What comprises a bad matchup for TEs? (1 Viewer)

So this is obviously something that can be done across various positions but figure I'd suggest the TE position. In taking a look at various rankings this week I've been wondering if there's any rhyme or reason to designating one TE match up as favorable vs. one that's unfavorable.

Let's use Martellus Bennett vs. CLE and Greg Olsen vs. SEA. Both of these guys have overperformed, I think, but these matchups are supposedly not favorable for them succeeding. The Browns have surrendered a ton of points to WRs but have played well against TEs. Why is this? Does CLE play a particular brand of defense that hinders TE production? Do they have that one player that can take an elite TE out of the game? SEA is a bit different. They've got CBs that can certainly handle their own against WRs but what makes Olsen a shaky play this week? Is it that one guy that can take him out? Is it a zone or man scheme? Essentially, I think it would be interesting to take a closer look at specific defenses and possibly bring some clarity as to why they're better or worse at stopping TEs. That's all I have for now.

Regarding the Browns, I believe the main reason TEs haven't been scoring well against their defense is because opposing offenses are attacking their weak secondary. That seemed to be the case against the Ravens last week, at least.

A lot has do with offensive line play and the opponent's pass rush. Take Heath Miller for example. I don't think he has a good matchup this week against the Eagles with a questionable Steeler offensive line. I think he will spend more time blocking than catching passes.
