What is New England going to do at QB? (1 Viewer)

And if Matt Flynn played like he did against the Lions in 2012 for an entire season, he would have thrown for 7,690 yards and 96 TD the following year for the Seahawks. Limited sample sizes aren't even worth talking about.
Wow. You took that seriously?

Not particularly. I didn't notice who posted it. However, I already have heard sports talk using the Stidham pick six as a reason why they need to bail as fast as they can on him. So it's not like there aren't people citing the same game as you did.

It was a joke based on the Pats (not) getting the first overall pick. Darnold threw a pick 6 on his very first NFL pass so I surely don't think (hope) that's a harbinger for a kid's career.

I personally don't think they go full in with Stidham but I really don't have any idea.

If what has been reported in the past 24 hours is true and Brady effectively told NE he wasn't coming back a year ago (which makes sense), then BB had last draft and this draft to get a top tier QB (and picked Stidham . . . this draft who knows). He also would have had the ability to plan for a year to free up cap room and make roster decisions to have cap space available to sign or trade for a known commodity (and has not). From what I have seen / heard / read, NE did not make any attempt to bring back Brady after Tom said he wasn't returning. They didn't even make him an offer (allegedly).

BB still could make a trade for a QB, make a trade to have room to sign a reliable QB, and draft a hot shot rookie QB. But SO FAR, BB hasn't done any of those things, which leads me to believe that Stidham will be the first option AS OF TODAY.

However, nothing would shock me, and they could cut or trade someone like Marcus Cannon to save $5.6 million in cap space (doubtful, but they have done weirder things in the past) or release Mohamed Sanu to save $6.5 million (who was said to have been someone Brady wanted around). It's still very early in the process, and as I always say with NE, we won't know much until we get to September.

He’s the only option as of today

Cam Newton? Rookie QB? Tank for a QB next year?

I don't think Bill could participate in an outright tank, but he could sell it as believing in Stidham who they liked at his draft point and apprenticed under the GOAT and let it ride for one season.

While Tom was a sharp dresser, I also can't imagine the visual of the hoodie standing next to Cam in a floral print scarf, Jackie O shades and a fedora. That's taking it too far.

LOL at THIS ARTICLE from Patriots Wire that ranks the likely replacements for Brady. I'll spoil it for everyone. There pick to be the starter after TB12 . . .

CODY KESSLER.

I can't imagine this would be the actual choice of BB. It has to be click bait.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them use a 1st or 2nd round pick on a QB to compete with Stidham.    For instance, Jalen Hurts or Jake Fromm.  There are good QBs throughout the draft.  They usually don't go to good teams, and thus don't work out.  NE is still a pretty solid team, especially on D.  And a mid drafted QB on a rookie pay scale...good thing.
