What is your biggest problem with the USA (1 Viewer)

Damn near every store has a membership card now. I hate constantly being asked to sign up every time I checkout. "You could have saved $4.23 if you were a member." I don't give a ####. Stop asking me.

When you drive across the country, every small town looks exactly the same, same fast food places, big box stores, even the newer houses look the same. Missed the exit for gas, no problem, an exact replica town is just 5 miles down the road. Then back on the road where all the cars look the same. I don't know what it means but I think all the copying and replication is a sign that we've lost the willingness to take risks being different.

You are reading too much into it. It's just timing and cost effectiveness. The towns were built close in time and in an age of mass media and corporations. It's not like a small European town that was built and rebuilt over the course of 800 years.

Vice crimes being illegal, drugs, hookers, gambling, it makes no sense for a free country to have any of these things be illegal.

Almost feels like it's not a free country unless you agree with ultraconservative morality.
Almost feels like it's not a free country unless you agree with politically correct liberalism.

Big government.

Many things mentioned about this country are bad, but none will destroy it. But big government will. As a DC native, over my life I've seen what I'd already call big government become completely uncontrollable waste. It will be the downfall of this country, and that is sad. I'd say over 50% of the people that work for the US government are a waste of space. 50% of the contractors are doing business for the US government that is unnecessary. Our Government employees are essentially on a welfare system that paid for by taxing us and is protected by their union. It costs us trillions of dollars. Even if a president wanted to reduce government, there are so many factions in Congress, the country, society, etc. that it's un-reversible. Many great nations become less relevant or even disappear from bureaucracy. I'm pretty sure the US is well on it's way down the same path.

30% of federal employees are represented by a union. Would you consider that entire lot on welfare or do you have an agency breakdown that might be easier to digest? 70% at FBI? 43% at State Department? What is the Pentagon and Department of Health and Human Services breakdown?

Man, zinged by my own petard.

Now don't I feel silly for being the one to bring nonsensical reference to irrelevant legislation into this.

There's a whole lot of country off the interstate. But I digrest.

Worse than this is how so many companies think it's cool to ask for your personal info just because you bought something from them. And even more insane is how many window-licking goobers mindlessly hand over their address, phone number, and email just because they bought a $2 Gatorade at #####.

The women here complain that my penis is too big and it hurts them. I didn't have this problem when I lived in Samoa.

One of the biggest issues we have as a country is that we don't value local government enough. People only care the president, it's really annoying.

I'm from a very small town, the school system is failing, the roads are mess, the cops are corrupt. Everybody complains yet nobody does anything. You really think Obama cares about Bum####, Texas?

If people want real change they have to do it themselves and stop expecting somebody else to it.

We wouldn't be here if you guys could manage to get your #### straight.
Doesn't help that a lot of the politicians writing the laws are attorneys. Its actually a beautifully self-serving system your kind has created.
Who votes for them?
Exactly, I hate when people blame the government. The people are the government, blame the citizens if you are mad about something politically.

I think the obvious answer here is violent crime. The facts speak for themselves, we have a real problem there and we have no plan to cut it down.

In or off the interstate, "sameness" is at the root of my biggest problem with the USA. When everyone starts looking and acting same, we have a huge problem. It basically means everyone is wrong.

Then the whole world is wrong because America is about as diverse as it gets on this planet.

All the stupid idiots eating their stupid fast food, watching their stupid movies, drinking their stupid Mountain Dew, etc. Just all the fat, mouth-breathing idiots who settle for crap which lowers the quality of everything we consume because corporations know they don't have to produce quality to make money.
I never knew you felt this way about me.

Are we still operating under the notion that citizens are capable of making intelligent decisions?

Just like a lawyer to take no responsibility for one's actions.
What are you babbling about? I'm not the one complaining. And I'm not the one making the laws.

If by "exploiting" you mean keeping banks from foreclosing on my clients' homes or keeping landlords from evicting my clients from their homes or suing car dealerships for selling my clients cars with rewound odometers or any number of situations where non-lawyers ####ed over my clients then I guess that's what I do.

No doubt, but it's better than a lack of information.

Not sure how getting thrown out of a residence you don't pay for is somehow getting ####ed over

There's always been access to information. Now there's just too much with way too much of it being misleading.
