What is a priority FA? (1 Viewer)

So some of these rookie UDFAs are referred to as 'priority' free agents. Anyone know what that means?

the draft used to be much longer. At it's current length, there will be 20 or so players who will actually make NFL rosters, but were not drafted.

Priority FA's are rookies who some teams may have considered draft worthy, but di not get to select them do to team needs, a belief they could sign them after the draft, or some other reason.

"Priority" as in..."get to them quickly before someone else does, cause we want to see this kid in camp"

So this is just a term teams use? No kind of exclusive rights or different contract?
Exclusive Right general refers a player whose contract has expired, but been in the league three seasons or less. Most UFDA sign one year deals and become exclusive right free agents after that.
