What date to set for "End Trade Date" (1 Viewer)

Footballguy
This is my first year running a sportsline FF league. So far it's gone well, but I'm wondering what to consider when setting an "End Trade Date" for the league. It's a 12 team league with a complete redraft (no keepers) the following year. Thanks for any suggestions ahead of time.

Tradationaly weekend before Thanksgiving is best. IMO

Novemeber 17th a Friday night at Midnight.

Some leagues earlier, but with my leagues over 20 years old and a full league vote each trade and the veteren good owners we are this works best for us. And it's stayed the same forever!

I have been in my main money league for 12 years. The league trading deadline is always announced at the draft. This year, the deadline is Friday November 17, 2006 @ midnight.

What ever you set it at, you should do it quickly and notify all owners.

Should be determined preseason.

But, since you didn't, the 17th is probably good. It will give everyone two weeks notice, and will allow all trades to process in time for the next week's games, which start play on a Thursday. Traditionally, it works well.

My league has always used that date, but for some reason this season they made it Thursday, Nov. 2. Waaaay to early. However, since there was only one trade all season (after the draft and before week 1, after Stallworth was traded his owner had too many Eagles and shopped him around), it probably won't make much of a difference in our case. However, it does feel artificially early.

The Friday before Week 11's games. (That would be 11/17 for this year).

If you go beyond that date, you're just asking for trouble in terms of non-playoff teams dumping players. In a competitive league, most teams will still have a shot at the playoffs after 10 weeks.

In one league, we end trades next Friday.

In another, trades can go up to the week before the last week of the season (no trades in the week before the playoffs).

Ours is between weeks 5 and 6. It was set years ago and is just about the time the NFL's deadline which I think was just after week 6 this year.
