What happened to Lavernaues Coles? (1 Viewer)

What happened to Coles? Is it the end of the road for him? Did the concussion speed up his aging process? He did not seem to have that same wiggle and escapability as he has in years past. Is Coles the ultimate buy low canidate or is he a sell while you can guy?

Do people see his numbers improving or continuing the decline?

It seems he is a MUCH better player when Pennington is the QB vs Clemons. Is this just my imagination"?

Don't forget that he was having a VERY good year through the first several games before the QB change and his injuries.

If Chad wins back the job, I think he'll be a solid sleeper, but I do think his best days are probably behind him. Cotchery seems to be more of the focus in the passing game, and the presence of Coles will only help Cotch.

This should not surprise anyone. Clemens took over mid-season without the opportunity to develop the rapport with Coles. Pennington and Cole have been on the field together for a long time now. While I think Coles is on the decline, it's a bit premature to write him off completely. If Clemens gets a chance to work with him in the offseason then there is hope for him. Pennington may win the open competition and retain the starting gig.Personally, I think Coles is a solid buy low candidate.

30 years old is not "old". I also disagree that he was never "that good". In a PPREC league - Coles is an excellent player when he is putting up 80+ and 1000 yards.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him holdout and try to force a trade if the Jets continue to not re-do his contract. He can't be happy with the money they've thrown around this offseason.

I'll never understand this argument from the player's perspective. The team is spending all that money on FA's because you and your teammates turned in a 4-12 season (with 2 wins being against the dolphins) If coles makes so much as an official peep for a new deal, I send him to football siberia. Coles has played hurt and been a warrior at times for this franchise. But the team has already offered to guarantee the last 11 mil of his deal. If he doesnt shut up now, i say good bye and move on

I agree with that - guaranteeing 11 million is nothing to scoff at. He isnt goign to get 16 million guaranteed anywhere coming off a serious concussion and a very down year.

He should take the deal and run with it.
