What does your league do? (1 Viewer)

Hey guys,

So I commish a league of good buddies and everything is pretty friendly, no real controversies etc.

That said, I have heard grumblings from some of the owners fighting for a playoff spot that another team got a "free ride" because their opponent started a guy who was listed as "out" all week, or a bye week guy.

Now one key item to add is that we have limited player pickups during the year. It's capped at 10 additions for the year (unlimited trades) to try and encourage trading.

So, what would you do? For those of you guys in other "friend" leagues, what do you tell your buddies at the beginning of the season regarding lineups and what "punishments" (if any) do you guys impose?

Thanks guys and good luck for the rest of the season.

My league punishes teams that play a bye week player or a guy who is announced as out early in the week (we don't punish for gameday inactives) by stripping the team of a draft pick (a 4th rounder) the following season.

The 1st league wide instance where this happens, everyone gets a warning. The next team to do it is fined. If the fine is not paid within 1 week, the team is locked out. If the team still does not pay, they are expelled from the league and a new owner is brought in to run the team at no charge.

I like the idea of instituting losing a draft pick. I may add that to the rules next year.

Another thing to add, this isn't a straight redraft or a dynasty league. We hold an auction to stock our rosters and each owner is allocated a certain $ amount. One thought that I had was to "deduct" a certain amount each time an owner starts a player on a bye or who is clearly not going to play, from their starting amount for the following year.

Anyone ever done this?
