What do you bring to your draft w/ you? (1 Viewer)

Ok so draft day arrives & you pull up to your friends house/bar/wherever you draft....what do you bring with you? I love walking into my draft and seeing owners with magazines, their laptops, notebooks, trapper keepers, etc. ( the 1 guy who brings his laptop doesn't use DD ). I walk in with 1 piece of paper which is my VBD cheat sheet which is broken down into my tiers. On the backside I make a grid of the draft board. If I need to check FBG projections or anything else FBG related I use the iPhone app. I just get a kick watching them sort through so much crap as I have that ever so important 1 piece of paper. Curious to see what is the norm for you guys & your league mates.

I've never had the balls to do it, but I always wanted to arrive at a draft with nothing and do it from memory. This offseason has been crazy, but in a typical year, I think most of us know the starters for 95% of the teams and who we covet as sleepers in later rounds. Obviously, it would create errors in VBD, but would be cool nonetheless. Just too competitive when it comes to FF not to take advantage of knowledge/resources I have.

A gun... that way if someone steals a player from me, I can just off them and not have to worry about it anymore. Kidding of course...

I play in one league with some old friends where no one is allowed to use any resources at the draft. No lists, no computers, no phones, no nothing. We draft off of a spreadsheet that has the top 300 players listed in ALPHABETICAL ORDER. Names only. No positions, teams, or byes.

This draft really separates the men from the women.

In the past, I have created my own spreadsheet of my top 50 players, along with a separate sheet for RB's and WR's.

This year, I decided to go with the Draft Dominator and was really happy with how easy it made things. The only problem I had was that when things started moving really quickly I must have skipped over a pick or two and it threw off the entire draft. I was still able to keep track of the available players...it just screwed up knowing what each team had drafted.

I used Cheatsheet HD. Not bad... It's a bit flaky around player lists and available.

Note Taker HD was an excellent note taking app....

DD FOR NEXT YER ON THE PAD is a must. I'll help mpany way I can.... Big bad SW QA guy I am!!

Brought comp with dd to track players. Since it's a keeper league some later picks get skipped since the owner has a full roster (need a skip button couldn't find it)

Had a vbd list printed in case computer battery died

And my keeper list so I can track my spending we have a draft day salary cap

And my towel since we did our draft in palm springs poolside (well in the cabana anyway. Had to partially hide the nerdfest!)

An Ipad DD would be perfect. The battery life of the ipad would allow a much easier process compared to a laptop.

I did a draft one year from memory as a bet. The ####ers didnt do a draft board, so I got screwed even more. The bet was league dues the next season if I finished better than an owner. I finished middle of the pack, while the other owner (who isnt very good) finished like 3rd worst. It was fun, challenging, but overall quite difficult. What I found myself doing was walking down the depth charts of teams. Also not having my team written down in front of me meant it was tough thinking about bye weeks and if I had other players on the same team as someone I was thinking of drafting.

Oh yea, and to the original poster ... it sounds like you show up with a sheet of paper, computer, and a writing utensil. I show up with a computer, and thats it.

LOL @ laughing at someone for bringing a laptop to a draft. I can't even tell if you're serious.

Also you have to flip your stupid piece of paper over each time you want to check the draft board? How idiotic and inefficient is that?

a netbook with DD and usually one piece of paper with the reaches I want to target so I don't forget them.

Angry much? When did I say I laughed at the guy using his laptop? I said there is one guy who brings his laptop & he doesn't use DD. Also why is my piece of paper stupid? What did my VBD cheatsheet ever do wrong to you? Last of all, not that I feel the need to explain myself but I will anyways, I keep my own grid on my sheet bc I choose to sit in a place that's not near the draft board & since I already know the players I like & want, I like to pretty much stare down the other teams draft to see who they took, what they need, any trends, etc.

My 22 y.o. wearing a deep v-neck oversized jersey. She has great cans, totally wipes out a third of the guys who start pushing each other out of the way trying to run game on her. About the 13th round she let's them know 1) she goes to a Jesuit school by choise, and 2) she's engaged. By then they've drafted RoY as a WR2, Reggie Bush as their flex, and 3 QBs.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Nebtbook with draft dominator.

I've adopted the less is more theory a long time ago.

When I first started I used to be the guy that looked like he was walking into court to defend Kenny Britt. Multiple magaines, cheat sheets, etc. The problem was I was going back and forth between so many publications that I would confuse myself and miss players.

I started making my own list and having that being the only thing I drafted off of. I would bring one magazine with well organized player stats in case I wanted to double check something at the last minute.

Last few years I've just run Draft Dominator off my laptop, period. I'll tweak the stats so it's my player list. It lets me keep up with everybody else's draft, shows me a quick team roster summary, let's me see what the wrap arounds may or may not be taking.

The great thing about DD isn't the player list/projections. It's that it's so well organized that it lets you focus on your decision rather than trying to keep up with what's going on.

2 sheets of paper. One has my player list and the other a blank grid to write down picks by owner and position so I can quickly see what everyone's roster looks like.

1 pen

Laptop w/ DD

Custom FBG cheatsheet w/ my own short notes/arrows...scratch off players for maybe half the draft

A pen to write my team down on back of cheatsheet (different visual than DD helps me sometimes  )

Tin of Skoal and/or Pack of cigs

Maybe some special goodies or beer depending on the setting

Best of Both worlds for me. Since the draft is at my house - I used DD on my Ipad - that is using splashtop remote destop app that uses my Ipad to control my computer from another room. It was awesome!!!!!!!
