What is THE WORST CALL you've ever made? (1 Viewer)

this is more bad luck, but kinda funny:

2003: Autodrafted Mike Vick no. 1 before he broke his leg in preseason. Amazingly, still made playoffs.

2004: Traded Brett Favre for Steve Smith. Smith got me a total of 60 yards before breaking his leg

2005: Made Javon my WR1 in the third round. Also drafted Cpep first, Deuce second, him third, JJ fourth. Was saved by late picks of Steve Smith, Lamont J, and Mike Anderson. Also traded LJ :bag:

I dropped Priest Holmes week 4 in 2001 (I believe) then went on his tear with the Chiefs. (It was a keeper league)

Here's another Kevan Barlow confession :bag:

I was a FBG reporter the year Barlow tore it up sharing time with Garrison Hearst. I saw quite a few 49er games that year. I was conviced that Barlow would be a stud. I am working on a theory that the Barlow is a different person alltogether and that he kidnapped the old Barlow and stashed him somewhere.

Marcel Shipp.EDIT: I still like him and think he has potential though...
I feel like I am in confession. I watched Shipp play vs. the 49ers during his breakout game, and I was impressed.

Oh, BTW, I used my extra draft pick to select Cade MCNoun...I passed on Culpepper :bag: I thought McNoun was Aikman with a better arm...lol.
 The only knock on Cade McNown coming out of UCLA (other than not being very tall for an NFL QB) was that his arm strength was below par. Aikman had a cannon, which I don't think most people appreciate because he didn't throw as much as Elway and Marino.

:lmao: No doubt.....

I dropped Dom Davis three years ago in a dynasty league.

My first-ever draft pick, at the #6 spot in a 12-team redraft league, in 1997 was Carl Pickens. It was a tough decision for me as it came down to either Pickens . . . or Terrell Davis. :bag:

It's sort of funny to look back, but once upon a time I used to write up a short piece on my own website for "rookie fantasy prospects".

I know I have one from 2001 somewhere but here is 2002. Apparently, I used to think Josh McCown was the next superstar.
:goodposting: I took McCown in the 1st round his rookie year in a redraft. I was convinced he'd put up 4500 yards and 40 TD's.

Edit: It was actually Cade McNown, not Josh McCown. :wall:

When P. Holmes went to KC, I was deep at rb and I traded him for Baltimore Def ( Who just came off a super season ). Well, Baltimore Def sucked that year and Priest became the Padre! I still haven't heard the end of that one!

In 2003 I picked Domanic Davis off the wave wire in week 1, I second guessed and minutes later dropped him for Artose Pinner :bag:

... :wall: Traded Peyton Manning before his record breaking season......in a keeper league - for Priest Holmes and some scrub wideout.Same league... years prior......forced a trade giving away Ricky Watters and his *then* handcuff (Shaun Alexander) for a 3rd round pick (worked out to be a 10th round pick due to keeps). Got Bupkiss with that pick...
I have Bupkiss in a few of my leagues. Works out great :D

In a Z league last preseason, traded Willie Parker for Arnaz Battle. :wall:

Let LJ go last offseason in a contract league (while keeping Jamal and Priest) due to cap space.

Drafted Michael Bennett over LT in the rook draft that year at 1.01

Traded Bret Favre to get Chris Warren...after his good years

:bag:

You know I hear he's healthy this year.... could tear it up :scared:

We autodrafted in 2001 and my roommate ended up with both Tony Richardson and Priest Holmes. He basically decides on the spot that since he had actually heard of Tony Richardson before; Priest had no shot, drops him, and the rest is history.

2004. Traded away Tiki Barber for a 5th round pick so i could keep Q Griffin. Had to beg somebody to take Tiki and he ended up RB2. Man that looked good... for exactly one game. :bag: Worst trade ever, i wont deny it.

In 2000 I traded down from the #2 pick to #3....I was convinced that Terrell Davis would return to form, so I figured I'd pass on Marshall Faulk at #2 anyway, so why not get something out of it? I followed up this brilliance by drafting Cade McCown about two rounds before his ADP. It was the only losing season I've ever had.

holy crap - competition for my injury curseBut it's still hard to top the year I drafted T Davis and his backup O Gary and BOTH got knocked out for the friggin year. Injuries aside drafting Slick Willie Green in the 2d was one of the worst - and this was after I was ripping on him all pre-season and even before he was drafted and lol-ed @ CLE. I was drinking what can I say.

In a dynasty league, I traded down in the first round rookie draft from 1.02 to 1.11 and picked up Onterio Smith and Koren Robinson in the process. Smith was looking like a stud in MIN and Robinson was solid and still improving.

1.02 was Cadillac Williams and within a couple months K Rob had been released by the Seahawks and Onterio pulled his wizzinator trick. And I'm still waiting for Alex Smith to pan out as a QB.

Cade McNown is definitely a multiple bad call for me. As a UCLA season ticket holder and a lifelong Chicago Bear fan, I was ECSTATIC when the Bears drafted Cade. I couldn't believe that my favorite Bruin was now going to my favorite team to fill a big hole that has been there since McMahon got body-slammed by that cheap Packer DL. I figured the football gods were repaying me for having to watch Aikman go to the freakin' Cowboys. I mean, this guy was a gamer - throws up on the field against Oregon and leads the Bruins to an OT victory, sets Pac-10 records all over the place, takes UCLA as close to a national title as they've been since 1954. I somehow managed to stay calm enough not to pick him his rookie year, but in 2000 I figured this was the time. Passing on some guy named Culpepper, who was also in his second NFL year, I stood up in fifth round and said, "In the 5th round, I take the next great NFL quarterback from UCLA, the heir to Troy Aikman, CADE MCNOWN!"

I needed a lot of these :banned: by the end of the season. Every so often one of my fellow owners will remind me of that pick. God, it still hurts. :wall:

Real Football -

1976 - Colts drafted DT Ken Novak, Purdue in the 1st rd. Played 23 career games and was cut.

1977 - Colts drafted WR Randy Burke, Ky in the 1st round. He came out of college only catching about 15-20 balls his senior year at Ky, but shined in the Senior Bowl. His pro career numbers look like 30 receptions / 489 yds / 3 tds in 4 years.

1982 - Drafted Art Schlichter. We all know what a loser he was.

Fantasy Football -

2002 I believe it was, let's just say that when Priest Holmes was having hip problems, I traded him for some pocket lint. :bag:

Edited to add Best in Real Football - Robert Irsay died and Jim Irsay took over the team and eventually hired Bill Pollian.

Edited to add Best in Fantasy Football - Too many to count

I took JJ Arrington with my 2nd pick last year and cut him in week 9. Somehow I still won the title. Oh yeah, I had LJ. :football:

Had both Shaun ALexander and Jamal Lewis in a keeper league a couple of years back. Could only keep one.

Guess who I picked? :wall:

NFL (with my NY bias): The G-Men passing on that Alexander kid out of Alabama for Fat Dayne who played a NCAA Div-2 schedule his senior year.

Me in FF: 2-years ago taking Mike Vick in the 4th rd as my QB and getting the "hook-up" 2 rds later by locking in P. Price.

ROOK
