What is the STATE of the TAMPA BAY BUCS (1 Viewer)

Boy there's so much bad info in this thread that it's almost a little startling.

The Dungy/Gruden thing continues to be dumb, as it was since day 1. Once again, Dungy took two very good teams to Philly in the playoffs in 2000 and 2001 and got boatraced both times. Gruden took the 2002 team up there in the NFC title game and dominated. Then he won the Super Bowl. Case closed. It's dumb to even continue to talk about.

The Glazers...are they cheap? Maybe a little. I find it hard to say that after they paid Gruden $15 million to not coach again, then gave Winslow, Ward and Clayton big contracts (whether deserved or not is another story) and went hard after Haynesworth, but what you CANNOT say is that they have been unsuccessful. From 2000-2009, they went to the playoffs 5 times, won 3 division titles and a Super Bowl. The list of teams/owners that had a better decade than that is pretty short.

I don't see the reason to spend good after bad right now. Clearly the team is a year or two away and there were no impact free agents. Most fans are impatient, dumb or a combination of the both and can't remember that the team was fairly decent just in 07/08 (9-7 both years) but also wasn't going to be getting to the 12-4/13-3 level anytime soon. You have to strip it down to start over, and that's what they've done. But sports fans now in the internet/mass media/sports radio world we live in can't accept anything other than instant gratification. I'd rather listen to Roseanne Barr sing the national anthem in my bedroom than listen to sports radio in this market. The hosts are morons who throw crap against the wall for ratings and reactions, and the callers fall right in line and soak it up. Dominik (I always forget how to spell his name) has done a decent job rebuilding this thing. He acquired a stud TE for a second-round pick, what looks like a franchise QB and had three other good draft selections last year. He also had the stones to tell Antonio Bryant to GTFO after he decided to pick up the prima donna act last season.

I'm looking forward to the draft next week. I believe we're in capable hands, and with Freeman and Suh/McCoy we have the foundation for legitimate optimism.

I saw Shelton Quarles at a golf tournament Friday and tried to get a little insight out of him about the draft. I asked him if he thought Brandon Spikes could play MLB in the NFL and he replied "he good, he good, he a good playa." Thanks for the insight Shelton...

Glazers are cheap. I am not surprised we didn't make any moves in FA. We've got a bunch of draft picks, hopefully we can pick up some talent in this deep draft class.

I think as a Bucs fan, you have to be happy with how the draft has gone so far. They added 2 DTs to address a huge need as they were brutal in run defense last year. They added a WR to address another need. And, they added a CB to address another need. Whether the picks pan out remains to be seen, but I think there is reason for considerable optimism at this point. Will they go 13-3 next year? Likely not, but some young pieces are being put in place.

They got McCoy, who was the player they truly wanted, hell he came to the draft with Buccaneer coloured socks on..They got Brian Price, who was phenomenal value with their first pick in the second round, and then got Benn, who is their best bet at a #1 receiver plus a corner to play opposite Talib..I think not only were they able to fill their greatest needs, but they were able to do it selecting BPA..Great start.

Fantastic draft. I couldn't be happier.
I could. A LOT.
How so? One possibility would've been for the Bucs to trade up into the bottom of the 1st to go after Dez or the DE that went to Indy. Also, there are some ???s about the CB they picked, but after reading some of the stuff that's been posted, it looks to me like he could turn out. Perhaps the Bucs moved up when they didn't have to or could've moved down to get the same player + a pick or two at various points, but, overall, it seems like they got the guys they wanted at positions of need, so it is shaking out to be a pretty good draft thusfar imo.

Getting Everson Griffen or Ricky Sapp at the top of the 4th might make you happier lol
There must be a problem with the guy if he has fallen so far... I wouldn't mind getting Dekoda Watson or George Selvie. Mike Williams and Sapp are a good possibility. The OT Bruce Campbell looks like good value and Penn isn't locked up for long term.
