7 (average) that people seem to expect from him.

FWIW, I predict:

70 - 1100 - 9

:lmao:

The lighter, healthy Daunte Culpepper returns to 2004 form and leads Detroit into the playoffs [stafford sits the whole season!]!

1. Marques Colston will put up top 3 WR numbers 85/1400/12

2. That Antonio Bryant sux

3. Ray Rice will finish in the top 5 in RB scoring this year

at least the 2nd one is for sure!

Timmmaaaayyyyyy Hightower will be the lead RB over Beaner and do quite well this year. Excellent value at his current ADP
You just took mine! I predict Hightower will be a top-15 RB with a legitimate shot at top-10.Julius Jones will be a top-20 RB and Chris Henry will be a top-15 WR.

Drew Brees will get injured for 4-6 games and ruin a lot of owner's seasons.

Matt Forte will have a 3.8 YPC...again...with fewer carries. See Kevin Jones comment above.

Antonio Gates has his best year ever.

Anthony Gonzalez outperforms Reggie Wayne.

Eagles fans are chanting Brian Brohm's name by week 13 after spectacular letdowns by McNabb and Vick.

Michael Crabtree sits out the whole season and gets drafted mid-first round 2010.

Actually, I think your predictions are more of the popular opinion.
Fail
Fail? Here is his player spotlight thread

There are far more people predicting #"s like 70/1100/9 than there are predicting 60/900/7 if I'm not mistaken. So how is that a fail? The UNPOPULAR opinion is the 60/900/7 line of thinking. I happen to be on that UNPOPULAR side. I've been on that side for quite a while, actually.

1. Robert Meachem lives up to his first round draft status of 2007 and becomes a fantasy force, especially for teams that count player's return yards.

2. Matthew Stafford never sees the field of play this year. Lions win 8 games.

3. Chris Cooley leads his team in receiving yards.

4. Rashard Mendenhall proves his skeptics wrong and leads the Steelers in rushing yards.

5. Houston makes the playoffs. Dallas does not.

6. The Farve experiment in Minnesota will be an abject failure. Start your NFC Central defenses against Minn.

7. Santonio Holmes explodes this year and finishes as a top 10 WR.

8. Lee Evans outperforms Terrell Owens by a wide margin.

9. Vince Young relieves Kerry Collins, does well, but the Titans miss the playoffs.

10. Philip Rivers wins the NFL MVP award this year. Chargers win the Super Bowl.

As others have said Tim Hightower will overwhelmingly outperform Beanie Wells this year

Payton Hillis will end up with the best numbers of the Denver RBs

both Turner and Williams will disappoint

and Braylon Edwards will catch more than 10 TD's

- Calvin Johnson not a Top 5 WR (non-PPR)

- Owen Daniels has 75 catches, 6 TDs

- TO has a lackluster season, but Edwards, Evans, and Lynch all perform as worthy FF starters

- Ryan Grant and Brandon Jacobs are Top 10 RBs

- MJD and Forte finish outside the Top 5 (at least in non-PPR)

- Percy Harvin = fantasy bust in 2009, only a few startable games

- Antonio Bryant gets 1,000+ yards

- Mason Crosby leads the league in scoring

- Thomas Jones gets 1,200+ total yards

1.That Michael Turner's numbers will drop significantly from last year.

2.That Peyton Hillis will be the best back in Denver.

3.That the QB pool is much more shallow than we have been led to believe. Palmer, Romo, Warner, and Matt Schaub will all disappoint their owners.
