What did A. Brooks do to everybody? (1 Viewer)

I know people cant really believe that all the problems that the raiders are having are his fault. Nobody every has anything to good to say about him either. Me personally I dont care who would have been at QB those first 2 games it would not have mattered. That team is playing like they are quitting on the system.

I was just wondering why all the hate?

He has all world talent and a dimestore head.

The thing that aggrivates me is that he just doesn't seem to care. I like to think it's called "professional" football for a reason. And Brooks approaches being a quarterback in the NFL unprofessionally.

Id have to guess its because he was caught laughing on the sidelines several times during blowouts. Deserved or not, those kinds of memories stay with you....

You have a very disguising user name Aaron. Could hardly tell it was you. When you play as poor as you have, make highlight reel errors, and do not establish yourself as a leader; you will come under fire. Certainly it is not all your fault though. The o-line is in shambles, the offensive system is from the jurassic era, the players are not dedicated...etc.Unfortunately for you, when a team struggles, fingers get pointed to the QB. Get healthy, become a leader, and good luck.

:lmao: Are you a Raiders fan? If not, just curious why you are interested?

I don't think it's hate (at least for me) it more of a lack of respect for his skills and decision making. It predates the Raiders although he's done nothing in the preseason or couple regular season games to change the opinion.

He has good physical tools but is a bad QB that makes bad decisions. He doesn't learn from his mistakes and hasn't progressed over the past 5 years. Besides that he's fine.

nah Texans fan :bag: but I've always liked Brooks and I know every now and then he does something that make your face bawl up and say WTF. But everything i'm hearing everybody bangs on this guy. Maybe its just me but I hate to see people just get dumped on by everybody. I guess I'm the underdog lover.

it is those blunders. They are often at such critical times and they are such bonhead blunders you cannot wipe them from your mind. Like throwing a pass with his off hand right into a defenderhe takes brett favre type risks, and he is not favre

Saints fans have many beefs with Brooks. The single biggest one is that his fragile ego prevented Jim Haslett from benching a hurt Brooks in the 2002 season finale. A win would have gotten the Saints into the playoffs, and Jake Delhomme was ready for the start. But Haslett kept up his coddling of Brooks's ego, starting a player that could barely lift his arm. A lot of this is on Haslett, true ... but Saints fans came to dislike both ends of the symbiont Haslett-Brooks relationship.Another popular notion is that with another QB, the Haslett Saints go to the playoffs a few more times. It's widely held that Brooks cost the Saints about 3-4 wins a year on his own, on teams that consistently finished around .500.

I don't know why people seem to not like him. I have no problem with Brooks. He sucks as a QB, but I don't know people don't like him.

Similar to my situation (Lion's fan), sorry to hear that. Not trying to hijack the thread, but what do you make of Andre Johnsons play so far, I have always been a big fan of his. Is he turning into an elite playmaker, or is he a product of them coming back from behind every game?

he still drops TOOO many passes. I'm starting to think this guy just cant catch. But if he does catch it he turns into a beast. He usaully gets his early in the game and then they forget he's on the field at times. dont know who's fault that is but it happens alot.

Hard to believe I actually drafted Brooks this year, as I have done late several times (he's off my roster now though...)

I don't hate him--just don't trust him. What'd he do to me?!! Several years ago I went into the Monday night game of our Super Bowl behind by 6 points, my opponent's players spent and me still with Brooks playing in a good matchup. He had had a good year to that point (got me to the dance, after all) and it was such a slam dunk that my opponent even posted congratulations on the league message board before the game started.

I lost. Brooks did Nothing.

His late season swoons are legendary in these parts. :hot:

I am curious by what you are saying, Andre has caught 84% of his targets so far (highest in the league amongst the leaders). Now maybe the 16% are drops vs. breakups/bad throws. But that percentage really stuck out to me. I believe you because you are watching the games, but am surprised based on his target/catch percentage.

I can guarantee you that all of that 16% are drops. and it is the easiest catches that he drops and usually on first or 2nd down. He's a body catcher so he drops a lot of easy catches.

Id have to guess its because he was caught laughing on the sidelines several times during blowouts. Deserved or not, those kinds of memories stay with you....
wasn't that during the preseason though
He did it long before he ever became a Raider. He routinely yucked it up on the Saints' sidelines after throwing key interceptions or dropping fumbles. He would also roll teammates under the bus. He was quoted as saying things like "I'm a great QB, but the team is struggling..." He could have owned New Orleans after winning the playoff game against the Rams a few years ago, but seemed to be playing the game solely for the paycheck and didn't really seem to care if the team won or not.

Brooks definitely got the benefit of the doubt a LOT in New Orleans and I agree with your assessment. On a personal note, he screwed up quite a few fantasy games for me. No guts, no brain, no pride = Aaron Brooks.

New Orleans is now 3-0 without him. Coincidence or luck? Discuss.

Not sure why people make such a beef over this. Do you guys know what he was laughing about? Maybe the players were just trying to stay upbeat. It was just the first game of the year.

To Aaron's credit, when he first got playing time (back with the Saints), he provided a huge spark. Unfortunately, he never truly progressed mentally. He never showed much progress in reading the defense. Maybe that is mostly his fault, maybe it is partly due to the staff at the time. Either way he never made the critical steps from "great potential" to "consistant progression".

Last night on New Orleans 870am "The Front Office Show" -- host Kenny Wilkerson asks Mickey Loomis the following question: "You have a new head coach, an entirely new staff, and over half the player roster has changed from last year. What one thing or player has made the most difference in this year's team vs. teams of the past few years"?Loomis: "Drew Brees".'Nuff said.

:goodposting: Now being the Raider Hater that I am....Brooks is currently my all time favorite Raider. I was a little disjointed when Uncle Al fired my then favorite, Super Dave Wanstedt but since he was replaced with Art Shell I can forgive Uncle Al. The Hiring of Collins at QB scared me at first and then I remembered how lifeless he was and once again was dissapointed that he was let go because Collins not only sucked, but he was an expensive suck. Then the genious Al, signed Brooks....and the world was restored to order. Yep, as long as Chokeland has Brooks at QB, and Shell calling the shots, I will sleep good at night. Thanks Al.

He stopped running with the football for some reason... In his early years he ran a lot more and kept drives going... If he were to take off they would need to spy him more and the coverage would change against his wr crew..

Run with the football forest..
