What is the worst trade proposal you have seen in your league? (1 Viewer)

I was in the pool

Footballguy
I will start....

In a keep 6 league, someone offered me B. Edwards for R. Rice.

In another keeper, was offered palmer and harvin FOR nicks, d. bryant.

Can't think of any off the top of my head, but always have an owner pick up some players off waivers then he turns around and offers package deals

including them for a top or mid-level player and/or picks. I won't do it, as I am more of a quality over quantity kind of owner. But every now and then

he gets someone to fall for it.

Mid-season, Owner A offered Peyton Hillis and Terrell Owens to Owner B for Andre Johnson. Owens alone was nearly outperforming Johnson for most of the season, and Hillis of course has been a top five RB all season long. Awful, moronic offer.

Owner B turned it down. Owner A was me. Having that deal rejected saved my sesaon.

The lesson, as always: It's OK to be stupid, as long as someone else is more stupid.

Early in the start of one of my dynasty league season I was offered this deal.

McGahee, Breaston, M Ryan for Forte, M Wallace, Cutler

It wasn't a hard offer to turn down, but still not the worst trade offfer I've recieved.

You know what, there is no ridiculous trade offer.

Always counter and see where that gets everybody. If you start at your final ceiling that will never get you anywhere in any negotiation.

Someone offered me Bowe for Wayne earlier this year.... at first it was ridiculous, later it looked like it had been aopportunity missed.... then it looked like it would have been a bad trade again.\

I kept trying to trade for Brandon Jacobs the whole year purely as a handcuff; the owner who had him wouldn't let him go even though I kept saying he was 'just a backup'.... but he ended up getting useful RB2 value out fo him and he reminds me of it.

If Rice is the single decent RB1 on a team he's worth a lot. If he's on a team fortunate to have picked up Hillis and drafted Foster late he's worth something less because after all he may just have been on the bench for most of the year.

Point being maybe someone thinks Rice (or Jacobs) isn't worth much and Edwards would continue to do well. Someone else didn't agree. Who knows who's right at the time.

When Romo went down, I was looking for a QB. I offered another owner:

I give: DeAngelo & Gaffney

I get: Brees & Greene

Terrible offer - just getting the ball rolling.

Rationale: DeAngelo was about to "come back" and Gaffney was putting up solid PPR numbers. The other owner was dying for a consistent WR and a potential stud RB, and had Vick and Henne as backups. Vick had looked great early in the season, but hadn't made it back from injury yet. I had better WRs to offer (Calvin Johnson and Santana Moss) during subsequent negotiations if need be. I had made some noise about Vick being interesting. I had been shopping Torain and Wells around the league in addition to the players listed above.

The next day I discovered that he had rejected my offer (not surprising). Shockingly, he countered with:

I give: Torain & Gaffney

I get: Vick & Greene

I accepted. Double rainbow.

In a start up PPR dynasty league I drafted Dez Bryant in the 6th round. A week later a guy offers me a straight up trade of Michael Bush (who he took in the 10th round) for Bryant. I asked, why would I trade a player I picked in Round 6 for a 10th rounder? His response was that I wasted my draft pick and reached for Bryant because he was going in the 12th round in most drafts. I mentioned that the 12th round ranking was in redrafts and that this was a dynasty league, to which he told me I was "taking this dynasty thing too seriously." I did get the last laugh in that (despite Bryant's injury) I am playing in the championship game while he is not.

I think the moral of this story is that if you want someone to trade with you, it is probably best that you not infer that they were an idiot in their draft selections as a justification for your trade offer. I wouldn't have done the trade anyway, but to question my competence not only shot down any chances of a counter offer but also from my taking seriously any offer I get from him in the future.

Brees and MJD owner (redraft) initiated and completed a trade for Brady and Moreno. I don't believe Moreno was even on the field at the time.

Got offered Nate Clements for Marques Colston mid-season, because "their total points are almost equal and you won't miss Colston because you are strong at WR"

Not an offer, an actual trade. Roy Williams for Greg Jennings.
Not the worst Greg Jennings trade I've ever seen.
At one point in the season Roy was on a hot streak and the #1 guy for Dallas while Jennings was wallowing in mediocrity and watching Finley get a large share of the balls. Right now it looks like a stupid trade, but depending on when it happened it probably wasn't as lopsided as it seems. That said, I think what makes the trade so horrible to us is that we probably tend to look more at the players overall body of work versus a hot streak. Jennings has proven to be a reliable WR with a great young QB throwing him the ball, while Roy has been inconsistent and often disappointing in his career. Taken with this perspective you are correct that it was a shortsighted trade.I was offered a trade this year I thought was a pile of crap.He offered me Vick, Donald Brown, Kenny Britt and wanted Chris Johnson, Calvin Johnson, and L. McCoy or Colston. I believe in being cordial and making counteroffers, but in this case I just told him he was obviously on drugs and that there was no need for us to talk about trading anymore.
