Moongate is what happened.
Nothing but a dog and pony show to syphon more funds to the elite and the black budget.
I think you mean the Roswell crash.![]()
Many of the technological advancements you enjoy today can trace their roots to development in the space program
Should just give the whole budget to Musk. If there's someone that will make the most of it, its that guy.Actually I saw Trump administration plans on privatizing elements of our space program.
I'm not really in favor of giving Musk $20 billion a year of our money so can come up with ways to get even wealthier.Should just give the whole budget to Musk. If there's someone that will make the most of it, its that guy.
I don't know, his wealth seems to be just the by product of a crap ton of hard work, dedication and passion. It seems like that if we're going to be spending that much public money, he's exactly the type of guy I'd like to see spending it. While we're at it, we should probably give him some of the $30B that goes to the department of energy.I'm not really in favor of giving Musk $20 billion a year of our money so can come up with ways to get even wealthier.
He shot a car into space that will either crash into the sun, earth or on Mars- contaminating the planet with alien microbes. We are turning over our whole space program to him after that publicity stunt?NutterButter said:I don't know, his wealth seems to be just the by product of a crap ton of hard work, dedication and passion. Damn white folk. It's like the Indians and small pox blankets all over again. He shot a car into space that will either crash into the sun, earth or on Mars- contaminating the planet with alien microbes. We are turning over our whole space program to him after that publicity stunt?
Maybe he can shoot a motorcycle in space next. A Hog in Heaven...gnarly dudeDamn white folk. It's like the Indians and small pox blankets all over again.
LIES! It is from an iced over NBE1 that Captain Witwicky found. I saw it on a documentary once.![]()

Link?He shot a car into space that will either crash into the sun, earth or on Mars- contaminating the planet with alien microbes.
I thought they were aiming for Mars but overshot and now it is headed to some asteroid belt?He shot a car into space that will either crash into the sun, earth or on Mars- contaminating the planet with alien microbes. We are turning over our whole space program to him after that publicity stunt?
Per the story I linked, that probably won't happen. The article has a drawing showing the anticipated orbit.I thought they were aiming for Mars but overshot and now it is headed to some asteroid belt?
Also didn't say it would crash into anything and pollute it. That's the link I was looking for from ilove80sPer the story I linked, that probably won't happen. The article has a drawing showing the anticipated orbit.
Can you imagine our civilization being destroyed and a thousand years from now the successor civilization finding this freaking car with a freaking mannequin in the driver seat and trying to figure out what the hell it is all about?!Per the story I linked, that probably won't happen. The article has a drawing showing the anticipated orbit.
Maybe it will hit UranusI thought they were aiming for Mars but overshot and now it is headed to some asteroid belt?
2-6% chance in tens of millions of years is what you're worked up about? So your statement was wrong. It's not 'it will crash' it's it likely won't crash into anything.
I'm not worked up- I'm wondering why that was so impressive than someone suggested turning over our annual $20 billion NASA budget to him.2-6% chance in tens of millions of years is what you're worked up about? other than the fact they he successfully launched a payload into space with reusable boosters at a fraction of the expense that our government currently pays to launch satellites?I'm not worked up- I'm wondering why that was so impressive than someone suggested turning over our annual $20 billion NASA budget to him.
1) Considering all that he's been through getting SpaceX to where its at, he's certainly entitled to a little fun. 2) I don't think cheap (relatively speaking) publicity stunts are such a bad thing if it means greater public interest in space exploration especially if that public interest means greater funding. He shot a car into space that will either crash into the sun, earth or on Mars- contaminating the planet with alien microbes. We are turning over our whole space program to him after that publicity stunt?
We already saved Tesla and SpaceX. Musk is smart but he's had plenty of budget/money issues himself. I'm fine with the current arrangement: he comes up with something cool, gets to the verge of bankruptcy and we bail him out with a loan.other than the fact they he successfully launched a payload into space with reusable boosters at a fraction of the expense that our government currently pays to launch satellites?
using his delivery system, we would save about half a billion dollars per launch versus the US's current military contract for payload delivery. NASA is at about $8 billion on developing its own heavy-lift system, with no successful launches and no viable dates scheduled.
Plus, the car was being used as ballast anyways. The weight was needed, so why not use his car?1) Considering all that he's been through getting SpaceX to where its at, he's certainly entitled to a little fun. 2) I don't think cheap (relatively speaking) publicity stunts are such a bad thing if it means greater public interest in space exploration especially if that public interest means greater funding.
Either way that’s impressive gas mileageI thought they were aiming for Mars but overshot and now it is headed to some asteroid belt?
They would likely seek us out to destroy us for being annoying.Say the car is found by some alien nation. How cool would that be. It's like a time capsule of sort.
Wait.... do you mean to tell me a private independent entrepreneur is able to do something more effectively, efficiently, quickly and cooler than a government agency can? I'm going to have to sit down and try to wrap my head around this.other than the fact they he successfully launched a payload into space with reusable boosters at a fraction of the expense that our government currently pays to launch satellites?

Right. I forgot about the David Bowie music.Chadstroma said:They would likely seek us out to destroy us for being annoying.
They had to send a dummy payload. That he has a sense of humor and can identify a good marketing opportunity are not liabilities. He shot a car into space that will either crash into the sun, earth or on Mars- contaminating the planet with alien microbes. It was good marketing that's for sure. They had to send a dummy payload. That he has a sense of humor and can identify a good marketing opportunity are not liabilities.
Wait, sorry, are you suggesting the moon landing was faked?Moongate is what happened.
Nothing but a dog and pony show to syphon more funds to the elite and the black budget.
China could land astronauts on the moon as early as the 2030s, leapfrogging NASA in their lunar capabilities.
I'm all for space exploration and find myself interested in the newest innovations and technologies, but China landing astronauts on the moon 60 years after the US did it doesn't really excite me as much as I guess it should. We're going to lose space dominance!!!!
